Five Fx Ice Cream And Sweet Cake

The UCF students are lucky that this fun and delicious ice cream place is so close by. There are so many flavor options for the ice cream. My favorites are lavender (which is light brown) and taro. It’s made by pouring milk onto a cold surface. They always ask if you prefer whole milk, so there’s the option.
You can choose from one fruit topping, which is mixed into the ice cream, or two other toppings. As they scrape the milk on the cold surface, right in front of you, the ice cream hardens and they mix in the toppings of your choice.
It’s also fun to hang out inside while you eat the ice cream with the amusing and catchy music videos playing on the screens. This place is the full experience!

The novelty of place deserves five stars. The coffee ice cream is very fresh and strong, but it took forever. I also tried the matcha but I feel as though flavor was lacking. The toppings are also very few. The taiyaki is okay, but it could have been better.

So yummy! The nutella taiyaki is a must-​try and my favorite ice cream to get is the Thai Tea roll ice cream with your choice of topping. The ice cream is a little expensive, but I think it’s worth it since you can’t really get hand-​made roll ice cream anywhere in Orlando, not that I know of at least. Overall, definitely try this place! There’s so many different options and flavors you can choose from so you won’t be disappointed.

This place is a really cool concept for an ice cream shop. You get to choose your flavors and your milk base and the ice cream gets made right in front of you. They also serve taiyaki, which is like a stuffed waffle in the shape of a fish.
I have been here numerous times and always get my ice cream made with fat free milk. For some reason they will always try to persuade you to get whole milk, but the fat free tastes great and is much healthier. You can also get almond milk and soy milk. I get taro flavor usually but have gotten peanut butter before. They pour your milk in a blender cup and add a scoop of whatever your flavor choice is and then blend it all up. They then pour it on a frozen metal dish and make the ice cream. You can choose one fruit topping or two non fruit toppings. It also comes with a waffle bowl if you want one.
The ice cream is good. Nothing extremely special, but I do come back because they have they the fat free option. I think the prices are a little steep for what you get, especially when you’re only allowed one fruit topping. But overall, it’s a fun concept with lots of flavor choices and I still recommend checking it out. The taiyaki is inexpensive and really yummy! So don’t pass up on that.
Just a side note, they do use a lot of nut products (milk, flavors, toppings). The person working (maybe the owner?) had no idea what I was asking when I asked if mine could be made on a surface that was clean and a scoop that hadn’t touched walnuts or almonds. So make sure if you have any sort of allergy that you know that everything is made on the same surface and the scoops sit in water after each round.

Have been here several times and loved it each time. We always get the Taiyaki and it is good. We like red bean and boston crème. We like the Taro and mango ice creams, and I like the milkshakes. Some people are complaining about the price, but we don’t think it’s high, especially for what you get. We love this place.

Ice cream is simply incredible and the Nutella Taiyaki was superb. Pricing are less than those famous franchise dessert/​ice cream stores, yet the taste are out of this world. Staffing are friendly, greets you when you walk in and bid you farewells when you leave.

Their ice cream is seriously good. The flavors are amazing and you can choose what kind of milk they use to create it. You also get to choose mix-​ins (sprinkles, Reese’s, almonds, fruit, etc) similar to coldstone, but for much cheaper. They make your ice cream in front of you.
The small size is plenty and I’m satisfied afterward. And their Taiyaki? Wow. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside, with the filling of your choice.
This place is definitely worth a trip out to try. Delicious.

We tried the Nutella taiyaki and it was good. We went on a weekend and it was busy, so it took a few minutes to make, but the shop had a fun environment.

Make liquid cream (milks, soy OR almond) flavored with exotic flavors turn into amazing ice cream. With the taiyaki waffles this place is a new go to place for sinful sweets! Love the concept and I am lactose intolerant so this makes this place exceptional! (See video posted)

Fresh taiyaki?! This is a brand new thing in Florida and it’s a must have. Yeah, yeah Cali and NY we know you got the upper hand in Asian delights!
Anyways, this little shop isn’t little at all. It’s actually a very large shop and well ventilated. You don’t feel like your pores are oozing out sugar. Big thumbs up!
So when you get there it may look a little intimidating because there’s so many words written everywhere but the staff explains it well. There’s not that many items on the list from drinks, taiyaki (fish buns), ice cream and other ice cream related stuff like patbingsu.
The customization is the tricky part! The ice cream (liquid) is made from a big list of flavors and then your preference of milk and none dairy milk. Next you get to watch them splash the liquid on a super freezing plate and mix in your toppings. It’s a cool concept!
The taiyaki is made to order so you get super fresh fish buns with so many fillings choices. There are sweet and savory ones available!
The taiyaki are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It’s especially delicious when you eat the taiyaki and ice cream together. Great combo of texture!
The ice cream is surprisingly creamy and not icy at all. Play around with the flavors!

I have been here so many times. I can’t get enough of their taiyaki and ice cream. They’re also lactose-​free, there’s almond and soy milk choice. I like the way they make their ice cream. It’s pretty cool. They also make smoothies. They have many flavors of taiyakis. Give everything a try!
Atmosphere is nice and there’s kpop music playing in the background.

I’ve never had fresh taiyaki before, so this was a treat!
I decided on the cocoa cream. It came out piping hot, but it paired well with the crispy outside. I tried a bite of the ice cream as well and it was good. They also have savory ones, which my friend who ordered one was raving about.

This is the coolest (no pun intended!) ice cream place — ever! It’s like Coldstone times 10! Not only do they have the great toppings to mix-​in, all of the ice cream is made to order!
They also have taiyaki, which are these waffle/​batter like things that you stuff with your favorite fillings and then then it’s cooked in a fish shaped waffle iron/​press thingy.
For the ice cream, you can have it made with whole, 2%, fat-​free, almond, or soy milk. I opted for blueberry with whole mile which is their most popular type of milk. It was so cool watching them make it right in front of me! I also got a Nutella taiyaki because I had to try it!
You need to eat the taiyaki first because while it’s still good, it’s a million times better when it’s hot and the center is ooey and gooey! The ice cream wasn’t as heavy as «normal» ice cream — it was light and delicious!
For the ice cream, you can also get toppings mixed in (two candy type or one fruit) and can get waffle cone or bowl, all at no additional charge. For both ice cream and taiyaki, it was only $ 7 and change — not bad at all.
Do yourself a favor and no matter where in Central Florida you are, go check this place out! Especially if you have kids — they’d get such a kick out of watching their ice cream being made!

Finally, got to try taiyaki!
After reading the Unilocal reviews a while ago, I couldn’t wait! My son really wanted some ice cream on our way home from the park and I thought it would be a cool experience for him to actually get to see them make it right in front of him! Plus, I definitely didn’t feel like doing the typical froyo thing! I like to try new things and always want to teach my son the same! He loved it! I had a proud mom moment, for sure.
Meanwhile, I managed to convince my husband to try a taiyaki (basically, a fish-​shaped waffle) with strawberry & cream cheese filling! So delish! I mean, the way the strawberry and cream cheese flavors melted together were perfection! It was really great to try something different! Glad we came here!

An Asian twist on fresh made ice cream with your choice of milk (i.e., soy, whole, half and half, almond, etc) and your favorite flavor. They mix it right in front of you on a cold silver plate and serve it in a cup or cone. You can have sweets and nut toppings or fruit added in. I tried strawberry and vanilla flavors. Both were super fresh and light taste and not too sweet.
They have Taiyaki which is a waffle batter mix formed to the shape of a fish. You pick a filling to make it even yummier. Strawberries & cream, red bean, pumpkin, and ham & cheese are all delicious. The waffle texture and taste are good enough by itself, too.
The owners are friendly and can help you make your flavor decisions. With random wall decorations, you can take a picture with angel wings, read the sticker decals or be distracted by their colorful spoons. They might even take your picture to post on their Facebook page.

I admit I love taiyaki. It’s basically just a waffle with sweet red bean stuffing inside, and there are plenty of similar Asian pastries, but for me, taiyaki is taiyaki and it just has a special spot in my heart.
Needless to say I was excited to try this place. I expect it to taste ten times better than the frozen ones in my freezer. Not to mention that they have plenty of stuffings to choose from, strawberry cream cheese, nutella and all that. Sad to say I was somewhat disappointed. The red bean traditional one is okay, but there was not enough red bean in it. The taro one was awful though. First, the color is a very weird lavender that doesn’t look natural at all. Next, it tastes custardy without discernible taro flavor.
They have some interesting ice cream in the shop. It’s kind of a cross between Coldstone and nitrogen ice cream. The ice cream mix (they use a blender to blend the milk and flavor upon order) is poured into a shallow, very cold pan where it solidifies as the staff «stir-​fries» it, and candies and fruits are added in.
BTW in Japan there is a little psychological test for taiyaki. If you start eating your taiyaki from the
head — you are an optimist who tend to plunge into things without much thought
tail — you are cautious and pay attention to detail
back — you are sensitive and get nervous easily. kind of a loner who tire in a large crowd.

I honestly can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this place until I found it on Unilocal and I’m truly glad I did.
This place is by the Panda Express that’s across the street from Waterford Lakes.
I came here because I had to see their magical way of making ice cream for myself! I ordered a Taiyaki with strawberry and cream cheese and my fiancé ordered a blueberry ice cream (first visit). On the second visit I ordered a green tea ice cream with some fresh strawberries and my fiancé ordered a Nutella Taiyaki and a chocolate ice cream.
–Taiyaki: Exceeded my expectations, think of it as a warm waffle in the shape of a fish which contains whatever filling you choose. I chose strawberry and cream cheese and didn’t regret it one bit, the strawberry and cream cheese were warm and melty it was delicious. The Nutella one was amazing as well, any Nutella fan would love it.
The only thing is that I would suggest that you cut it in half and let it cool before taking a bite because it was super super hot!
–Ice Cream: The way they make the ice cream is too cool– if you know what I mean. They make your ice cream from scratch and you can pick whatever milk you want in it (whole, fat free, soy, or almond). They even have dairy free milk options which is rare for ice cream places.
–Blueberry Ice Cream: They take an immersion blender and blend the blueberries to make the ice Cream. My fiancé loved it and said it was some of the best ice cream he’s ever had.
–Green Tea Ice Cream: I love anything that’s green tea flavored so I was in heaven. I opted for one fresh fruit topping (strawberry) instead of two non fresh toppings (things like sprinkles and chocolate chips). It was delicious and if you love green tea like I do I definitely recommend it!
The staff here is extremely friendly and they are very sweet. Feel free to ask them any questions you may have about the menu.
Overall, this is a great place to get ice cream and some awesome Taiyaki! The staff and service is amazing and they make you feel comfortable! They even play awesome K-​Pop music for you to enjoy as you chow down on their delicious ice cream!

Instantly my new favorite place for sweets. I first heard about Three F (X) (Jacksonville location) from Alton Brown’s AB Road Eats. If Alton Brown recommends it, you know I had to go check it out. Well, it was worth the 30 minutes drive!
Do yourself a favor and get both ice cream and a Taiyaki if it’s your first time. Considering how gluttonous I am, I ate my Taiyaki with the ice cream on top… no ragrets (movie reference). It’s like eating a warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream, only its Taiyaki with taro ice cream (or any flavor you get) and better. Oh, and they make your ice cream from scratch right in front of you!

I was so sad when Brusters closed in this plaza. NOT ANYMORE! I’ve experienced a new level of ice cream-​y goodness.
It was my first time visiting and the cashier was kind enough to walk me through the menu. Also — free wifi!
Taiyaki should become part of your vocabulary if it isn’t already. It is a fish shaped waffle tasting wonder full of your heart’s desire. I tried the strawberry and cream cheese one. I felt strange cutting into a fish with red strawberry filling but once I got over that I thoroughly (and quickly) enjoyed this treat.
The ice cream is so much fun here. You choose your milk and flavor and then watch them pour the liquid on cold metal and scoop it around until it becomes ice cream. Pick 1 fruit or 2 non-​fruit toppings. These are important life decisions! I chose espresso whole milk ice cream with pecans and chocolate chips and feel like a rock star because it was ON POINT.
It compares in price to ColdStone or Marble Slab but offers a new take on the whole ice cream process. I will certainly be returning to try a NUTELLA taiyaki and some other ice cream concoction in the future for sure!

You’re thinking, what the hell is a Taiyaki? Well it’s a japanese snack dessert that is in a fish shape. It is usually filled with red (azuki) beans but here they got tons of awesome creations. I am in love with all of the one that is combined with cream cheese. The result is a creamy and sweet filling of a fruit jam with this semi crispy and soft waffle. Imagine a strudel filling but enclosed in a waffle.
I’m tempted to get one of those savory ones but I’m hooked on the strawberry and cream cheese.
I can’t comment on the ice cream but it looks cool. I kind of wish they have other snacks there too but I can’t complain.
