Waited almost 90 minutes for our sushi apps. They were ok. Then we waited another 20 for our food which was bad. Chicken so hard you couldn’t cut it. Overlooked porterhouse steaks, after they ran out of all other beef and they brought out a filet(which they said they didn’t have) when we ordered a filet of salmon. Was not a mistake they were just out of salmon and subbed whatever they wanted to sub. No apology for any of it. Didn’t adjust the bill. Just added a 20% gratuity. Bad. Bad. Bad. Don’t go there.

Overall very good experience. Service was great. Sea Bass was recommended by the bartender and it was awesome. Only reason for four instead of five was warm beer, but bartender did make it right.

My colleagues and I were in town for a conference and dropped by here one night. I had the sea bass which was amazing. The others had sushi which they really enjoyed. Our waiter was very friendly. The best part was the unexpected drag show. It was a lot of fun, and it’s worth going here just for the show.

Food was tasty… Enjoyed the monkey balls as an appetizer. But the service was very slow… In fact, we had to leave in groups so that a few of us wouldn’t be late to a client event… Which means we had to stick others in our group with the bill.

Went there last night with my wife and our 12 and 9 years old, apps and ceasar salads were traditional and average. My 9 years old had the Bison Burger and loved, the 12 years old had the Shrimp Scampi, which was really good, my wife had the Salmon which failed to impress or make any remarkable points and I had the Lamb Shank, It was very disappointing, a rather tiny meal, the tomato based sauce was acidic the mashed potatoes consistency as off, and the whole meal had too much of a home cooked fell to it. The drinks where good, they don’t offer unsweetened iced tea which was odd in such a big venue. In the end I left with a felling that my money could have been better spent in one of the several other places around it.

Wow! I normally don’t like restaurants on I Drive but this place blew me away. I started with an appetizer called Monkey Balls. They are amazing(not real monkey balls) lol. Cowboy steak was incredible. The portion size was just right. The wine selection was great. My waiter was so cute! I must say they have the cutest waiters! This place was a pleasant surprise. An added bonus was that the chef was from Hells Kitchen. Never had a celebrity cooking for me. A must eat when on vacation. Local cuisine with class.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. — Please do not eat here even if Capital Grille and other places are booked. Terrible service. Waiter greeted us with«We are very short staffed so please bare with us.» Took forever to get our drinks. Appetizers were just ok. Then I was told they ran out of what I had ordered as my main course so I had to order something else. Same was told to 2 others in my party. We had a table of 8 people so we ordered a 2nd bottle of wine just to be told they ran out of that type of wine and didn’t have more so we couldn’t get a 2nd bottle. When main dishes finally came,(oh and empty appetizer plates were never cleared from the table), everything was way, way, way undercooked. One friend couldn’t eat his beef because it was raw. I mean bloody raw.(He ordered it medium). One other friend couldn’t eat their fish because it was also raw. Barely cooked. How is this place still in business? I travel and eat out a lot. This was one of the worst. I had 2 customers with me and I was embarrassed that I had made a reservation here. I kept saying«I’m so sorry.» as if this was my fault. — Really bad food, service and experience.

I would give this negative stars if I could. I’m just going to bullet point this. Took longer than an hour to get our food. Manager made excuses when we requested to talk to him. Nothing was compt… even after I sent my food back that I did not eat. One other dish was warm at best as our food was not completed at the same time. Men’s room was over flowing… makes me wonder how the kitchen looks? I would never recommend this place. No body cared about the client experience. We chose this place for the chef and we were let down. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — It’s an hour later and I am still scratching my head on how bad the service was at this restaurant! I have never tipped below 20% on a tab before but tonight was a different story. Server was bad, manager made excuses and the kitchen could not execute in the food we ordered. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Two hours since my last post and still can’t believe how bad of an experience I had at Funky Monkey. I can’t even give it justice in trying to explain how bad the service was. Just terrible, my steak was terrible and I sent it back because it was over cooked. It was a $ 44 steak. All I wanted was what I ordered(a medium cooked steak). They did take it back and brought out another steak that in the middle was cooked to a medium rare. It was also very charred and the outside… might have been acceptable but put that same steak on top of the cold fries that were served with the original over cooked. I was just surprised by the service we received and quality of food did not live up to the hype. Very disappointed. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – Day later and I just remembered that no one even came to check on us. I had to asked someone to go find our server who was MIA. When he did come back he was making excuses and said the kitchen screwed up our order and that another server took one of the plates from our order. Clearly when the food did finally arrive my steak was way over cooked. The steak fries the steak was on top of were barley warm. The pork dish that was served to one of the guest was warm. The Chicken Dish was warm but was missing something. That was probably the dish in question. When the manager did finally come to the table after three separate request to our server he was not helpful. Just a bad experience all around. This is why I downloaded the Unilocal app. It was that bad.

My girlfriend wrote a similar review of this place, and got a pretty snarky and patronizing response from Eddie N. of Funky Monkey. Dear Eddie: I’ve been a Unilocaler for, oh, about 9 years now. You might notice I have quite a few Elite badges next to my name because I’ve been doing this almost as long as Unilocal has been in New York. You need to learn how to respond to negative reviews, because how you responded to hers makes you look like a complete ASS. We waited more than an hour and a half for our food. No, of course you don’t let it sit there on the line for an hour and a half, and I shudder to think what it would have looked like if you did. That was an absolutely moronic response. You’re obviously a pretty crappy businessman, because if you knew anything about business, you’d know that THECUSTOMERISALWAYSRIGHT. The ONLY thing you should have done in response was apologize. THAT’S IT. If you had, there was at least some chance that we’d give you a second shot. But what you did instead was to call into question her integrity, which, again, makes you look like an idiot and pretty much guarantees that we’ll never come back. But hey, clearly you don’t need the business judging by the emptiness of your restaurant the night we were there. That is, if an empty restaurant is what you’re trying to achieve, and I’m guessing not. If you’re not the owner, I hope the owner sees this and cans your ass, because you deserve it. What happened is really quite simple: we got ignored in favor of a large private party that was in the restaurant. It took way longer than it should have, more than an hour and a half for us to get our food. We were sitting outside with a large party of about 12 people(or thereabout) and there was almost no one inside. The private party was out of sight, so the restaurant appeared empty, which made it all the more mysterious why our food was taking so long. We were eventually told that was the reason by one of our waiters when we asked. Um, this is what’s called BADMANAGEMENT. I’ve worked in a ton of restaurants and I know what bad management looks like. It’s when you don’t have your restaurant adequately staffed to handle the business you have on a given night. That was the case here. You might also want to heed the reality that there is a preponderance of one and two-star reviews of your restaurant, which should be a clue that this is not an isolated incident. You obviously have a bigger problem. Taking it out on your customers is not going to fix it. Eddie, do yourself and your restaurant a favor and learn how to respond to a negative review(that is, if you can deflate your ego enough to take some some advice from people who know a lot more about it than clearly you do): There’s even a video on that page in case you’re too lazy to read what it says. Oh, and if you want know how to do things correctly, check out the reviews of your neighbor, Tommy Bahama. THEY know how to do things right. It’s called SERVICE, and they went above and beyond.

The food prices do not match the food quality. The décor is very agreeable, as we found the service to be. The food, however, was mixed. The appetizers(tempura chicken, short ribs) were both enjoyable, but the main courses(my g/f had a pasta dish, I had the burger) were unspectacular. The great disappointment was the«pizza» my girlfriend’s son had, which was basically barely cooked dough with tasteless sauce and unmelted cheese on top. For the price, they could have tried a bit harder. The waiter took it off the bill after our complaint. If you’re oriented to dining, I’d say consider something else, but if you’re more interested in a place of ambiance for socializing, drinking, with food as a secondary concern, then this would likely be a good choice.

Hundred dollars on a boil in bag meal. Service was not great. Completely forgot our appetizers and I was served an ear of raw corn on the cob with nothing on it.

A great place to visit at Pointe Orlando was the Funky Monkey Bistro and Bar. I just returned there for lunch after having dinner there a few days ago. The service was great. The food was delicious and not over priced like many of the other places in the area. This is surely a place I will frequent in Orlando.

The restaurant seemed kind of dead when we came in with a group. Later we found out they had another party in back. It took an hour and a half just to get our food. When we finally complained about it they brought the food out immediately. Makes you wonder how long it was just sitting there ready. The service was lacking severely. We will not be going back the next time we are in Florida. There are better places in the same area. Edit* Why would I lie about food? Lol. It seriously took an hour and a half to get our food out to us. Even way over cooked a steak and someone in our group sent it back. Then they were told you were out of steak. We ate out the entire week we were in Florida(not one fast food restaurant lol) and had way better service at other places. Sorry. We should have trusted the awful reviews on Unilocal but it wasn’t my turn to pick the restaurant. 2.5 star fine dining lmfao.

My fiancé and I were looking for a last minute reservation to enjoy Magical Dining Month. Despite the not so great Unilocal reviews, we decided to give Funky Monkey a shot because the menu looked good. I got the stuffed avocado as my appetizer and it was AMAZING! After starting with this, I had high hopes for my entrée. For my main course I chose the lobster capellini. What a disappointment!!! There were a few very small pieces of lobster in it, and the sauce tasted like straight butter. It was so watery and unenjoyable that I didn’t even finish it. Most expensive spaghetti with butter sauce I’ve ever had. For dessert I got the cheesecake and that was decent. Even with the Magical Dining deal, I still felt like we paid too much for my meal. Although the appetizer and dessert were good, the main course should be the best part and it was definitely the worst. Although the interior of the restaurant was nice and the wine was enjoyable, I was so turned off by the meal that I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

I was a little hesitant to come here because of all the poor reviews but the magical dining menu looked too good to pass up. I am sad to say the reviews about the terrible service are true. I called in the morning and reserved a table but when I got there my reservation was nowhere to be found. They did seat us rather quickly though so I can’t really complain. However, the service wasn’t that great. We waited 40 minutes for appetizers. About 25 minutes for the check. There was also a bug crawling on the wall which I pointed out to a server. She did attempt to kill it but it ended up crawling down so she walked away and my boyfriend finally killed it when it reappeared in the middle of dinner… Now I’m not expecting a free meal because of this but maybe an apology from a manager would have been nice. But we also didn’t ask for one because we didn’t want to cause a scene so that’s on us and the servers if they failed to mention it. Although the bug kind of ruined my appetite I must say the food is awesome. Stuffed avocado was probably one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had and it’s definitely enough for a light meal. Lobster dishes were pretty good as well. Long story short, even though the food was delicious, the service was too poor for us to come back any time soon.

The food was good. The fried goat cheese was on point. I also tried the tuna stuffed avocado, it was lacking favor. The surf and turf I ordered was a bit overcooked, I chose not to send it back though for fear I’d never get to eat(everything was taking forever-THEY WEREN’T BUSY). Took cheesecake to go. Like I said, the food was good but I was very underwhelmed. I was totally surprised by the awful service we got last night. I was expecting great, attentive service! I went with 3 friends of mine to experience their Magical Dining menu, so I kind of expected a lot more than we got. Very disappointed with the service. So much that I probably won’t return.

OK, maybe we got here on OJT night but not the best experience. I was here witha group of twelve. Two guys had ordered Old Fashioned. They were served one Old Fashioned, one Manhatten. My drink didn’t arrive this time. Waitress asked if anyone wanted a second drink, I asked to get my first(which she didn’t believe until I showed here there was no trace of any glass for me to drink from). My two compatriots asked for Old Fashioned again. Once again, they brought out one Old Fashion, Olé Manhatten, but switched them around. When questioned about the difference, the waitress said it was just the difference between two bartenders. Needless to say we didn’t bother with a third round. For the food, my two compatriots(with the mystery switching drinks) didn’t get their meals right away. Instead where eventually informed that thier food had been served to a different table(someone is not reading the dupes!). They did eventually bring out those two meals, but one of them AGAIN went to the wrong table. However it was somewhat quickly identified and brought back to him. Another coworker was brought out the wrong plate entirely. When he questioned it, the waitress took it back, then told him that yes, it was indeed what he ordered. He asked for something else — Low Mein. His Low Mein eventually came out, but it was a much smaller portion that another of our party. As for my meal, sweet potatoes tasted like they came froma can and the pork was dry. In fact a lot of our meals had dry meat — probably sitting under the heat lamp too long. On the plus side, the appetizers weren’t bad. Monkey Balls and most sushi was good. Salmon Sashimi was… not inedible. And then there is the bathroom. For a restaurant that plays itself as being an upscale wine bar, I would have hoped for beter than a roll of TP on the edge of the sink and a softsoap dispenser from the dollar store. Look, if I’m paying that much money, you need to bring the entire game up to par. Needless to say, net time we’ll be going to Copper Canyon, Opa or any one of a dozen restaurant next to this.
