Went here with friends last night. Used a living social coupon. I have to say, both the burgers and the spinach artichoke dip were the best I’ve had in Orlando. Great service, delicious food and very reasonably priced drinks and beers. A winner all the way around!

$.50 wings on Wednesdays! Wings were better tonight than last time, maybe because they were $.50 each.

This was the 2nd result for«chicken wings» and«Orlando» that Unilocal came up with so we trusted the reviews and went for it.(note: the first was Oblivion Taproom which was closed at the time) The location is in a odd part of town, a strip mall way out on Orange and Holden, but the place is nice and big with plenty of parking. We came in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and found it to be quite empty, a few at the bar, a table with a large family and a few smaller parties. We were a group of 8 and all but two of us ordered the wings. Service was a bit slow, considering our order wasn’t too complex — 50 wings 3 sauces, 210-wing single sauces, a burger and a turkey sandwich, plus a couple of baskets of tots and fries. There was only one waitress, but then again, not a lot of other customers either. She was really nice, though, so I’m just going to leave that comment and go on to the food. The wings were good. Were they amazing? No. I can’t say they have any signature to put them above any other place that knows how to cook wings. They were crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside — sauces were nothing special. Their hot was not hot, should have gone for the extra hot. I mixed it with BBQ which was super sweet, so glad I had the foresight to add the hot to balance it out. The tots were served extra crispy as we requested, and the curly fries were perfectly seasoned, except a little overcooked for my tastes(I like a little potato feel to them, still). The crinkle fries were just as you’d expect, although maybe could have used a few seconds extra in the fryer to crisp a little bit more. One huge thumbs up was on their honey mustard choice — dijon so it had a bit more bite and wasn’t sickeningly sweet. Prices, a little steep. All the appetizers were over $ 5, 10 wings with celery and dressing was almost $ 9 and no fries(those were separate at $ 3 – 6 depending on the size). Would I go back? Maybe if someone begged me — but there’s closer places to me with wings just as good, if not better. If I went back, I’d try something off the rest of the menu, they had some tasty sounding sandwiches and British dishes.

My first experience at McWell’s was awesome! Great atmosphere, friendly server, and awesome wings! We had the broccoli cheese bites as an appetizer and they were INCREDIBLE! I would come back for those alone, but the hot wings were great too.

I love McWells! Great food and Great Service. After ony a couple of visits, the owners, remembered my name and favorite Drink. That’s awesome customer service. I have become a regular of Wednesday night trivia and brought more friends there(Best place in town for trivia hosted by Simon Sez of Earth Trivia). The menu is great and there is a lot of variety– much more than typical pub fare. Prices are fair too. You won’t be disappointed

Greeted with a smile, and our server was very nice. Not very busy on a Thursday around 6:15. We were the only diners there, besides a few people at the bar. The menu is loaded with comfort food — all normal stuff and it was hard to choose, but I went for the fish and chips based upon the reviews I’ve seen on Unilocal. The fish and chips were excellent — although they have them at Market Price and $ 10.95 was a little steep. It was a huge filet with yummy crinkle fries and I ate every bit. The batter was light and the fish was cooked perfectly with the texture you expect. Hubby had the cheesesteak sammich. He gave it a 6⁄10. Daughter had chicken nuggets(imagine that) and they were of the generic frozen variety. Bathroom was clean. We used the Unilocal 10% off deal! Thanks for that! I can say, that if I have a craving for fish and chips, I’ll definitely be back for that.

This just a great place for all kinds of folks. Families can feel quite comfortable here. I went just for the fish and chips, which I’d been craving. Perfect! Ultra crispy, very nice fish, and perfect crinkly fries. They have several dining/bar sections. The entertainment is in the back section which has only hi-top tables, not so good for me, since I am old and decrepit Very friendly service. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.

I have become a Big Fan of this place. I can honestly say that I have been a after work regular and sometimes late nighter for a while. The family that runs this place are friendly and welcoming. The the food is a wonderful delight of mixed bar food pickings with some British fare thrown in. The wings are«Fresh» not frozen(makes a huge difference!!), Fish and chips are delectable as are many other things I have tried on the menu. They also offer 2 dollar drink specials(screwdriver, cape cod, etc.) everyday and the standard beers with some imports you find elsewhere. I always find it refreshing to find a locally owned restaurant/pub in a seemingly thick forest of corporate of eateries and bars in this town. Mcwell’s is like a cool oasis in barren desert on south Orange Ave. Get You Some!

For some people, it will always be known as Tom and Mony’s and it’s good to have a restaurant in that location. McWells has potential as it is a pretty interesting location and set up but the food is generally just ok and on the expensive side for bar food. Burgers are pretty good but at a hefty price of around $ 9. Cheesesteaks are good(around $ 9) but be aware that if you decide to add any topping(s) be prepared for your sub price to be considerably higher. Don’t try to sub fries for potato chips with your sandwich as they will add $ 2.50. I like the wings and usually get«hot» but they are generally pretty mild and if you want them saucy, be prepared to be charged for that too. The one main thing that I find negative about this restaurant is extra charges that you find on your bill. If you request an extra serving of salad dressing or some kind of sauce, you are charged for it. I think if you have to ask for extra, then there wasn’t enough to begin with. McWells is owned by a British family and one of the items that they do well is the fish and chips. Nicely battered haddock and fries at market price so ask first. Another good choice is the hot roast beef sandwich. Kind of the comfort food kind that mom used to make with bread on the bottom and rare top round smothered with gravy with crinkle fries on the side. Another interesting item is the beef bowl – crinkle cut fries topped with roast beef, grilled onions smothered with a peppercorn gravy. Ultimate comfort food. There is a good selection of beer and the house wine is pretty decent. There is usually a local clientele there and be prepared for kids in the restaurant as it is quite large and loud. They do offer live entertainment on weekend nights quite often and there is usually a cover charge and south of downtown, entertainment is hard to find. Addendum – McWell’s now has a new owner who is the daughter of the original owner. I have to say that the food is pretty darned good plus the waitresses are very good especially Shelly. I like the change. Hence, one more star.

large place with very good food(great lunch specials) and a large bar(15 or so stools). high tables close to bar, with an eating section and walled off pool table on half opposite the bar. another small bar past the bathrooms. old school lights and high school. about the perfect amount of light, not overly lit, but not dark. small tvs behind the bar and one large projection in corner, so not the best place to watch the game. great bartenders(jennifer specifically) that looks to save you money and is always on top of things.

We love this place. It’s a no-frills(I’m not exagerrating) local hangout with really good wings. Everything else is OK but I wouldn’t drive across town to taste. We live down the street and love going to a place where«everyone knows your name.»

Wings and beer… basically this is the motto of this place. It’s decent… nothing too great but nothing bad. The wings here are cooked nicely but the sauces are nothing from the ordinary. Hot really isn’t hot, medium is like a mild, and mild has no sauce on it. Salads are iceberg lettuce with a few onions and tomatoes on top. The beer selection is decent and they do tend to do a happy hour. The service here has never been outstanding. Most of the times I’ve come, it’s been hit or miss with the service. Sometimes it’s okay, sometimes it’s slow. Went here on a night that a Magic game was on and on the tvs they were showing a west coast college football game, MSNBC, and Two and a Half Men. FML. I believe Wednesday’s are wing nights here at McWell’s. 50 cent wings from 5 — 9 pm.

YEAH this is a fun mom/pop dive bar. I guess Wednesdays are the night that has trivia night too so the customers(young — old,) cheer and try to use their toxicated brains while grubbing on 50cent hot wings. All of the wings are half a dollar, which includes, extra hot, mild, regular, garlic, teriyaki, BBQ. My buddy liked the extra hot and I liked the BBQ the best — regardless of personal flavor, it was hot off the burner cause it was drenched in marination and STILLCRISP! The young spokesperson for the trivia and our lovely waitress had a good character too. My only concern is their lack of beer selection. No fat tire or blue moon.

Tucked away into an unassuming shopping plaza, McWell’s is a hidden gem where the locals come out to compare notes on their respective days while enjoying drinks, food and friendly service. Owned by a lovely British family, you will find them all behind the bar, in the kitchen and running meals out in the dining room while the jukebox plays everything from David Alan Coe to Madonna. In the back room, live music, trivia and karaōke cast a siren-song. Besides your basic pub fare such as wings(50 cents on Wednesdays), burgers, fries, sandwiches, salads and all manner of things dipped and fried, there is a wonderful selection of English fare such as bangers and mash, cornish pasties and the best fish ‘n’ chips I’ve tasted in central Florida. They’ve also got Guinness and Boddington’s for that proper topping-off touch, as well as a fully stocked front and back bar. Atmosphere is casual, friendly and you’ll be encouraged to visit time and time again.

What struck me first when we walked into McWell’s is how«family friendly» it seemed. I mean, it’s you typical bar and grill, but there were kids running back and forth to the game room, a general lack of commotion, and just a really nice vibe. Quite a change from some of the other beer & burgers joints in Orlando(I’m looking at you, Johnny’s Fillin Station.) So. A bar stocking your typical selection. Ephemera on the walls. A country band tuning up in the back room. Imagine my surprise when the waitress comes over and begins speaking with an English accent. Turns out, the owners of McWells are Brits, and there is a portion of the menu to match. In addition to burgers and wings, they feature such across-the-pond classics as bangers & mash, an «English dog» and fish & chips. We had the fish & chips, which were pretty darn tasty. Our dining companions roast beef plate(well-cooked roasted beef between two pieces of white bread, covered in gravy) seemed tasty enough, though the gravy did have a rather institutional flavor to it. Oh, mozzarella sticks too. They came out hot and nicely breaded; you can’t mess up cheese sticks, except when you do. And they didn’t. Overall, McWell’s is good. Not great, but not bad in any way. The $ 5 pitchers of beer and reasonable prices($ 7 – 10 for most) are a definite plus, and the oddly-wholesome atmosphere might be a draw on some nights. Give em a shot.
