We moved from the DC area last year and have been missing some Peruvian Chicken. Let me tell you, this place can definitely compete with the best of them. Order the chicken of course, but also make sure you try the beans and rice… with bacon! You won’t be disappointed, I promise! Be forewarned that the atmosphere is real casual. Definitely nothing fancy or impressive, but who cares when you’re stuffing your face with delicious chicken and wiping your hands on your pants anyway?

I was cautious of the look of the place and that fact that it is far from home. We walked in and the place is tiny. Service was pretty good but then we waited and waited and waited for our food to come out. The kitchen, which we could see from our seats, is tiny. There was only 1 other table occupied during our visit. It took 45 mins for our food to come out. it was delicious but at this point I was starving. I would hate to see what it is like when it’s busy!

Very disappointed with this little restaurant. They usually don’t open on Tuesdays, but if they open they should have what is in the cart. No desserts, no appetizers, just chickens. And this is what bothers me most. I asked for a ½ chicken dark side, and the waitress told me that I have to pay $ 1.50 more. I said it was fine. When I received the bill I was surprised that for just ½ a chicken I ended up paying $ 16.54 plus taxes. I was in rush and did not check with the dinner menu, but then I did in their web site, and ½ a chicken with fries as I ordered is $ 11.99, which still expensive, but how $ 11.99 + $ 1.50 = $ 16.54? $ 3 more? That’s not serious. I have just received an arrogant answer from the owner. He demands that we, his clients, ask him about the way how he prices his food because the lack of transparency of the menu, as we should know it before hand. Listen, a $ 5 for a small basket of fries is not fair. At this rhythm and with that philosophy to do business this restaurant will never grow. I feel sorry that this is not the best representation of authentic Peruvian food. God bless and illuminate you to do good business sir.

The beef dish with onions and fries was exactly like in Peru. The chicken dish did tasted good but was not very authentic I was expecting the traditional yellow sauce dish with potato, chicken, and egg. Instead it was roasted chicken with beans and rice, good but typical. Also they didn’t have ceviche which is a major part of what I loved about being Peru. They did have inka cola though.

The food is good but they open at different times everyday(depending when the owner and his children get there) and instead of coming in early and making chicken they start when they open(which means if you go for chicken at 11am, you have to wait an hour and a half) the prices are super inflated considering the atmosphere and the fact they have the NASTIEST outdoor bathrooms. Lastly, they charge a ALOT for sauces. I think last time I was there it was $ 1.50 per sauce(yes even dine in pays) and they are tiny! Save the trip and frustration, there are better restaurants in Orlando!!! One last note ***BEWARE*** call before you make the drive there as they run out of chicken and close at different times everyday(yes, you read correctly a chicken place runs out of chicken everyday)

Quaint, simple and affordable. The roasted chicken was on point and for a great price. Would definitely return. Any time I can find a place to grab a good meal I’m happy.

Just had lunch here after scoping the reviews, had a half rotisserie chicken and fries, and my roommate had a quarter chicken with rice and red beans. Both were fantastic, the marinade on the chicken was super tasty, oh yea the chimmichurri sauce was delicious, and the dude who served us was nice and attentive too. Will definitely return soon.

Amazing rotisserie chicken and the dipping sauces are fantastic(everyone talks about them). We found this place through Unilocal, and although somewhat of a «dive» the owners keep it very clean, and they themselves are full of culture and history which you can taste in the food. I only took 1 star off, because although the Lomo Saltado was really good, I have to reluctantly confess I’ve had better, but to be fair it was out of town.

5 Stars for a place that reminds me why I love Unilocal. That’s right– a true hole-in-the-wall heaven! You walk in to the tiny dining room and notice the Peruvian décor right away. This. This is going to be a good meal. For some reason Orlando has very few Peruvian restaurants and I’ve been in search of a new staple. The owner greeted us and brought us drinks right away. From that moment on we were treated to exceptionally friendly service– meeting the whole family behind My Family’s Chicken. Dishes you MUST order: — Causa: This stacked dish includes layers of yellow mashed potato and tuna over lettuce. It is a favorite dish of mine and I was really excited when it arrived. First off, you’ll have plenty to share with this appetizer. It’s quite large and the presentation is really beautiful. I could taste the slightest hint of aji(Peruvian yellow chili) and when I spoke with the chef later(the matriarch of the family) she told me that it takes a while to get the dishes out because she makes everything fresh– even mashing the potatoes to order! It’s clear and this Causa made me smile from ear to ear! — Papa a la Huancaina: Wow– another sharing appetizer that knocked our socks off. A large plate full of potato slices under homemade Huancaina sauce(yellow cheesy sauce with aji). I am not a huge fan of spice, but this had the perfect amount. My fiancé literally licked the plate clean(I didn’t even blame him– it was so good). — Lomo Saltado: This dish, consisting of strips of beef sautéed with tomatoes and red onions, served with rice and french fries, is another favorite. I’ve had a ton of terrible incarnations, and have tried to make it myself– to dismal results. This one, though not quite as good as some that I’ve had in Lima, is really, really good. The meat is tender and not overly fatty, the sauce is wonderfully savory, and the fries and rice are obviously made to order. Overall, this is a lovely family-owned business with a small menu(which I very much appreciate), who make their food with love and integrity. «Nothing is frozen here,» the mother told me as we paid for our meal. «That’s why I apologize that it takes some time to come out.» No apology necessary! It’s worth the(not really long at all) wait!

I found My Family’s Chicken way over priced for what you get. I went in to grab a chicken to go for my family. We have two kids under two so going out is a challenge. When he said it was $ 16.99 for the chicken I was like«does that include sides?» Nope. That was just for the bird. It’s $ 21.99 for a single chicken with fries. He assured me it would be the best chicken I ever had, they run out its so good, etc. We ate the chicken and I wasn’t all that impressed. It was very salty with lots of spice, cumin flavor was very powerful. It was okay but I’d much rather buy three Costco rotisserie chickens for the same price it costs to get a small bird at this place.

The chicken was Ammmma-zing. The papa a la huancaina, they have really put a lot of effort to make it taste as original as it would be at your grandmas table in peru. I cant wait to bring home another meal from my new favorite and prob only Peruvian joint.

Be aware! This place is overrated. Prices are too high for location and quality. tables are disgusting and the owner has no customer service at all. For a person that lived 20 years in Peru, this is not even close to authentic, maybe better than Boston market and nothing else. There are so many Peruvian restaurants around that are way better than this one… What a response from the owner. Another star to his Customer service, way to go! Maybe more people will go to your trashy restaurant… This is not an upset review, it is a review from A customer that is not content with your customer service, it is not about a drink either, it is about the way you treat people, there is a big difference.

A classic example of the value of Unilocal to the traveller. I wouldn’t have tried this gem if I was standing across the street(if upwind) without being referred, much less drive 9 miles across town specifically to go here. After enjoying what was possibly the best chicken I’ve ever had, I’d drive 50 easy, maybe more. If you are disappointed with this place, believe me, it’s you.

I went here for the first time today and I was told they already ran out of grilled chicken. The place was opened for just 10 minutes… the next batch would take 40 minutes. So I figured I’d still eat here instead of going over to Mediterranean Blue next door. I had the Lomo Special and it was delicious. I was also dissapointed they had no chichamorada and the food took about 25 minutes even though we were the only ones there(three of us). I’ll give this place another shot but be warned. It might be a good idea not to drop by here for lunch or call ahead if anything.

My Family’s Chicken is SO good — just try it if you are a FL native or a visitor. I did a quick Unilocal search on my app as soon as I landed in FL, hungry for a hearty, flavorful lunch. According to Unilocal,MFC was one of the highest rated joints close-ish to MCO airport. There isn’t much to say on the freestanding building’s façade or interior. It is a hole-in-the wall, very plain and simple. I was here after the lunch crowd, so I was seated quickly by a sweet girl who was my cashier and server. I ordered half a Peruvian grilled chicken, with sides of beans and rice. The chicken was delicious, juicy and tender and so good with both the Peruvian yellow mayonnaise and chimichurri sauce. The skin wasn’t crisp like I prefer — but still so smoky good that I threw all concerns for cholesterol out the window and devoured it, sporkful by plastic sporkful(we’ll always have Lipitor…). But it was the beans that were my favorite part of the meal — so thick, bacon-y, velvety and comforting. Wow. Flavorful more than spicy, the beans held on to some major heat — the first bite was the degree of magma. I mixed some of the plain steamed rice into the beans, which cooled the sauce down considerably. Also, nice touch serving the beans separate from the rice. I hate when the two are mixed together and then they become a mushy, inedible glop. MFC isn’t exactly cheap eats for lunch, but they do serve big family platters that looked very reasonable. The quality of the food was worth the price, I’d recommend and eat there again in a heartbeat!

I was in the area so I decided to use my Unilocal app to locate a place to have lunch. I choose My Family’s Chicken because it was near and the high reviews. I would have never found this place if it wasn’t for the Unilocal community. Before I even turned into the parking lot, I could smell the aroma of grilled chicken. I was the first customer, so I was able to chat with the owner. He was able to give me a little background on the Peruvian cuisine. He told me that his wife is the master chef and prepares all of the food. She makes all the food from scratch using old fashion recipes from Peru. He advised me that all of the chicken is cooked over a charcoal grill. I ordered the ¼ chicken white meat with fries which came with the amazing chimichurri sauce. I was inquiring about another dish I seem on Unilocal that came with a yellow sauce. The owner went in the kitchen and came out with a free sample for me to try it with my chicken. The chicken was just fabulous seasoned with all kind of spices and herbs. Both sauces were spot on. However, my favorite sauce was the Yellow sauce. I was sold at first bite. I will definitely come back to this restaurant again.

If you’re looking for a sophisticated upscale restaurant, keep driving. BUT if you want great food that is freshly cooked and delicious, I think you’ll be glad you stopped by. My partner and I live nearby and are tired of all the chain restaurants around Sodo. We’ve really enjoyed the new flavors and the friendliness of the family staff. This is our third visit so far. Give them a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

This little family-owned restaurant is such a well-kept secret that I never noticed it even though I’ve lived less than a mile away. The main star on tap is their rotisserie chicken. They only cook a limited amount throughout the day, so if you’re planning on stopping by within an hour or so of closing time, be sure to call and see what they have left. On my visit, it was a Wednesday at 7:30, and they had only one quarter of a chicken left. No worries, that was just enough. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, juicy throughout, and overall I was quite happy. We also ordered a Lomo Saltado sandwich(sauteed beef filet) and Papa a la Huancaina(sliced potatoes in a spicy cream sauce). Both dishes were crazy good. The staff is all family, and they are very friendly and helpful, quick to explain all their dishes and how they are prepared. They also mentioned they plan on remodeling soon, so I’m excited to see that. Although the current feel of eating inside someone’s home certainly feels charming. Definitely will be back!

Yummmmmmm! I believe this is a perfect example of why Unilocal exists. Driving by this spot, never would have I thought to myself«oh, I should try this spot!» It’s just not much from outside. However, I was looking for Peruvian food and I came across these reviews and thanks to Dana H and some other reviews, I was sold. I had to try this place. I pulled up and parked in the back and walking in, noticed the bathrooms were outside, which is weird but hey, if that is how the building is, that’s how the building is. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the young man working and he was so welcoming. When we informed him this was our first time, he was very excited and suggested some dishes. The décor really goes along with the outside too, minimal, casual and very basic. I started with a sangria(beer/wine/sangria only) and it was delicious! Not much of a fan of how the fruit were tiny little cubes but the flavor was delicious. The tiny fruit chunks made it hard to drink towards the end. I just used my fork to eat the fruit after. Ha! I wanted a true Peruvian experience so we began with Papa a la huancaina — boiled yellow potatoes, with spicy, creamy sauce called Huancaína sauce. Now, I am not a huge cold potato or spicy fan but I have to say, this was absolutely delicious. Also to note, everything is made fresh to order so it’s not the quickest meal but not excruciating to wait either. I appreciated the freshness. I wanted to try the roasted chicken but the young man suggested the Lomo saltado so my date and I decided to get both and share. So, we went with: Roasted chicken with beans and rice and the Lomo saltado — marinated strips of sirloin, or other beef steak, with onions, tomatoes, and other ingredients, served with fried potato slices(french fries) and rice. OMWORD — The chicken was the most perfect chicken I have ever tasted. It was cooked to perfection and the flavoring was mouth watering. The steak was also cooked perfect, tender and really melted in my mouth. I was thrown off by the fries underneath but they had the juices of the meat and flavor of the onions was delicious. We pretty much cleared the plates — yes, that good! So moral of the story: Try this spot!
