Just visited this place for the first time last night. Our server, Gareth was excellent and my mom, sister and I shared the wings and sweet potato chips apps and the shady lane drink during happy hour. Yum! Great value for the amount of food we got. We then ordered the fish special and a salad to share. All of it was expertly prepared with lots of flavor. The atmosphere was nice and they had a great selection of bar, booth and table seating. I will totally visit again!

So both times that I came to visit this restaurant, I sat at the bar. The first time we only came for drinks the bartender that was behind the bar did not know their craft cocktail menu and had to remake the same drink multiple times. The other drink my boyfriend ordered she had someone else make because she was not comfortable making it. he ended up having to remake it because he forgot the egg whites that went in the cocktail. The second time I went with a girlfriend to have some dinner and cocktails. The bartender that night was amazing! He knew what he was doing and our drinks came out looking completely different and mich tastier. I ordered a burger mid rare and when it came out there was barely any pink. The gentleman that ran our food replied by telling me they have a different standard for mid rare when I showed him??! After I gave him a crazy look he took it back and the next burger came out perfect. I gave this place 3 stars because of the bartender our second visit and because both times management adjusted our bills and appologized for our troubles. Great potential, just need to tighten up a bit.

My husband and I we’re looking for new places to eat and stopped in. Food was good, could have been more flavor in the green tomatoes, Server was really nice. Great style inside.

This review is coming a little late… The first time I came here, it was for brunch. They had a small, one-page, artisanal menu that was incredible and hard to choose from. We had endless mimosas of multiple flavors. It was one of the best brunches I ever had and the service was impeccable despite it being pretty crowded. The second time I visited the Outpost was a few months later. There was only one other table besides our party of two, and they were receiving their food as we sat down. The waiter didn’t come to take our order after seating is for about 20 minutes. Not even for a drink order. Our drinks didn’t come for 15 minutes, and our food took an hour. During that hour, my boyfriend finished his beer and wanted another, but he was nowhere to be found. Once we received our food, I noticed immediately that my chicken was raw on the inside. Additionally, the menu had changed to a normal southern American multi-page menu that was fairly uninspired. My boyfriend is a manager at a restaurant, and things happen. We left a 15% tip and swore to never come back. I have heard similarly awful things from friends who live in the area. From what I understand, they oscillate between amazing and awful. So, take your chances here. We never received an apology for the service, no one checked to make sure the food is done, we weren’t offered any kind of remedy(I’ve had restaurants do that when I didn’t even detect a problem, I’m usually pretty easy going). We didn’t make a fuss because we just aren’t those kind of customers, but maybe we should have? In response to the business owner: we are small business owners ourselves. Blaming us for not complaining when our food took that long in an empty restaurant is *insane.* When food takes that long and chicken is still undercooked… Well, that’s just awful. I wasn’t mad we paid for our meal. I was mad that we waited that long for raw food. We didn’t make a fuss because we don’t want or need a free meal, and we hate when people do that. Maybe you thought«remedy» meant a free meal to me, but it does not. I meant even so much as an apology or recognition that things weren’t going well. I’m glad you have better staff, but blaming customers makes this a one star experience for me, now.

My husband and I have now been here a combined three times(together and with other friends) and have had a wonderful experience every time. The service is like eating with family in a cozy space. But it’s the food and the reasonable prices that keep us coming back. The menu continues to change, which is great, but don’t get hooked on one thing, because it might not be there next time. But never fear, something else good will arrive it its place. They also have a wonderful bar, craft cocktails and a good happy hour. We were so pleased that a friend told us about this place. It’s in our rotation now as a go-to for«where should we go?»

We have been here twice for brunch already. The first time some friends suggested it and I honestly was a little grudging in agreeing to it because usually in an authentic Southern place there is very little for a person with my specific dietary needs. Once I went over the menu I saw that I had a couple of options(as long as I removed the bacon/sausage) and ordered the shrimp with grits. As much as I prefer to stay away from consuming any animals, on ocassion I will have shrimp or fish. The dish was fantastic, the grits were delicious and the shrimp deliciously grilled. So today, on Mother’s Day my hubby suggested brunch here(our daughters are both out of town and he wanted to treat his baby momma because he thinks that I am the bomb). Here is the thing, they are a restaurant that makes everything from scratch so they will adjust any dish to what you can or can’t have. I rarely find any restaurant that is this incredibly flexible with me and I can’t even begin to explain how appreciative I am of this. I had a breakfast platter without the beef and they were kind enough to throw in some grits. It was an amazing plate with grits, home fries, eggs and asparragus. Hours later and I am still full! I also found out that their potato pancakes are flour free!!! SCORE! My hubby shared his with me and they were super yummy. For a meat/gluten heavy menu these guys know how to treat people with restrictions. Love this place!

The food is really good. We had the outpost burger, baked Mac and cheese and the Plymouth. Amazing and delicious, but… they lost two stars because of the slow service, they ignore you the rest of the time, took me forever to get a refill from a different server. We also waited over 30 minutes for our lunch and they had two other tables… not busy at all… so no excuse.

We were there this Saturday during the street festival. First, they were out of their signature tots,(If you know that there’s going to be a festival right in front of your restaurant, why wouldn’t you be prepared!) so we ordered the fried mac n cheese balls that were strongly suggested by the server. After two bites, we realize that the inside is still frozen solid. We also had the fried okra, which was delicious, but they were $ 9 and an order, which consisted of about 10 pieces. Sheesh! Overall, we were not very pleased. The service was slow on top of everything else. My friend that lives nearby, told me the place was hit or miss and that he would not give it another chance. He’s been a few times before and was just never fully satisfied. With so many other options around this area, I don’t think I would either.

Great atmosphere! The service wasn’t great, waited about 10 minutes for our server to greet the table. I order a chicken breast sandwich and the chicken was so rubbery I couldn’t eat it. I sent it back and it took them about 15 minutes to send me a new sandwich. The second one was much better. Overall, good food, not so great service.

I’m a fan of brunch forever and always, and Outpost has the kind of brunch worth bragging about eating. The staff is insanely friendly and only adds to what is an overall excellent experience. I’ve also been here for dinner a few times and the service is still incredible. For brunch I’ve had the house Bloody Mary and have tried the mimosas. The Bloody Mary has the right amount of spice and kick to it and the mimosas are well proportioned between the champagne and orange juice. During dinner I’ve enjoyed house wine and a Moscow Mule. Both were extremely enjoyable. During brunch I’ve order the Bryn Mawr biscuit and have subbed a fried green tomato instead of ham, which was the perfect way to make the biscuit vegetarian. Most recently there was a crustless quiche that was a special for the day which was cooked well and served with a side of potatoes. For dinner in regards to vegetarian options I have found the specials to once again save me in a time of need. Dinner sides that I’ve enjoyed includes the baked cheesy mac, roasted seasonal vegetables, and the sautéed asparagus. An aspect of Outpost worth talking about is the service. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The best part is that when you return, they recognize who you are. There are few things I love more than feeling known and welcomed in an environment and this place definitely meets that expectation. As much as I enjoyed the dinner service, I would have to say overall Outpost excels at brunch. Make time for that!

I am officially in love with this place. I have been three times and every time the atmosphere and food have been on point. My first time was for dinner and I ordered chicken pot pie. It was fantastic! Way too big for just one meal though so I was able to take it home and eat it as leftovers and I think it just for better. My next visit I tried out their brunch and had something I can’t remember the name of but it has potatoes and ground beef and an egg and was deeeelicous! So the food is great, but what makes this place so awesome is the environment. The staff has been exceptionally friendly and helpful and in a very genuine way. Add to all of that their drink specials, two for one beer at happy hour(and their selection is decent) and bottomless mimosas at brunch for $ 16(with awesome juice choices like prickly pear and blueberry lemon). They also have live music and do cool events… bottom line, check this place out, you won’t be sorry!

Like Cheers, but not. Haha. More details to come. I brunched with a guest for the first time at Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen. The ‘neighborhood’ in the name is well-deserved and fitting of this spot. When I walked in I went to hug my guest and one of the servers said there’s an extra charge for that. I LOL’d. And our waiter Billy and the head hostess treated us just like friends, in a really good way. Those are the experiences I really enjoy. The restaurant has ‘rustic’ décor that at times seems a bit confused but was almost different enough to warrant it. It has ample space and a nice patio area to dine in, when it’s not too hot out. We each had one of their cocktails, the house mimosa and house Bloody Mary. Well I had two mimosas :)(each $ 5, and bottomless for $ 16 if you really want to get turnt up). Next time I’ll probably do bottomless. My guest had the Bryn Mawr biscuit, sub ham for fried green tomato, which makes for a great veg option. I enjoyed the Bacon Trifecta Benedict, yes you read that right: bacon three ways. It had a bacon aioli smeared on the English muffins, bacon strips, and bacon bits on top. And I got a side of grits. My only critique is the bacon on top was a bit too black and made pics not look as great ;). Oh and the grits I got didn’t have cheese, as I believe they were supposed to. That said, this is a must brunch spot. I’ll be returning for sure. As mentioned, service was great. Our server Billy was nice and attentive. And you know, everyone more or less seemed to b happy to be at work. You don’t see that often these days. 5-stars to Outpost!

For an unplanned Friday night dinner, there couldn’t have been a better place. From the moment we were greeted until we left, staff was attentive and courteous. Very busy for a Friday night, so we were sat at the bar with a nice view of the kitchen. As a big foodie, I personally loved watching all the kitchen action(a great behind the scene look). These folks work hard and deserve a lot of credit. Their work definitely paid off because everything we ordered was delicious– BBQ shrimp as our starter and the short ribs and steak salad as our entrees. The short ribs were quite popular tonight and we weren’t able to try. We were recommended the chicken fried chicken and I don’t think my boyfriend could have been any more pleased. From start to finish each item was spectacular. Great flavor, cooked perfectly and hearty portions. Because they sold out of the short ribs they treated us to an order of homemade tater tots, my boyfriend’s entrée and fried Oreos. Extremely generous of them and unexpected. The tots had such amazing flavor and I’m munching on an Oreo as we speak! Beyond good with the homemade whipped cream to dip in. I’ve been to many local restaurants, but have never felt more welcomed and appreciated as a customer. This was our first time here and we will definitely be returning. Excellent customer service truly does enhance your meal and experience. So thank you to all those working hard tonight. Not enough praises can be given! Until next time short ribs…

Split an order of the short ribs with a friend. The ribs were quite favorable, mashed potatoes were great. The 5TINY slivers of asparagus were barely noticeable on the plate. We ordered a side of mac & cheese. There was NO flavor, cheese or otherwise. No addition of salt could bring out any flavor. We noted it to the waitress at the end of the meal. She noted that ours was dry and usually it is gooey(cheesy) at the bottom of the tureen. We stated that we weren’t looking for comps, but to bring the attention to the chef. No management came by to inquire and follow up. Saw a couple seated after us getting corn bread. I asked if they ordered it and they said no, it was brought out to them. Left me wondering why we weren’t offered any bread. Atmosphere was good, loved the bucket of toys and crayons at the table. Not certain if I will return or not. Far too many other places to eat with just ok service/food results.

Cozy little restaurant with delicious food! I came here last night with my boyfriend and a couple of our friends. We made reservations for 8PM through OpenTable, and our table was ready promptly at 8. Off to a good start. I checked in on Unilocal and was excited to see a Saturday night drink special available via Unilocal.BOGO beverages on a Saturday night? Nice! We ended up not taking advantage of the offer since we ordered bottles of wine, but it’s good to know for future reference. Our server was very sweet and extremely helpful with food recommendations. I ordered the BLFT(fried tomato), and she suggested that I add a fried egg and house-made pimento cheese($ 1 add-on, each). I added the egg… a very nice touch. My friends also ordered the BLFT, and my boyfriend ordered the meatloaf. The BLFTs were so delicious. Lots of bacon, great bread and fries that were seasoned and cooked to perfection. As for the meatloaf, it was moist and flavorful. Be sure to ask for onions with the meatloaf. It really completes the meal. There were a couple of negatives… most of the bottles of red wine had completely sold out. While there were about 15 red wines listed on the menu, apparently there were only 3 types left last night. No Pinot. But we ended up with a nice cabernet. The other negative is that our server(really nice girl) may need just a little more training /experience opening bottles of wine. The cork broke, and we ended up with a few little pieces of cork in the wine. Not the best start, but she recovered nicely. I understand. I was a server for years, and it takes time to master the art of serving wine. The best part is that our entire bill was about $ 112 total. That’s for 4 entrees and 2 bottles of wine. We were pleasantly pleased.

The other day my wife and I were in College Park and in the mood to try something new. We stopped by a while back but there was a long wait so we opted to come back another time. Well this was that time. We elected to sit at the bar because the patio area had a couple of families and was full up. I took in all of the cool details around the place and really loved the vibe of the place. Because of the holiday they were offering their brunch menu and mama elected to try the fried green tomatoes and I tried the Outpost Burger and Fries. I requested Mama chose one of the Mimosa choices and I stuck to iced tea with lime. Our food arrived and everything looked great. My picture of the fried greed tomatoes was blurry so I did not include it in the review. My burger was ordered Medium Rare because I was informed that they grind their meat IN-House. Unfortunately it arrived closer to medium well but since it was still juicy so I opted to keep it. The taste was very nice and I now knew why it was their signature burger. The fries had a good flavor but I was expecting rustic fries because of the overall atmosphere. Freshly cut fries are highly preferred with a burger this good! Mama loved her mimosa but the fried green tomatoes were another story. The breading was not sticking and the tomatoes themselves were not seasoned. She sent it back and chose to get a burger like mine but with the addition of Jalapeño peppers. When her burger arrived she was very pleased. Her burger was cooked just as she requested it and I have never seen her devour a burger that big before. Atmosphere — 5 Service — 5 Outpost Burger — 4⁄5(one was a little overcooked) Fries — 3(nice flavor but fresh cut are preferred) Fried Green Tomatoes — 2(not well seasoned and the breading not firmly attached) Mimosa — 5(According to the wife) If you want to check out a place with a cool factor that serves a great burger… Outpost has that. Even though the fried green tomatoes were disappointing, it is nothing that can’t be adjusted. Lord knows I have forgotten to season stuff once in a while but the fries should be freshly cut to better match the genre of the place. The fried green tomatoes and mimosa my wife had were apparently comped and that was appreciated. The big question is… Would I recommend them? Definitely…

A few friends and myself were looking for someplace to eat while over in the College park area and walked by Outpost. it was a Saturday afternoon and it was not that busy so we decided to check it out. There were 7 of us so that put us at a large table near the restrooms. Our host also became our server and was lots of fun. They had a selection of craft beers and I tried the whiskey stout which was very good. The menu was clear and easy to understand. I went with the meat loaf sandwich with a side of hominy and red beans. Both were good but I was expecting something spectacular… and it was just okay. Others at the table had a sandwich with turkey and a fried egg on it. They seemed to love theirs. I guess I just did not pick the right thing. The décor was okay. Nothing stood out that made me remember the décor except for aluminum tin on some of the tables with toys(most were broken) to play with while waiting for your food. And Waiting is what you will be doing. I did find the server fun but the food coming out of the back took its time. One of my friends who had eaten there before said that was his only complaint about the place. Atmosphere = 7 Service = 7 Food = 7 It was average food, served in an average place, with average service. Not great but not bad. I will try it again and see of anything changes in the future. Enjoy.

I noticed this place last week when we walked up Edgewater Drive to Rusteak. I mentioned to my partner we should come back and check it out and so we did tonight. Service was very friendly and engaging. We were greeted warmly upon entering and our waitress excitedly pointed out many features including specialty craft brews upon hearing it was our first visit. She offered me a free tasting of some of the beers but I was surprised when she brought me a flight of four different 2 ounce servings. It’s a great way to try them out before committing because there was one that stood out for me as the best and I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. Hot cornbread and soft butter arrived on the table soon after that. The cornbread was not too sweet or cakey. Chilled water in a corked glass bottle was also brought to the table, and the menus resemble vintage tabloid papers from the 30s or 40s. The whole place has a very upscale country chic vibe to it, which made for a very comfortable, cozy atmosphere. There’s a nice outdoor patio which I look forward to enjoying as the weather cools down. I ordered the homemade meatloaf with cauliflower mash and collard greens. The collards were delicious, although a bit peppery. May be a bit spicy for some tastes, but I found them delicious. The meatloaf was good, but didn’t rise to the high expectations set by some of the other items. The top of it was baked a little too hard, and the gravy was rather spicy as well. The cauliflower mash was similarly OK. I sampled the lobster macaroni and cheese which was rich and decadent, especially considering the ample portion size. In fact most of the meals are too large for one person to finish so don’t be afraid to ask for a doggy bag. We shared both entrées which was smart, because the mac & cheese did not come with any side items. We chatted with One of the owners. It’s run by a husband and wife team, the wife is the head chef for Florida Hospital as well as the restaurant. They have a small kitchen which means everything is prepared fresh each day. You can also order custom dishes suited to your diet and preference, such as gluten-free, vegan, etc. they obviously take great pride in what they do.

3 stars for the food, 4 stars for the staff and ambiance. On a rare summer Orlando day when we weren’t sweltering in overtbearing sunlight or the«air-so-thick-you-could-cut-it-with-a-knife» humidity following rain, my friend and I found ourselves quite comfortable on the patio of Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen. They have big fans on the covered patio that were aimed perfectly to circulate air but not blow everything around. When we walked in we were greeted warmly, then seated by one of the owners himself. He explained a bit of the history of the place, everything but the condiments made in house, run by himself and his wife, etc. The waitress was just as charming and pleasant. The menus are designed to look like old newspapers, a cute touch. The décor inside is very southern ranch-style with old cooking and farm kitsch on the walls, benches covered with burlap sacks, etc. But not in a cluttered, dirty way, it’s all arranged to create atmosphere without removing the feel of a slightly upscale café. So the food. Lots of southern favorites like fried green tomatoes and grits, comfort food like meatloaf and mac & cheese. My friend and I both wanted to try the Southern BLT, so he got that with their specialty tater tots instead of the included fries and I was intrigued by the Key Lime Caesar Salad. Food came out quickly for the lunch rush. The BLT was good. REALLY good. I usually don’t like it when people futz with the classic, I like my plain BLT on wheat with mayo. But they made enough small changes to make it better than average without losing the integrity of the sandwich(I’m one of those picky people who swears that a BLT with turkey is not a «Turkey BLT» but rather a «turkey sandwich with bacon, lettuce and tomato»). What made it «southern» was the fried green tomato in place of the normal red tomato and a delicious aioli rather than plain mayo. Perfectly fried and not yet mushy, covered in field greens with applewood smoked bacon cooked to perfection on crunchy but not hard toasted white bread. The only disappointment on the plate were the tots. There were only 3 — granted they were about double the size of a regular tater tot, but they also lacked flavor even though I could SEE flecks of herbs and spices in the potato. Later on, I’d be further disappointed by the $ 2.50 upcharge for three mediocre tots. Should’ve stuck with the fries. As for the salad, I’m conflicted. On one hand, I love that they charred the half head of romaine that came on my plate. I love charred lettuce salads. Unfortunately, the char also made the limper top ends extremely hard to cut, as evidenced by my eventual hand-tearing of the leaves. A sharper knife would’ve been good to include with this plate. I also had an issue with the flavor of the dressing. I could definitely taste the key lime, no doubt, but the caesar was lost to me. It looked like caesar, felt like it, but I didn’t get the creamy, garlickey, cheesy, anchovy-salty flavor. So really, it was charred romaine with a key lime cream dressing. Kinda good, but not what I was expecting. The prices aren’t too bad, $ 8 for the BLT and Fries(if we left it as-is) and $ 9 for the salad. We almost opted for the S’mores which were done tableside on a mini campfire with Orlando-made Wondermade marshmallows, but we were pretty full. We gave this place a shot because we had a Bungalower coupon. I’m sad to say that it just didn’t impress me enough to warrant a return trip. But it’s by no means bad, and I suggest that if you’re the least bit curious you give it a shot. You may very well fall in love.

What I like about Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen is that the food is cooked from scratch. I came across this restaurant while on Edgewater dr and looking for place to grab a quick bite. The restaurant is nice, it has an old time feel to it which is very nice. They serve Sunday brunch from 10 am to 3 pm(to be verified with the restaurant) with unlimited bloody marys or mimosas and live entertainment. They have large screen TVs(about 2) and the night i went the Orlando City Soccer team was playing making the noise level very loud and somewhat very busy. Their menu has a lot of option from pulled pork sandwich, BLT to classic burger. They also have really neat vintage bottles of soda(they don’t have fountain sodas). I appreciated the fact that the server was on top of things, bringing us water and asking us if we needed help with the menu or if we had any questions about the menu. My friend was leaning towards the pull pork sandwich and was able to sample their homemade bbq sauce. I decided to try the Outpost Burger which came with a side of french fries. The restaurant was very busy and our waiter let us know that our order was the next to be prepared in the kitchen which i thought was considerate and nice of him to let us know. I really liked the burger but my only complain is that is was well cooked to the point that it was slightly burned. The french fries were fresh and I am glad I didn’t substitute them for another side, they were really food. In all honesty the service was good, the food was good also and the fact that everything is cooked from scratch is a definite plus. I am giving them 3 stars only because my burger was slightly burned. Other than that, their Sunday Brunch menu looks good and I am considering stopping by very soon.
