Saigon Subs near E. Colonial and Shine, is priced a bit higher than nearby banh mi restaurants. Still, the Sardine Sub I had today was pretty good. There isn’t anything for true vegetarians here, but perhaps they’ll accommodate upon request.

I’ve always wanted to try a vietnam sub. Everything kept posting it on Facebook and Unilocal.I actually passed the Resturant because I wasn’t familiar with the Vietnamese language. The inside is clean. Ordered there best sub #1 roast beef sub. Bread was good. Tasted really good with the hot sauce. Would definitely eat there again!

Very nice Vietnamese sub shop. Try the #1 or the roast pork, very tasty. Dine in or carry out. One of these is not enough, but 2 is too much, so split 3 between 2 people. Prices are just astonishingly low.

Along the very clustered Mills 50 disguised and over shadowed by all the other screaming signs around it is this little hole in the wall. The entrance is best made from the back parking lot. This is the home of, like the name says Vietnamese subs or Banh Mi. There are several and various combos but who wants to mess with that when everything sounds so good. Just get it with everything. Snuggled in a sub roll is liver pâté, other meats of goodness, fresh cilantro, carrots, cucumber, and red peppers. Some people like the roll toasted, I prefer not to. This little piece of Vietnamese import is heaven wrapped in paper. Love it.

Fellow Unilocaler Chris R. and I found ourselves in Saigon Subs yesterday after not having any luck getting into the Di Vang coffee shop just a few doors down.(We didn’t see anyone inside, so they probably were closed.) I’d never been to Saigon Subs before, and am mostly unfamiliar with many of the eateries/shops similar to it and along this stretch of Colonial Dr. since not many of my friends/family are into such places. Chris and I were only here for 10 – 15 minutes, maybe, and only had Vietnamese iced coffees, but I can safely give the establishment a favorable rating. You’ll probably want to see the other reviews — Walter S.‘s is full of detail, as are many of the others — for a better idea of what it’s like. His review is right on the money as far as the environment and atmosphere. Chris and I enjoyed our coffees here; I don’t know much about them, having only had Vietnamese coffee here and at Di Vang, but they are very good. The ones here at Saigon Subs are rich and dark, and I noticed some sort of chocolate-y flavor to it. I don’t know — it was excellent, but I can’t quite place what other ingredients might be in it. The coffee I had at Di Vang was similar to this, though not as dark. Since I’ve never had bánh mì(I don’t like pork, but maybe I’ll get to try one of these sandwiches sometime if I can find it with chicken instead of pork), I don’t know that I can provide much insight about the menu here, though it did look simple yet interesting, and I did see a few other things I would’ve liked to try at some point. Maybe I will make it back here to eat someday? The other reviews are predominantly favorable and you should feel assured knowing that you’ll get some authentic food in here. The staff was very friendly and accommodating yesterday, as well. Give this place a look if you’re into Vietnamese dining, bánh mì or are just looking for a tasty Vietnamese coffee.

The only thing that I’ve tried is the Grilled Pork Bahn Mi and I keep coming back for it. It is a cool place with a few tables of regulars dining and watching TV. The Bahn Mi is really good. You need to make sure you get the bread toasted.

I’ve had 2 food addictions the last couple of months. Dominican Chimichurris and Vietnamese Banh Mi. Literally, not a week has gone by where I haven’t eaten at least one of the 2. Saigon Subs is an ideal place to pick up Banh Mi. I love this location for it’s simplicity. A café that serves Subs and Smoothies. When you walk through the doors, there’s a single walkway flanked by tables, booths and flat screens that lead you toward the back where the order counter is located. I’ve come here on Sundays and the climate behind the blacked out front windows is boistrous as the clientele hoot and holler during NFL games shown on the 5 – 6 flat screens. Definitely a hangout for the local Vietnamese culture. You may catch a gaggle out in front, smoking, chatting, shootin’ the breeze. But don’t let that intimidate you. Do yourself a favor, throw down the gauntlet and order up some Banh Mi. Their menu is nothing more than a single 4″ x 6″ card listing their Banh Mi and Smoothie variety. The subs range in price from $ 3.00 to $ 5.00. My personal favorite is the grilled pork, or, the combination. Depending if I want hot or cold meat. But 90% of the time I go with the barbecue grilled pork. The meat has such a FABULOUS taste attributed to the sweet honey glaze they marinate the pork in. The warmth of the meat serves as an excellent contrast to the fresh, cool cilantro, slightly pickled carrot and daikon radish. Then it’s finished off with a little bit of fish sauce to give it juuuuust enough pizazz. So scrumptious. If I were asked where to get Banh Mi in Orlando, Saigon Subs would definitely be one of the first to come to mind.

Located on the corner of Shine Ave and Colonial Drive, Saigon Subs serves the ubiquitous Vietnamese subs«Banh Mi». They also serve Vietnamese coffee aka café sua da Saigon Subs has pretty decent banh mi subs, their baguette bread is pretty good and they fill it with the right amount of meats and veggies. They also serve other things like vietnamese noodle soups. one of the better banh mi places in Orlando. Prices are around $ 3 each

After walking past this place numerous times we finally stopped in today for lunch. They have a very small and limited menu, which I actually like in this case, to keep me from having to make a decision between ten different things. I had the banh mi saigon, which was bologna, salami, chopped ham, pickled veg, jalapenos and cilantro. They slathered a little bit of mayo inside the bread and that brought the whole thing together. The bread was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside and served warm. The atmosphere is typical for the area and the service was nice and of course the price was super cheap. I’ll be back for sure.

Watching the Food Networks Great Truck Race we wanted to try a Banh Mi. We had never heard of them before. Off to Saigon Subs we went. We tried 2 different subs. Other than the HOT peppers it was awesome. Wished we lived a little closer. It was an awesome price for a awesome sandwich. Give it a try. We also tried La Bale to get a comparison. I liked the atmosphere much better at Saigon then La Bale. Both were yummy. Give it a try. You will be surprised.

My second stop on my Vietnamese sandwich discovery tour lands me at Saigon Subs. Although service great tasting Vietnamese subs, I would recommend people to go to Ba Le Bakery on Mills instead. I’ve tried a sunny side up sub here and a roasted pork sub. The bread was good, and the meat was hot in this one, but the veggies weren’t as explosive and delicious as in Ba Le Bakery. The Sunny Side up sub was nothing but two sunny side up eggs and a French baguette. It’s up to you to get the eggs inside.
