Des appointed! The food was horrible, the staff looked as being Under the influence of alcohol, my husband ordered the steak, they came back saying that are out of steak on a Friday night!!! I ordered a Rubben sandwich that I couldn’t eat. Tasted disgusting. Publix makes it better. This place needs chef Ramsey to help them out. Shame of the beautiful décor but it is not what brings you customers.

This place came highly recommended by a co-worker of mine and it definitely didn’t disappoint! It was my first time having German food so I don’t have much to compare it to(although my friend grew up with German food and has tried many other German restaurants in the area and she LOVED it too) but it was delicious! The décor inside really makes you feel as if you’re somewhere in Germany and the service staff was all very nice and welcoming! We went to grab lunch on our work break and our waiter was very attentive and made sure we got our food in a timely manner because of this. Definitely recommend!

A solid German restaurant/pub in the downtown area. i stopped by Schumann’s the other day to grab a bite of lunch. Located in the heart of the Church Street District, Schumann’s is a German restaurant that I had found myself walking by time and time again without actually stopping in to see how it stacked up to other German spots. After having lunch here last Tuesday, I wish I had known about this place sooner. When I arrived, a very nice bartender/waitress named Gigi greeted me and told me to sit wherever I wanted. I decided to sit at the bar since I was looking for my lunch to be as quick as possible. Gigi brought me a menu and went over some of the various options they had available. They have all of your schnitzels, sausages, and other German favorites, but I decided that I wanted to try their cod. It isn’t easy to find cod downtown for a decent price, so a cod meal for under $ 15 seemed like the ticket. While waiting for my meal, Gigi and another waiter told me about the restaurant. They have apparently only been around for about 3 years, but they have already been rated as the second best German restaurant in Orlando, behind Hollerbach’s Willow Tree up in Sanford(a point that really seemed to irk all of them). However, due to the declining foot traffic on Church in recent months, lunch business hasn’t been great(which explained why there were only 3 other people in the restaurant around noon). The restaurant itself really goes out of its way to be authentically German, so they told me that they try to focus on providing good food rather than marketing tricks that other restaurants use in the area. After a few minutes, they brought me out my cod and confirmed their contention about good food. The food was perfectly cooked, and the little half crispy/half noodle things under the cod made for a fun mixture to go with the fish. While the cod wasn’t the very best I’ve ever had, it was still really really good, especially for the price. After I finished my meal, Gigi urged me to tell everyone about the food. I have to admit that, if you want German food or cod, this seems like the place to go if you don’t want to go to Sanford. Overally, Schumann’s is a nice authentic German restaurant with fun authentic décor and solid food. While I still think Willow Tree is a tad bit better overall, Schumann’s has earned its second place standing and is definitely worth checking out.

We just ate the Sunday Brunch. They give you so much food for your $ 20. Unfortnately, it wasn’t the best German food we’ve ever had. But the Dunkel beer was good. The staff was very friendly and the ambience was great. We woul probably give it another try.

Let me start by saying we used to live in Germany. The ambiance of this place screams German! I love this picnic style table and décor. We happened upon this place by accident, well after having dinner so we were only able to enjoy a few beers. The prices were reasonable and I haven’t seen this many German beer options on tap in one location since we actually lived there. We read through the menu while having our beers and the menu had most of the traditional dishes. I really hope they have specials that will include some of our favorites. I am only giving this place 4 stars right now because we didn’t get to try to the food so I will update this review as soon as we get back there for dinner. … We can’t wait!!!

My boyfriend and I ate here on a rainy Saturday night and it totally hit the spot. It was my first time having German food at a restaurant and I was not disappointed! I loved the schnitzel I ordered(It’s fried meat) and the sides that came with it(vinegary red cabbage and potato salad). Schumann’s is definitely my go to for German food.

Happy that this new edition to downtown has survived it’s first 2 years. I am grateful that we have other cuisine available to eat other than all the burger, pizza, sushi, and new american joints around here. I have eaten at this place 3 times since they’ve opened and with different sized parties each time. Every single time they have been consistent in great service and delicious food. Everything I’ve tried has tasted great and everyone that I’ve brought here has agreed. Their smoked salmon is my favorite — I’ve had it as an app, salad and entrée. My husband’s favorite is the pork schnitzel. He got it jagerhaus style last time and I think that was the best. The pretzel is the way to go if you want to order an app. I’ve also had the spatzel which is like mac and cheese and the curry meatballs. All 3 are good, but the pretzel is the best. I love the décor of the place and everyone there seems to know their beers and the food. I hope they stay open for a long time to come.

Stop in for just a beer and you’ll be fine. The beer is cold — just like the food. We’ve been here twice and sent food back for being cold on both visits. The first visit the restaurant was new, so we gave them another chance and returned recently. It was definitely our last visit. The pretzel appetizer with the beer cheese was lukewarm. The pretzel was this mushy, microwaved soft piece of bread. The curry sausage tasted like all the other sausage and nothing of curry. The worst part is sending back cold bits and pieces of both our meals. The server handled it as awkwardly as she could. Having us put items we’d cut into on a plate to take back. It would have made sense to just take both plates back, because the whole thing was a miss. It’s so disappointing, because the restaurant looks great. But I’d rather eat at the pricey German buffet at Epcot over this place any day.

3 Stars because things have slipped a bit but I have hope that they’ll pick back up! I really enjoyed my previous visits to Schumann’s but this time was not great in a couple of ways. We went during lunch and ordered the potato pancakes to start with and the Jäger Schnitzel(pork with a change of sides to red cabbage and potato salad) as the main. The potato pancakes came and were missing the applesauce and sour cream that are supposed to accompany them. We asked for the waiter to bring those but he didn’t return for a while so we started on them. Oh, boy. They were not good at all. I think they were undercooked and were just really unpleasant. When the waiter returned, to let my friend know that they were out of the drink he ordered, we let him know the pancakes were near raw and asked him to take it back(we didn’t want a replacement, since we imagined our main course would be coming soon). I rarely, if ever, send things back but these were borderline inedible. As a side-note, two of the drinks my friend ordered were unavailable as they were kept in a locked cabinet only the manager could open. The manager wasn’t around unfortunately so the waiter couldn’t get to either bottle. I’ve never had that happen before, but in the end he found something for my buddy to drink. Sadly, the main course I was so looking forward to was also disappointing. The Jäger Schnitzel was cold in the center and seemed like it may have been left to cool or had been frozen. And the sides that came were not the ones we had ordered(it had the mashed potatoes and green beans instead). Our server was very apologetic when we mentioned the sides and brought us the ones we’d ordered a few minutes later. On the plus side, I liked the warm potato salad(the German way!), even though it randomly had a couple of strings of Spaetzel that may have fallen into it somehow. The red cabbage was kind of a dud though… It is usually one of my favorite sides but it wasn’t like it had been on my previous visits– it was very, very sweet and lacked any of the vinegary tartness that would have made it such a great pairing with the heavy schnitzel. When we got our checks the server was again apologetic and even took 20% off of our checks because he knew it hadn’t gone well. I appreciated the fact that he acknowledged it even though we weren’t going to mention it. I’m sticking to 3 stars because the server was really sweet and apologetic and because I have had some good meals there. Lunch competition is tough in Downtown Orlando but I will definitely return and hope I get the same experience I had the first few times versus this last time!

I visited Orlando for a business trip and 2 out of 4 days, I dined at Schumann’s Jäger Haus because who doesn’t love some German beer and bratwurst? Summer in Orlando is hot and holy moly humid, however, when you walk into this bar, the air conditioning is so strong, I had to put my cardigan on. I guess patrons depended on the beer to warm up! I ordered a huge pork knuckle(see picture) over sauerkraut and red cabbage. The server warned me of the portion, but I decided to accept the challenge! When it arrived at the table, it honestly looked like he had trouble holding the plate without shaking — It was that heavy! I hate wasting food, but I could only eat around a quarter of what came to be the largest meat dish I’ve ever had. If you’re brave enough to order this, be prepared to share with at least four others! The sausages are also pretty good here — They allow you to mix and match with whatever sides you like. The reason they’re not receiving 4-stars is because the second time we came here, our waitress had no clue what she was doing. Wait time was long and the food took forever — When the food did arrive, she got our sides wrong. When it was time to get the bill, she swiped our cards for the wrong bill and we waited for a good 30 minutes to get that all sorted out. Overall, the food and ambience is great! I would come back here if I visit this city again!

Schumann’s has quite the ideal location in the heart of downtown Orlando and is easy to get to for the most part. Schumann’s is the brainchild of the Mulvaney brothers who have been residents of Orlando since the early 1980’s, and have owned and operated more than a dozen Irish Pubs in Florida throughout the years. This new venture takes a trip to Germany as a way to honor their step-father Ernie Schumann. Chef Ralph Oliver is the executive chef at Jäger Haus and he has years of culinary arts study and has been an Executive Chef with some of the most prestigious restaurants in Central Florida. Chef Ralph came to Schumann’s with hopes of contributing some great culinary treats to the ‘new’ Church Street and downtown revitalization. The menu has all of the stuff you would expect at a German restaurant. Bratwurst, Knockwurst, Schnitzel, Potato Pancakes and various entrée selections. The inside of Schumann’s is very well done and decorated with the feel of an old world German beer hall and lodge. Jäger Haus translated is Hunter’s House, and the interior here definitely gives off the vibe of a place one would enjoy fine German beers and freshly cooked meats after a day of hunting. Köstritzer Schwarzbier is a dark beer that maintains a dark, rich color with a roasted aroma that contributes to its malty taste and a creamy finish. The Schumann’s Sampler consists of Bavarian Brezen(Soft Pretzel), Frikadellen(German Style Meatballs), Kartoffelpuffer(Potato Pancakes) and comes with a variety of condiments and toppings. This a good way to get your taste buds ready for the flavors of Germany. Jäger Schnitzel is a Breaded Pork or Chicken Cutlet with Mushroom demi glaze and a choice of two sides. You may also request, as I did to have it with veal. I chose mashed potatoes and green beans for my sides. My schnitzel was very tender and flavorful, and the mushroom demi glaze was excellent as well. Bratwurst at Schumann’s is made with coarsely chopped pork and beef with blended natural spices. My dining companion chose Spatzle and red cabbage as a side. The Traditional Reuben features corned beef, sauerkraut, gruyère, Haus-made dressing and is grilled on rye bread. This sandwich was pretty good, and Schumann’s has a few more listed on the menu in case you or someone in your dining party wants something a little less German.

This place is awful. Décor is good… that’s it. Being German, the food is awful. I will never be back. Enough said.

This place is so awesome! The décor and ambiance is done so well it makes you feel like you’re in a rustic pub in Germany. But aside from the impressive list of beer, the food is absolutely fabulous! This is my first time here so I ordered the bratwurst with red cabbage and green beans. Everything was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Yummy yummy, I’m so happy to have learned about this cool place and can’t wait to come back!

Sadly, I was super disappointed with our experience here. My mother in law being German, I know a lot of the culture and food. The place gets two stars for the décor. That was the only awesome thing. About my dish: I ordered the salmon appetizer as my main dish. It came with a side of potato pancakes, relish and a piece of salmon. The potato pancakes were delicious! The relish tasted funny so I didn’t use it. The salmon was SUPERDUPER salty. I love salmon. Love love it. I took the second bite and couldn’t anymore. I asked the waitress if the salmon was supposed to be this salty because I couldn’t eat it. She said«yes, it’s the German way. Sorry about that». Didn’t offer me to switch it for something else or for a new one to be cooked. It was her second day, so I cut her slack, but what kind of service is that? Unfortunately, I will not be back.

I really like this place. Servers are always friendly and the food is awesome. I’ve been here to eat three times and once just for drinks. I love the grapefruit beer. So refreshing and not too sweet. I love the Ernie’s Favorite sandwich. It’s just so good I can’t bring myself to order anything else. Love it with the German potato salad. My bf is a big fan of their Reuben. I brought my parents, who are German food nuts, here and they were in heaven. They got the Feast for Two platter and were very happy with it. Comes with a huge amount of food and they had a lot of fun sampling all the different dishes. Pretzel with fondue is seriously the best pretzel I’ve ever had, and the potato noodles are also amazing. I will definitely be back to try more menu items. I’ve never heard anyone say anything negative about their food. Service was very slow once when I came but I think that’s because they were unexpectedly hit with a large party of 15+ people. Food was still delicious even though they were clearly understaffed that day. The only reason I don’t come here more often is because it would not be kind to my waistline!

I’ll keep this review short and simple. The beer was the best part of my experience. Both my dish and my wife’s dish were way overly salty. Service was okay. Took a while for someone to take our order. Never got a refill on our drink. Overall, I wouldn’t come back here to eat. I would only come in for a beer.

This German style pub is nestled away on Church Street in downtown Orlando. When you walk in you feel transported away to another time and place. You feel submerged in German atmosphere and sort of forget that’s it’s still downtown Orlando. Came here and tried the excellent pretzel burger and paprika fries. Yum! The fries looked sort of orange/red colored and it’s like they were bathed in paprika. I liked it. It was kind of overwhelming with spice, but really good if that makes any sense. Would love to come back here and have some German beer and relax all afternoon.

I’ve only been here a couple of times, but some friends are regulars here and have only said good things about it. The food I’ve tried has been really good, and it’s nice to see they have a full bar, and some good beer selections as well. I should also mention their drink specials are pretty good as well. Considering the location I would have expected an annoyingly busy place but this wasn’t the case. They have a steady clientele but everybody seems nice and friendly, unlike too many people you can run into on Church st.

I am a big fan of German food so I was very excited to try this place out. I have been there about three times now and have enjoyed the food a lot actually. The portions are quite large so you definitely get what you pay for(and then some!) The signature salad they serve is HUGE and very filling and only $ 7. It is also quite tasty and has beets in it… which I LOVE. My only problem with this location is the SLOOOWWWW service. I have gone in there before and there is NOONE and yet the servers never come around to ask if we need anything and it takes forever to get your order in. Once the order does get in though the food doesn’t take as long to come out. But then while you eat … no one checking in on you and I never got my water refilled. Beer selection is good and German beers are ALWAYS the way to go :)

Not being a huge Church Street fan, I hadn’t jumped at the chance to try out one of their newest restaurants right away, but on a lazy Friday night I wanted something new so we figured, why not. German it is! When we walked in it felt like an extension of Germany in Epcot. Long communal benches gave it that beer hall feel, accompanied by murals on the wall, and flags hanging from the ceiling. The beer list is plentiful, but if you are a fan of IPA’s you may have a hard time finding something along those lines. I got a Schofferhofer grapefruit beer which was sweet and refreshing. It’s a must try! We started with what else, a pretzel! I was surprised that an order only came with one, but it was possibly the best pretzel of my life so I forgave them quickly. It came with a dipping sauce of both cheese and mustard. I could live off these pretzels and my grapefruit beer. For the main course I ordered the Drunken Hen(chicken, mash, and asparagus) and my companion ordered the Wiener schnitzel. Overall I was pleased with my chicken, which was flavorful and succulent. My only complaint was it was incredibly salty. The chef needs to tone down the sodium. The music choice was pretty odd, not that they have to play authentic German music, but when the ballad«Listen to your heart» came on followed by a Beach Boy song I couldn’t help but think they should probably choose a vibe and stick with it. Why pay money to create a great Authentic German vibe and then have sporadic music blasting. Overall I was happy with my first experience and if nothing else I will go back for beer, pretzels and watching the girls parade down the cobble road of Church Street in high heels falling every few steps.
