Getting here can be tricky, Tryst’s door is off of Church St., between Antigua and Big Belly. Through an alley and around the corner up a flight a stairs sits Tryst. Its a typical stuffy martini bar. Its dark, all wood, and doesn’t have a lot of space to move around. There are some couches and stuffed chairs in the back as well as high tables and stools in front of the bar. Its a tiny place and makes me think more of a scotch drinking crowd than martini, though they do have a good selection of the trendy drink. You’ll find a creative 7 deadly sins theme on their menu, with a martini for each sin. Gluttony is delicious and my personal favorite. Smooth and sweet with chocolate sauce decorating the glass. I like martini’s, a lot actually, but not this bar. Its just too dark and cramped. Not a whole lot of room for any conversations to be started and not really an atmosphere for meeting other martini lovers. It would be good for a private couple on a date or someone solo just wanting to grab a drink without all the frills. The prices just aren’t worth it in my opinion. I’m more drawn to the energetic feel of Hue or 23.
