Good food! The burger was VERY good, grouper and salads were also ready good. Food has majorly improved… Delicious combos — the chipotle mayo and purple mashers were nice additions and very tasty!

I expect to pay more at hotels, I also expect service to be a little slower. We went for breakfast and opted to not go buffet and order off the menu. It was slow, the order was incorrect. The server was told and he started to blame the kitchen. If you can, take some extra time and go to a local restaurant outside of the hotel. Not much good to say about this experience. I got my own salt, pepper, ketchup, sugar for my coffee, the bacon was ordered crisp came limp and then remade burnt, part of the order not delivered, eggs asked for basted came soft boiled, then asked to just bring scrambled but received basted. The manager offered to invite us back on her the next day, we declined. I would not return even for free.

I’m giving the Tropicale 3 stars to average out 3 different visits in the last week, including a 3 star lunch, a 2 star dinner, and a 4 star dinner rating. To start with the lunch, I had an excellent recommendation of the short rib sliders with plantain chips. Both were excellent, but service was mediocre and slow. The second visit was a 2 star rating for dinner, where I had the burger. Burger was okay, but the worst part was the service. Our waiter came by to take our order and provide our meals, but flagging him down for anything else proved to be impossible. We eventually got our check 15 – 20 minutes past when we hoped, drinks never refilled, and not one checkup to see if we needed anything else. Honestly, I was hesitant to go back a 3rd time in less than a week, but due to not wanting to travel outside of the resort, I was back again for dinner. This time, I had the paella, which was great, but not the best I’ve had. Presentation was nice, and flavors decent. Our waiter forgot some sweet potato fries, but when we inquired, he was completely honest, and let us know that he forgot. He didn’t try to make an excuse, but instead apologized and owned up to it. He provided the table dessert on the house, which was more than what was required for the situation, and he even asked if we wanted to speak to the manager. My lava cake was fantastic, and he was the best waiter we’ve had here. Overall, in each example, the ratio of servers to tables is poor. In each case, if there were more servers, then they wouldn’t be quite so overloaded. I believe the food itself is of good quality, although overpriced in general. The price is more of a reflection of the location, rather than the quality of dining. I would recommend that if you are staying here and looking for a place to eat, you can give it a try if you like. However, just be aware that service may be slow, you may be paying more than if you went elsewhere, and that the waitstaff is overworked in this restaurant.

The hotel guest with no other option choice of last resort. Plenty of acceptable options within 2 miles driving distance. Pricey but barely average and totally expected in a resort of this nature, like the Caribe Royale in which it is located, which is obviously aimed at the convention crowd on an expense account who need a handy place to congregate.

Terrible options an food combinations. My friend and I ordered a salad with salmon to start. Never have I had such an old piece of salmon on my plate. I guess since I did not even have the option for the salmon to be cooked medium rare I should have seen this coming. The fish almost tasted like a metallic cardboard. Thank goodness the vegetables were somewhat fresh since my friend and I did not get sick the next day. As for our entrees, we ordered their grouper with purple mash and hollandaise sauce. It seems like a restaurant trick to make us full and satisfied, but it did the complete opposite for me. The mash was so unnecessary as it did not add any substance to the fish. Luckily, unlike the salmon, the grouper was quite tasty by itself. The hollandaise sauce was an interesting choice of sauce. I would honestly skip the dessert here at The Tropicale. My friend and I shared the lava cake expecting to finally get satisfied after our dessert. Boy, did we think wrong. There was no lava chocolate cake as no filling oozed out. The vanilla ice cream was also cheap ice cream that taste like sugar ice water… Never again. I might as well fast when I’m in Orlando.

PROS: The service was excellent. CONS: Sorry everyone, you are stuck in this hotel; while the service is exceptional, the food is overpriced and at best mediocre. I will say that I only visited the Tropicale restaurant(for breakfast, lunch and dinner). The only other choices are bar food or the«really expensive» restaurant called The Venetian. I cannot say if they have the same chef as the Calypso. Examples: Breakfast: I had Eggs Benedict: The hashbrowns that came as a side were crispy on the outside but greasy on the inside and were tasteless. The eggs benedict were over«medium» not easy. The yolk should be runny to coat the English muffin so when I cut into it(it kind of disappointing). Also the Hollandaise sauce was definitely off. Any decent chef should know basic sauces. Overall, the order was not worth the price. It was a very mediocre experience. Dinner: I ordered the lobster ravioli which was, again, very disappointing. I’m not even sure the lobster in the pasta was legit. The hotel did put real pieces of lobster on the salad(maybe I should suggest just a small lobster tail with a salad since the«real» lobster pieces were quite tasty). I just feel the cost should live up to the reputation.

Worse Breakfast Ever!!! Had the breakfast buffet for two days in a row. Eggs tasted like crap. No other meat options other than pork. French Toast lacks flavor. The tea and biscuits were the only thing I enjoyed.

We had the breakfast buffet as part of our package, and it was pretty good. I’m not really a breakfast person, but my wife is, and she really enjoyed it. My wife tried to get an omelette, but there was no instruction on how to place your order. The person running the station was non-communicative as well. Not a pleasant experience. Thankfully this was included in our package. I’m not sure such a buffet is worth $ 18.

As others have stated this restaurant is inside the lobby tower building of the Caribe Royale hotel and convention center. I stayed at the hotel for a conference and had dinner with a colleague in the restaurant. Overall the look and feel of the place is fine. There are booths and tables with white table cloths. The wait staff are dressed a bit more formal but the patrons were mostly wearing regular attire – many were conference attendees so you get the idea. They do not have an extensive dinner menu-essentially it is one page and you can find it online. I had the salmon salad(~$ 16) which was fine. In my experience salmon prepared in restaurants almost always taste the same – sort of bland and flavorless and this was the case however the salad greens were fresh and the raspberry/chipotle dressing tasty. That along with a couple of Vodka tonics totaled around $ 37 so definitely consider other options if you are price sensitive. Overall I think the place is fine and convenient if you do not want to or are unable to leave the hotel for a meal.

This is located inside of the Caribe Royale. We stopped here for dinner one night, trying to keep from leaving the resort to find food in the area. The service was very good. Past the service the quality stops there. I ordered a burger cooked medium. There was no pink left at all in the burger. The outside of the burger was somewhat crispy. Definitely overdone. The bun was crispy and crusty on the outside. With a stale taste to it. The fries were fresh and hot, but they are grocery store, Ore Ida Zesty fries. I could recognize them anywhere. I would not eat here again. The food was just not good.

This is a solid choice for a bite to eat in the huge Caribe Royale hotel center. Diners at our table ordered the short ribs with ravioli, grilled salmon and club sandwich. Everyone was happy with their food, but the atmosphere lacks charm. Our server was proficient and attentive, so we had a nice, albeit routine dinner.

Very over priced for the quality of food and service. We understand its a hotel but they couldnt even give us real cheese on our omelette! They stuck a pre-packaged slice of cheese on our omelette. My french toast were just ok. Save your money and drive across the street to McDonald’s

Ugh. this place is terrible. The food was really bad… I didn’t even bother taking a picture. Out of the four of us who are there not one if us had anything good to say about it. Service was subpar, prices were high and the food… well it suck for lack of a better term

Maybe my standards have lowered after eating at Disney for a week but I thought the food was good. A good chicken soup and a decent potpie.

Typical hotel restaraunt. Had the breakfast buffer. Omelet made to order was very good. Fresh waffled also available. Good selection of pastries, fruit and the usual breakfast foods(eggs, Bacon, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, etc). Price was $ 18, pretty typical for resort buffet. Coffee, milk, juice all included with refills. Good to go to if you are hungry. Java house or café a better choice if you want a quick bite. Menu choices not much cheaper than buffet, so its a better choice.
