I’m giving this 4 stars because I just had an awesome cemita de carne enchilada. The flavors were awesome and the cheese so fresh. This cemita was also huge — which means I left full and very happy. So I don’t know about anyone else, but I had a very nice experience here.

Probably one the best Mexican places I’ve tried in New York. Ok, that’s really not saying much. Mexican food in NY is no bueno. This is la verdad. But, in a world with a dearth of such a wonderful cuisine, Los Abuelos is probably one of the best around these parts. Definitely better than Guadalajara. The only entrée I ever order is the cheese enchilada w/salsa verde. That is some good sauce. I like it enough that I haven’t bothered trying anything else. Maybe the rest of the menu sucks, who knows? But I love their cheese enchiladas. The rice and beans are nothing to write home about, but they’re not bad. The guacamole is ok, but a little bland for my taste. The tortilla chips are nice, thin, and seem fresh. Basically, if you’re looking for Mexican food and trying to decide between Guadalajara and Los Abuelos, try the latter.

We have eaten here several times and ordered for delivery several times also. The food is authentic and delicious. We love the chicken soup, fajitas, the calabasitas in green sauce with cactus, and the pechuga de pollo rellena. Muy deliciosa!

The young lady who took care of us today was sweet and nice. The place cute and clean. The food was not great. The milanesa’s taste was weird. I am not going back. Sorry.

I’m not sure what some of the other comments are talking about, Los Abuelos is an amazing and authentic restaurant. If you want real Mexican food, that’s also cheap, this is the place to go. Los Abuelos is my go to restaurant, and one of my favorites in Northern Westchester. Not to mention it is significantly better than virtually all other Mexican restaurants within a 10 mile radius. The enchiladas are absolutely amazing, and so are the cemitas. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but I would recommend any dish that has pork in it.

Came here with friends. Probably the WORST Mexican food I’ve ever had. Tasted like an Easy Baked Oven dish.

I thought Ossining would have good Mexican food. The restaurant before this had a better ambiance and better food. The quesadillas, tacos, and tostadas all seemed like something you can find frozen. The quality of the meats and cheeses were very poor. Honestly, you can probably make better Mexican food yourself. No Bueno. Not going to lie. We paid the bill and went to another Mexican restaurant.

ohh emm gee! the best chimichanga I’ve ever had! authentic Mexican food. yum! only thing was that I went to the bathroom and there was no soap. I’ve seen employees use the bathroom and made me wonder how they washed their hands. I made sure I had at least a small drop of soap on my hands.

This was recently purchased by new owners and renamed. Our first time here we got the sampler appetizer. It was really good but we could’ve done without the mozzarella sticks or chicken fingers that didn’t seem to be authentic Mexican. Beef huaraches and shrimp tacos were really good… the homemade tortilla was delicious. Good portion size and fair price. Based on this experience I would put this on par with the food at Guadalajara down the road. We even caught a little performance of a couple Mexican guitarist/singers on our way out the sounded great. Hope they get more business since it was quiet!

Love the new location. Great colors inside with great food. Online site voted Ossining 8th best place to live in New York State and mentioned Los Abuelos must place to dine. We have been going here for years. This a great location!

Tried their new location and wasn’t very impressed. The food was bland and the service was slow. Might give them a second try to see if they improved.

We love this place! The food and service are both outstanding… by far the best Mexican around.

This was the first time my son and I ate at Los Abuelos, after attending EagleFest in Croton. The waitress was real helpful in helping to choose a good meal and to make it a fun experience. My son had the steak poblanos and Mexican pineapple soda which he loved and I had the chicken fajitas and a Mango Margherita which was well prepared and taste real good. The atmosphere was fun with a mix of live music. By the time we left, they were playing The Beatles.

Giving this place 4 Stars«not for the food» but for the Service that was very good, with friendly staff. There is plenty of seating inside and as one reviewer stated it looked more like a cafeteria, but we came here because friends come here all the time and we all went out for dinner. One Note: the Ladies Room was very clean and that is a plus for me. Now for the food: the Chips were warm and Salsa was delicious, so was the Guamole made fresh at the table. We also ordered a pitcher of Red Sangria that was delicious. However, my Steak Fajitas de Bistec(green pepper, onions, and mushrooms) was just OK because the quality of meat was cheap and very thin. I thought it was strange that they served the Soft Tocos(4) in Aluminum Foil — what happened to the small Toco dish with the lid holding the Soft Tocos to keep them warm, that would have been more professional looking especially for a Mexican Restaurant. The beans that came with my Fajitas tasted good, but very unappetizing looking. All and all, we enjoyed the night out with our friends, but next time we will be picking the restaurant.

What a GREAT find!!! I joined 3 other friends at this authentic Mexican restaurant in Ossining where South Of The Border used to be. Well, let me tell you what a treat it was. First my Margarita was perfect! I had a frozen one with salt… SOOOO good! The guacamole was very well made(at the table) with just the right amount of heat and the chips were warm and crunchy! If I could have afforded more calories, I would have ordered seconds. My camerones y pollo fajitas were fresh and tasty and served piping hot! The portions are really ample for 2 to share, however, I had NO intention of sharing these goodies. Oh by the way, the guitar music was a perfect accompaniment to the ambiance of this wonderfully«homey» restaurant. Our servers were efficient and polite. There is no question that I will be back with all my friends.

Have been enjoying Los Abuelos for a couple years now. We love the ‘kitchen table’ feel both places have. Always happy with the Cubana sandwich, Chicken Chimichanga, and sopas. If we are going to grab a Mexican restuarant for dinner its this place. Henry will take good care of you. Enjoy!

As a long time resident of Texas, I’m always in search of great Mexican Food. Los Abuelos is the most authentic Mexican food in Westchester. The mole and all the salsas are made with care and are well spiced. The guacamole is fresh and made to order. I love the enchiladas. I have begun to substitute cheeses and vegetables for the meat; the veggies are fresh, not frozen and very tasty. The rice and beans are perfectly done and very flavorful. I find most restaurants skimp on these sides. I’m thankful that Los Abuelos now features margaritas; they are solid. I’ll always keep looking but this is my favorite Mexican joint.

Muy Delicioso!!! Posted on the old one but this location’s here to stay! I’m not sure if Kathleen F. went to the right restaurant… because the place I went to was extremely clean, welcoming, and a much better than SOB. The chips were warm and crisp – and most importantly: not stale. The salsa was particularly good; it’s fresh, spicy, and had a god consistency. I drank a delicious Agua Fresca. In addition, my beef enchiladas were great, I’d definitely recommend them. If you’re looking for quality Mexican food in Westchester, this is it.

Friendly atmosphere brought south from the original location. We love the taco plates, so haven’t veered too far from that part of the menu. Good rice and refried beans alongside, garnished with grilled nopalitos and spring onions. COLD beer. Yummy guacamole. We watch our waistlines, otherwise we’d be there more often. Sons in law from Mexico and Texas both applaud Los Abuelos, too. Nice gent playing traditional guitar tunes on recent Saturday night, with the restaurant welcome all kinds of folks and families. Give them a try.

This restaurant replaced SOB, an excellent Mexican restaurant. Los Abuelos took over the space and renovated it. Unfortunately, it lost all the ambience and character of SOB. This place looks more like a cafeteria. The salad came without any dressing. The«cheese burrito» was undercooked and tasteless. Instead of having rice and beans with the meal, these items were tucked into the burrito. When I finished half of my coffee, I discovered to my complete disgust, that the cup was dirty and caked in old food. As I write this, I feel nauseated. This place needs to be avoided at all costs! No star!
