This was… pretty sad. The buffet had lots of food, lots of different kinds of food, but it was nothing special — typical Chinese-American buffet with everything oversweetened and sticky — and it wasn’t even hot. Why do buffets in this country have such a hard time keeping the food hot? Anything fried was chewy and stale like it had been sitting out a while, and it was not quite 1 pm.(The kitchen staff were refilling the buffet like mad and it was *still* cold and chewy…) Plus, the melon on the fruit bar was unpleasantly mushy and the crabstick salad was inedible. There were some tasty things. The maki rolls were actually pretty decent, the pepper chicken was nice, and the green beans were lovely and crispy. And I couldn’t complain about the price. It was just over $ 7 per person for lunch on a weekday and we were stuffed.(This is totally the kind of place I would have loved when I was a student!) Service was quick and friendly too. We went because we wanted a good sized lunch that was cheap and fast. In fairness, that’s what we got. The place is run by good people but they should up their game a little. Keeping the food hot would go a long way. :P

Global Buffet is a great spot to go to for dinner if you’re in the mood for Asian food(Chinese & Japanese) and have a big appetite. Of course, it goes without being said that the prices are extremely affordable since you’re in upstate New York. Also, students at the nearby SUNY Oswego receive a discount off their meal if they present their ID when paying. Every single time I’ve gone into Global the service has been speedy and the staff is extremely friendly. As soon as you sit down someone is there to take your drink order and the selection of food is incredible. My favorite is when they have fresh seafood, such as crab legs, on the menu for the night. If you come to Oswego either to take in the beautiful sunset in Lake Ontario or as a pit stop on your way to somewhere else then take some time out to enjoy a good meal at Global Buffet.

My review is based on the japanese dish only which were the maki rolls. Even though its not advertised, the maki rolls are available and done extremely and very very affordable, so based on that alone, It’s a great alternate spot to try chinese food at. And what’s better is the service, very active and nice… so what more can you ask for!
