Hands down the best mexican food in the area. The bistec a la mexicana is fantastic.

I have been going to the LaCabana in Aurora for a number of years and have always had decent food but great service. Today we went to the Oswego version and got neither. The gentleman that took our order acted like we messed up his day by coming into the restaurant. Oh by the way we were the only ones in there. The food was boring and flat. I would normally give it one star but the guacamole kicked ass.

Salsa is fantastic! Beans are soupy. I had the la bistec ala mexicana. It had several large chunks of stew meat, very dry. It was covered in what tasted like tomato sauce, very bland. The la bistec ala mexicana at Tortilla Flatz is outstanding, but they were closed today :(

This place is awful and the owner and wife combo that run it are the most horrible people I’ve ever met. After reading the other reviews it’s apparent I’m not the only one who has this opinion of them, I assume they treat their staff horrible as well since every time I’ve been their they have new staff. The food can either be good or really really bad, if it’s bad and you say anything about it they tell you to leave and call the police on you. I suggest if you want to enjoy a meal without the drama of those two idiots go next door to the Sushi place where the food is always good and the staff are extremely pleasant and professional.

This place has very friendly staff but unfortunately we did not like the food. It was very bland. Wish this place was better because there are not many options for Mexican food in Oswego.

Margaritas were excellent! Food is very good at a reasonable price. Definitely one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in the Oswego area.

My wife and I have been here several times. The food is pretty good. The prices are fair. I do find that you wait a bit for your food. It’s a family owned business. The location has had a bunch of different places that have opened up and closed so it’s great that they made. If you go try the steak fajitas they are my favorite there.

I love the mole chicken enchiladas! I typically get carry out. The owner/call taker is not really personable. The wait staff is just fine. I came in today and the restaurant only has half the lights on and smells like dirty dishwater! Such great food… but stick to carry out!

Had a pastor taco plate and I think I probably could have made better at home. I eat a lot of Mexican food and this is the worst in Kendall County.

Have been going to the Oswego La cabana for years. It has varied from good to not great. Tonight was awful! Started out surprisingly, they were busy for a week night. Only one waitress and according to her they were short staffed in the kitchen.(I had some second thoughts about that, as the owner always seems to be cutting costs ie: no heat in the winter and lights turned off in the upper area when the place was not full, aside from the fact that it seems you get dirty looks for ordering seconds on the chips an salsa). But I digress, the food was slow and the flour taco was ice cold, the chips were stale and cold as well. Asked the waitress to split the check, she was too busy and said she would do it at the end. she brought the check at the end, it was not divided, when questioned about that, she rattled off the price of the items my friend ordered and said ‘plus tax’. We did not eat much of the chips and salsa, so I asked if she could box it up, she said those items are free and we could not take them home. Started to ask her why, and did they simply throw them out, but she had already walked away. She came back later and said what did you want? My friend said she probably said something to the owner and maybe he decided to make an exception, I have no idea. I simply asked for the check.

They aren’t quite what they were in the past after they redid their menu and seemingly changed some recipes. However, the one that really makes La Cabana worth the trip is the homemade chips and the best salsa. Even when I don’t go for a meal, I occasionally will go just to buy chips and a big jar of salsa to go(which is also great for parties).

Food is good but their service is horrible. The lady who waited on us was rude and seemed to be bothered that we requested a special plate. She suggested we go to another restaurant if we wanted a plate adjusted to our liking.

Tried it. Nice kid got us a table right away. Service was good. Margaritas could use more tequila but we always think that! The guacamole was a little bland but hey ad some really hot sauces to add. The Barbacoa tacos had good flavor and fresh cheese! The echiladas with chicken were good. We’ve been back. Never a wait and good solid everyday Mexican.

I have been going here since 2006 and I still love this place. There salsa is amazing! I also love their burritos and tacos. It is a great Oswego family business and love to go there with friends to grab a bite to eat.

Hands down the best salsa I have ever had however the food is hit or miss(However my husband loves this place). The food is typically bland and I have a hard time eating overly greasy food which my take out usually turns out to be. However we will continue to go back for the chips and my husbands beloved fried burrito he always gets.

My favorite home town Mexican spot. The inexplicable French dressing on the nachos I’ve never seen anywhere else. But it’s so perfect!

I sincerely believe La Cabana in Oswego is one of our best kept secrets. The salsa is fantastic, we have friends that come out here from Naperville just to order a jug of their salsa. I usually get the enchilada suiza or the Bistec Ala Mexicana-a beef stew like dish that is mouth wateringly delicious; it is especially fantastic in the fall when you want a richer dish that is slow cooked to perfection. Try their tamarand margharit if they are in. Yum! Our kids are crazy for their chicken quesadillas and only want them from La Cabana because of the terrific chicken. Great family/friend hang out owned by a wonderful family. Casual, colorful space, fun to just hang out and have a beer or margarita. And of course the nachos are the bomb. Someone suggested the chicken as the best, we’ll have to try that. By: Polish Maria

Always great food at La Cabana. Love the guacamole, chips & salsa are yummy. Great margaritas. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s great service and food comes out super fast; other times it’s slow service and the food takes forever. Usually have to ask for drink refills though. I like that they have a kid’s menu.

Best shredded chicken ever. Seasoned perfect. I had the old standard, the chicken chimi. Best one I’ve ever had. Best quac in a while, and the salsa was delish. Chips were just ok. The service was adequate but like another reviewer, I noticed that the owner didn’t say much. Smart in this economy? Nope. Our server was ok, he had a few tables and didn’t refill our drinks unless asked… which is annoying but I’ve had way worse. He was nice when he visited. Lol We’ll go back for the food. Yum.
