One of two restaurants in the town of Otis. The other one is Pronto pup specializing in corndogs and they have other food too. This review is for Otis café, it is a very small restaurant. It has maybe eight or nine tables and seating at the counter. We ordered clam chowder which was good, but the clams weren’t cleaned properly and the soup had a lot of sand in it. We also had an omelette ham and cheese heavy on the cheese! The homemade hashbrowns were good. The black molasses bread was amazing! We also had a buffalo burger which was good kind of small. It had a wonderful homemade bun. We had some bacon with their homemade salsa and mustard it was great. We will definitely stop there again.

I’ve been stopping here off and on since 1983. Huge breakfast with homemade molasses or sourdough bread, German hash browns, just the best! The new generation has righteously kept up the tradition

1/18/16-The Otis Café is an absolute MUST! Otis Oregon, a tiny town between Portland & Lincoln City, Oregon is easy to find as is this café– just look for all the cars. As we learned not everyone pulling up were staying for a meal, many were stopping to purchase loaves of homemade bread, or pies. Locals and tourists all waited happily for a spot to sit and we didn’t have long to wait. It’s a small café big on home made goodness. They even make their own mustard & seasoning salt! My husband had the Country Fried Steak breakfast and I had a Pork Chop w/my eggs. We both chose the Whole Wheat Sourdough toast that came thickly sliced and ooh so fresh! The portions were good sized as you can see in the pictures. We left w/full bellies & a loaf of fresh baked Pumpkin Bread. We had wanted a good breakfast @ the end of a great stay in Lincoln City & had seen good reviews for another restaurant. To late to have breakfast @ the«Wild Flower Grill», a member of the staff highly recommended the«Otis Café». With so many places that serve ordinary food, the type you expect and are ok with, it’s a pleasure to find a place like the Otis Café where everything has that special touch and the staff are pleased to see you. Props to the lady @ the Wild Flower Grill for knowing there is nothing wrong w/sending customers to another great restaurant when they are looking for breakfast in the afternoon!

Unorganized. They are always busy, but take ZERO responsibility for seating. We arrived at the same time as another group. We have a baby. I spoke first to the old woman running the place and she told me they would clear the only open table for us, then sat the other group which were able to sit at the counter in the seat promised is. Then some other person told us to wait twenty minutes. Them while I’m holding my baby, the original woman offered us the counter seats. Ridiculous.

On our way back from a weekend at the coast we stopped into the Otis Café. As others note, it’s a well-known place and there are just 5 tables plus about a half-dozen counter seats, so expect to wait. They don’t take names, but let the staff know you’ve arrived and the number in your party. We had two 2-person parties ahead of us but people move through quickly — we waited maybe 20 minutes before a table was ready. The interior has some interesting vintage items and the feel of an old-fashioned roadside café. Having read about their famed German potatoes(hash browns topped with green onions and white cheddar cheese) I selected a half-order(#6) and my wife went with the Otis omelette(#12), «upgrading» the plain hash browns to German Potatoes and selecting a biscuit for her bread item. I really enjoyed the potatoes — feeling hungry and not sure of the quantity, I added 1 fried egg to my order, but quantity-wise even a half-order is really enough for two servings. My wife’s omelette was«fine» and the biscuit nice and fluffy and fried perfectly — she ended up ordering a second one to go. Service was friendly and relatively quick. An good experience — we’ll stop again.

I have been here probably 5 times now. And I have realized they are hit and miss. Most of what I have gotten here has been great, but a couple plates have not been. Or it may have been the cook that day. But I would recommend this place either way, excellent stop on the way to and from Lincoln City!

Delicioso. Loved it. Wait in line to get in. Not too bad. 3 groups ahead of us. Line took ten minutes at most. Loved the ambiance. Great food. Great service. My 16 month old enjoyed the experience and the waitstaff was super friendly towards her. Bombin’ fresh bread. Delicious scratch made sausage patty. German potatoes were delicious. Great people, great food, great prices. I will definitely come again.

Iconic diner with fresh bread to go. Pie and molasses bread and good solid American breakfast. The servers are overwhelmed however. We waited 30 minutes for seats at the counter and a good ten more to get coffee. That’s a long time for a diner style pour of Java. The veggie sausage wasn’t edible and the home fries were meh. The cozy place is still worth a visit and the loyal patrons seem as happy as ever.

Otis Café was a great find! We stopped on the way from Lincoln City to Portland. It is a small place but the food portions are HUGE. We came for breakfast and could not even finish our meals. The german potatoes were delicious and the bread was great — we even had to buy some to go. The cinnamon rolls looked delicious as well but we were too stuffed to try one. I really enjoy small places like this — seemed like a very popular local spot.

Are you on 101 near Lincoln City? Then take the 2 min detour and head East on the road to Salem and eat here! Or just stop in and get the best cinnamon rolls ever! The breakfasts are the bomb, tasty perfectly cooked and huge potions. the people are nice and it just feels like there is a lot of love going into the food and service here. Buy a loaf of bread before you go as well they make amazing bread! We went once then came back for desert the next day and the next day got Cinnamon rolls to go. The funny thing most of the people I talked to had stopped by once and had to come back the next day for more just like us.

If my lifeless body is found somewhere, the meal I just ate should be brought to the station for questioning. I’m not suggesting the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy would be solely to blame. I suspect it would have been heavily influenced by the eggs, hash browns and butter soaked bread it was hanging out with. Sure, I may have placed myself in harms way by choosing to associate with such meals. However, a guy has got to experience life to live it. If you also enjoy running with a similar meals, this place is «worth the weight.»

If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault. What a fun experience. Our friends took us here while we were visiting the coast. It’s a neat little place off the beaten path. We drove by it on the way out and didn’t even give a second look. We should have! The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Service was excellent.

You must stop here on the way back from the coast! Make sure you put in its address cause you may easily miss it. It’s such a hole in the wall. The café felt very homey, it was very small and cozy. They only had five tables and a counter area. We ordered the chicken fried steak and halibut burger. The prices were very reasonable. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food either. The chicken fried steak was HUGE and delicious! Everything was so good! They make their own bread as well and it was perfect. We got the marionberry pie with a big scoop of tillamook ice cream on stop. Oh man… it was so good!!! They make their own pie as well. This place probably have one of my favorite chicken fried steak and pie! I highly recommend it!

Overdue Unilocal post for a incredibly hearty and delicious meal at Otis Café on 4÷23÷15. After a brief stay at Depoe Bay, OR the family and I decided to check out Otis Café on our way back north. Again, previous Unilocalers didn’t let us down and wow what a find! First of all, it’s a tiny, homey café but tables or counter seats turn over fairly fast. I’m sure it’s totally another story on holidays and weekends. They serve three squares, but we opted for a late breakfast/brunch. Our wait person was very hospitable and efficient covering most of the various tables. The menu has numerous choices and also there’s homemade baked goods we tasted and saw during our visit: the loaves of bread(toast), biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and pies. Plus they sell their own Otis Café salt blend. Now to the goods(kudos to their bakers and line crew!): Kiddo had the Ham and White Cheddar Omelette with hash browns and biscuit. I had the half order of the Biscuit smothered in Sausage Gravy, plus a side of crispy bacon. The kiddo and I ended up having a blended breakfast. I did notice that other tables were doing the same without the extra plate charge that other restaurants add. That’s a nice touch! The husband just had to outdo us both and ordered the monstrous sized Chicken Fried Steak, with hash browns, eggs over easy, and toast. That CFS covered most of the plate! We even bought a loaf of molasses bread to take home. Seriously, this was one of the best breakfasts ever! It sustained us during our long drive north and even slogging through Seattle’s evening commute. Thanks again, Unilocalers!

Small, popular place in the middle of nowhere(well, almost). Ordered the snapper burger. The patty was a big, hunk of fish, lightly breaded. The bun was super tasty. I had ordered a side of hash browns. And there was a lot of it! But the marion berry pie is their thing. Order it with warm ice-cream, you’ll not regret it.

Good comfort breakfast food! Seating I’ve very limited so make sure you get there early or you might have to wait a while or just go someplace else! I’m giving it 4 instead of 5 because my chicken friend steak was too chewy for my liking. Everything else was great! The hash browns were omg sooo good! Garlic salt or whatever they mix in totally hit the spot! Overall good food decent prices and good people :)

When your husband’s name is Otis, you eat at the Otis Café at ALLCOSTS. And you know it was the right decision because: – a sweet couple vacates a booth for the bar so your party of four can sit and order – you have an incredible(maybe boring) breakfast of crispy hashbrowns, over medium eggs, and thick cut bacon. – the coffee is hot and regularly refilled – they sell tchotchkes that make sense in your home You might say things went well. Real well.

I have been wanting to eat here for a while, so I was thrilled when it worked out. No wait — we went in the middle of the afternoon, so that was nice. I love tiny restaurants like this, that serve breakfast all day(my fav meal). And when I say tiny, this place only seats about 30 people, if that. Adds to the charm… I got a spinach and cheese omelette, with hash browns and a biscuit, and BF got a burger. We also decided to try to the molasses toast, and I’m so glad we did! It was sooooooo good. Two big pieces toasted to perfection, slathered in butter. Very unique taste. I would definitely recommend you try it, if you go. Worth it. BF wasn’t crazy about it, but that just left me more to eat. My omelette was really good, as were the hash browns and biscuit. BF wasn’t crazy about his burger, but I was happy. Service was great, and prices were really reasonable. Seriously, can’t wait to go back!
