You know what? I fucking love this place so much. I love all of their food and their drunken brunch drinks. The staff has ALWAYS been helpful and attentive at this location AND the one at 135th street. My girlfriends and I always go here when we can! P. S. Their eggs benedict and biscuits are to die for!

I took my wife and my kid here today for the very first time and was telling them how good Mimi’s Café because I enjoyed the one I went to in Yorba Linda California. The person who was serving us needed work with his customer service skills. To start off I ordered two cups of coffee and both were warm not hot. I had to flag another waitress to get refills with drinks. The order came which took long for not being crowded and they got my wife’s order wrong and they had to fix it. I ordered the roast beef dip and my wife ordered the chicken salad sandwich and they both had a wild gamy taste. Very disappointed will not come back to this place again. On our way out I looked at their chalk board sign on the entrance and and they still had«Taking orders now for the Holidays» maybe they are also observing Chinese new years. I wish we should have went to Cheddar’s next door instead and probably would have been cheaper

Great service! We have a baby in the Nicu nearby and needed a quick meal. They stepped up and got us in and out in 30 minutes. We’d all but given up on Mimi’s not liking the one on 135th St. but the food was fantastic too. :0)

There are quite a few reviews complaining about slow service, but when I went around 7PM, and there were no issues getting a table. My water glass never went empty, and our waitress was very prompt and checked up on us multiple times. The food was brought out fairly quickly after a 10 minute wait after ordering with everyone’s food. I had their pot roast, and it was great; succulent and tender. I’m not exactly a fan of the gravy that they put on the meat and the mashed potatoes, since it didn’t blend too well with the mashed potatoes, and wasn’t too noticeable on the meat. The broccoli wasn’t overcooked, which is definitely a positive. Additionally, if you like bread, there’s unlimited bread to go with your meal. It does seem like a popular spots for families with young children, so if you dislike noise, there could be some potential issues there.

Last time I visited I had the chicken crepes and they were wonderful! I’ve never had a bad meal here, or even a mediocre one. Everything has been good. The pot roast on Sunday’s is just like homemade. The service is great. Good coffee. Wonderful breads and muffins. Oh – and they have an option where you can order a meal for four or six people, pick it up, take it home and have a relaxing evening without cooking or cleaning. I wish Mimi’s would open a Georgia location!

Yesterday my family and I went to Mimi’s café and we really had a good time. The food was good, the service was great! My grading of service is dependent on two things; does the waiter ask me how the food is after I take a bite or not, and does my glass ever get below half full. Those two things passed. We got the special 3-course deal, and the food was good, it was prompt, and we received great muffins too.

headed over here with a friend and our 2-year-old kids. they were getting antsy at story time so we figured 10:45 wasn’t too early for brunch. Mimi’s seemed liked the best option in the Oak Park area. we were seated at a nice big semi-circle booth so we could keep our little ones trapped in-between us. Our server came over to take our drink order right away and brought them rather quickly, but then there was a good 10-minute gap before she returned. we were all chatting so we weren’t quite ready. she asked if we wanted to get the order for our kids in and she would be right back. she returned 10 minutes later with THEIR food. of course we were by then and they were actually finished before we got our food(and they are pretty slow eaters) the manager even came over to ask how everything was and I told him that we had been waiting a very long time for our food(at least 20 minutes — for EGGS!) he didn’t apologize, just said he would check on it. our server returned and said our food would be out shortly. we think she forgot to put our order in all together. at least she brought some bread out… well, I actually asked for a slice of bread for my son and she told me they have a bread basket that is complimentary upon request. really? we had two squirmy kids and because we didn’t ask for it, you didn’t think to offer? my little one devoured the bread while I ate my eggs florentine, which was actually much better than I was expecting it to be. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I hadn’t been racing to finish it so I could keep up with my son’s bread intake. I think our server could have been better, but she wasn’t horrible. I would have appreciated an apology or even a drink comp for our unnecessary long wait. the management is actually the reason I won’t be returning. it took me two years after I moved to try this place and I don’t think I need to again.

The staff were nice enough but service was slow. Food was average quality and price. Although the tomato basil soup was grand!!!

I love Mimi’s breakfast. I only go there for breakfast. The coffee’s good and love the food. French toast with orange marmalade and cream cheese in the middle, bacon, scrambled eggs. Everything I’ve gotten has been good, even the high protein, low carb, low calorie breakfasts are good. My bf orders a variety of foods and never complains.

Mimi’s is a comfort food chain with some down home options. The food is okay for mass consumption. I like how they bring the bread out to the tables before the main course arrives. I was disappointed in the service. Our server took about ten minutes to bring three waters and take our order. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon so I know there wasn’t a lot of staff, but I think it’s still a long time. It also took a while to get our food. Our dining experience was probably close to 90 minutes after everything was all said and done. I might come back and try again, but there are a lot of dining options in this area of town.

My last visit here got off to a rough start. We were seated on the north side by the bar… which I felt like we were being separated from the other diners. After more thought, that was probably a better choice, because we had the section to ourselves. Our waiter must have been in training… and I think we were extracted from the herd, to be his first solo table. Questions that we had needed to be referred to some unseen presence behind the mirror wall of the bar. But he did find the answers, and the order was taken. He seemed to have a shocked look on his face, when we declined his suggestions of whatever wine they were pushing that day. I know I don’t fit the typical JoCo diner mold, but does everyone order wine? I think not. Things improved slightly as the food arrived, salad was plentiful and the honey mustard dressing was delicious, must have been something they mixed themselves. Crisp and cold greens made a nice experience. The bread samplings they brought out were a bit confusing. There was three small pieces for two people. Not big enough to share and not any of the same thing. So then you have to have the who gets what discussion. We never saw the waiter again until the entrees hit the table, so by then I had forgotten that I wanted to ask for more. My order was the smaller portion plate offerings that come with the salad and a small dessert. Salisbury steak was the choice. Portions were more than ample of tender beef with sauteed onions and mushrooms in a light beef cream sauce. Broccoli and grilled zucchini accompany, along with mashed potatoes, but served with a darker gravy that was not a match to the sauce on the meat. Pictured dessert was bread pudding, which was only so-so, but what brought it to life was the warm lemon bourbon sauce, that curtained it. Just a small hint of bourbon-style bite, with zesty lemons. Our other dish was the poster child for the need to reduce the serving size and reduce the price. the chicken fried steak platter came with two huge patties of meat, that contained quite a bit of gristle… and you know that is a meal killer! In retrospect, I thought our total bill was a little high for what we got. The food was okay overall, but the experience as a whole was only marginal. I know servers have to be trained, and I don’t think that having an unseasoned server was that big of a deterrent. It was more the taste/cost ratio that made me think it was only worth a 3 star rating.

If you sign up for the Mimi’s Café e-mail list you get a coupon for a buy one get one free breakfast. Sounds good to me. I looked online at the breakfast menu. The variety of breakfast items seemed great. So we went to breakfast. We went relatively early, and I believe Mimi’s to be more known for lunch and dinner than breakfast, but there was like no one there. We tried to take that as «no one knows how good this place is for breakfast» and not«everyone already knows about this place for breakfast»… I got a stuffed french toast thing, and it was okay, but it was really just okay. I might get the same kind of thing from IHOP, but at IHOP for that price I would also have too many eggs, bacon, and hash browns to think about the price. It was okay, and since we had a «Buy One Get One» coupon, we didn’t regret going, but we didn’t have to pay full price. We probably won’t go back, not because it was terrible, but because there are too many other better tasting places or other places that are just okay, that don’t cost so much.

You heard me! or You saw me! 1 star… I went for breakfast this morning… MISTAKE! what a waste of an appetite! so first off, can you say RUDE waitress? everybody! RUDEWAITRESS! She coulda cared less that we were there, barely said 6 words to us the whole time, and 3 of them were thanks for coming. She acted like we were waisting her precious time. ok im done with that. The food was less than mediocre, my potatos were gewey and not fully cooked.(like i said in previous reviews, i know my potatoes!) Nothing more to say about the food because its not worth it. like i also said in a previous review im a germ aaaa phooobe! so ya when i see old food on my spoon and orange juice cup, it grosses me out! I’ve lived nearby ever since I moved back to K.C. a few years ago, so this has become a regular place when I’m out of other ideas. Yes, it’s a chain, but they actually manage to turn out some fairly decent food in very generous portions at reasonable prices. The décor is French/New Orleans, but there’s nothing very French or New Orleans about the food. Maybe that was from a previous corporate incarnation? The wait staff has always been very efficient and friendly. Service(and the kitchen) are usually pretty quick, so you can get in and out fairly fast if you’re in a rush to get somewhere else. The lunch and dinner specials can be quite good value and are sometimes surprisingly good. No point in spelling them out specifically, as they change fairly regularly, but there always seems to be some two or three-course special that’s worth considering. One thing I like is that even though it may be dinner time you can always order from the lunch or even breakfast menu! Breakfast items are available throughout the day, except for the ones that have hollandaise sauce(like Eggs Benedict) which are only available ’til noon. But they have a number of nice California-style omelets, generously served with fried red skin potatoes, toast, and orange juice. I’ve become partial to their five-alarm Santa Fe omelette, which is filled with diced fresh jalapeños and covered in a chipotle sauce. It’s surprisingly fiery for suburban food! They also make a good(and big) real patty melt on rye bread with grilled onions. Sometimes I get in the mood for that and it satisfies a craving. Their corn chowder is substantial and delicious. Their sandwiches are huge, but it’s possible to order a half-sandwich with fries or other accompaniment — my 98-year-old Dad, who doesn’t have the appetite he used to have, usually gets the half turkey sandwich(made from real turkey breast meat, not that pressed and formed stuff) and manages to finish it all. Like many California places, the plates often come garnished with big slices of fruit, which is a nice little extra. The desserts are huge, like most of the other portions. I’ve had the bread pudding, which was nice(but not great) and couldn’t finish it! They’re used to people not being able to finish and are well-supplied with to-go boxes! They’re famous for their huge muffins, but be careful because it’s easy to fill up on muffin and not have room for anything else. The bread basket is also generous, with rolls and mini-spice breads that can easily double as dessert. All in all, Mimi’s is pretty good value for the money and the food is generally good and reliable. I wouldn’t make a pilgrimage to Mimi’s, but they’re nice to have in the neighborhood. I’ve also been to the restaurant on 135th Street — it’s identical to this one on 95th and the comments apply to both.

So… I’ve had Mimi’s elsewhere in the country and was impressed but not this one this time. I ordered a Salmon Salad and the Salmon was very poor quality. I didn’t finish it. Unfortunate. They didn’t make me pay for it which was nice but I wouldn’t eat there again :(

I’m giving 4 stars only because I haven’t tried their lunch or dinner and my friend’s Dad said he didn’t enjoy his lunch experience there. Atmosphere: It seems like this is the place to be on Sunday morning. We arrived at 10AM, and there was no wait although the parking lot was packed. The place is huge when you walk in. The place was packed with mostly families. There were so many cute little kids there. I enjoyed it, but I guess some other people might not. Since I’m not from the area, I have no idea where the Churches are, but my friend told me the place seems to get especially packed shortly after Sunday Masses. We sat in a nice wraparound booth. Our server was friendly and attentive. FOOD: I can’t remember everything we got, but among the four of us, we ordered buttermilk pancakes, banana chocolate chip pancakes, buttered sourdough toast, and a strawberry banana smoothie. I ordered the belgian waffle, bacon, egg whites scrambled, orange juice, and water. The belgian waffle was nothing special, but it did taste pretty good. I was really happy with the EGGWHITES, and the BACON was tasty. I also tasted the BANANACHOCOLATECHIPPANCAKES which were yummy. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast. I was so full that I kinda wish I split breakfast with someone else. Price: I’m not usually a fan of spending more than $ 10 for breakfast, but it was more than worth it’s value. I think it was $ 11-$ 12 for the belgian waffle, scrambled egg whites(two eggs however you want them cooked), bacon(bacon strips or sausage links), and fresh squeezed orange juice(orange or apple). Everything was included in my meal. I can’t remember if we paid extra for egg whites. GREATFORKIDSANDFAMILIES, HUGEBREAKFAST, BANANACHOCOLATECHIPPANCAKES, EGGWHITES, BACON, FRESHSQUEEZEDJUICE

I had never heard of «comfort food» until I came to Mimi’s Café. I still am not real sure what that’s all about, but anyway… I have eaten here in the past and have never been disappointed. Chain restaurants are somewhat hard to judge since they are usually hit or miss, but this one is pretty good. The atmosphere is nice and friendly. Gotta love the bread!!! If you like chicken and pasta and you aren’t afraid of spinach then I would like to recommend the Medditeranean Chicken Fetuccini. The only thing that I don’t like is the Ceasar salad. I take issue with Ceasar salads that do not have Romaine lettuce. In any event, I would go again.

I really liked Mimi’s because it made me feel like I was in a grandma’s house… each part of the restuarant is like a different home of a house– the dining room, sitting room, kitchen… etc. It was really fun and different. The food was mostly ‘comfort food’ and sandwiches. I had a turkey sandwich is pesto mayo on ciabatta bread, and my mom had the beef dip. My sandwich was HUGE, but it was really good. I could only eat about 60% of the entire thing. The fries were classic showstring fries; nothing special but hit the spot as far as fries go. They play blues, jazz, and older music, which wasn’t really loud, but was nice to listen to while we were eating. Our server was an older woman with long black hair– she was really nice and made sure we were well taken care of. Since it was lunch we didn’t order dessert, but with ones like bread pudding and chocolate brownies, it WAS really tempting. Too bad I was already stuffed and couldn’t fit any more in. :) If you like going to restaurants for the atmosphere as much as the food, I’d check Mimi’s out.

Excellent! My husband asked me what I wanted for dinner, and I immediately thought about Mimi’s Café. I had never been there, but I had always been curious about it. Then I read a friend’s weblog and she liked the place, so I wanted to try it. I AMGLAD I DID! First, the atmosphere is fantastic, very classy, very familiar. People are friendly. We were lucky with a very nice waitress. Service is fast and drinks keep flowing. They give you their special carrot/raisin bread for starters… Yummy! They have a big menu, for all tastes. We decided to order the Black Bean and Chicken Chorizo Dip as an appetizer. Really good, right amount of spices. I suggest you order the bread instead of the tortillas. I know many people will be disgusted, but they serve grilled liver, a very familiar dish in Colombia. I didn’t order it, but my husband did and we both liked it very much. It comes with veggies and a choice of potato. He ordered it baked. Me? I had a meatloaf sandwich with coleslaw. The meatloaf is sumptuous, and that salad… Oh wow! It has tiny pieces of apple in it. I enjoyed my meal, or what I could eat of it because portions are very generous. We didn’t order dessert, but the manager came to see us, given it was our first visit, and she presented us with a selection of house muffins that we brought home. We were informed that their breakfast is delicious as well. I am happy to give my first 5 stars to Mimi’s Café in Overland Park, KS. A lovely place with awesome food.
