The food was pretty good. The kids ate chocolate chip pancakes and I has a Eggs Benedict plate that was very delicious. Atmosphere was good and the service was good.

1/11/2014−9:30am. The wife and I both had the cinnamon brioche French toast that was absolutely delicious. I ordered the meat lovers sides… pork sausage, bacon, and ham… all were delicious. The wife ordered the corn beef hash side and said it was probably the best she has ever had. Our server was wonderful she made sure our water, coffee, and tea were all filled throughout our visit. We had never been to a Mimi’s before but now are looking forward to going back for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I loved the fact that this was so close to where I live. I loved the fact that the highly recommended chicken pot pie more than delivered. I loved the fact that the service staff is friendly, attentive and well versed on the menu. I loved the fact that special requests were happily accommodated… until today. I ordered the Pomme Lyonnaise Benedict for the second time and requested that the potatoes were fried, because the first time I ordered it, the server suggested it and it was absolutely delicious. I also requested no melon in my fruit. Here’s where it goes downhill. The potatoes were barely finished on the griddle and cold in the middle. The server(by no fault of her own) informed me that the fruit is pre-mixed and, per the kitchen, it can’t be separated.(this requires no further comment, right?) I simply declined the fruit, repeatedly. So, along comes the manager shortly after food delivery with a separated fruit bowl. No apologies, no nothing. Just, ‘I believe this is for you?’ I declined, again and he left. It. on. the. table. Now I have cold potatoes, unwanted fruit and of course I find a hair on my plate. I pushed my plate aside, server noticed, I pointed it out to her, she was embarrassed it happened and took it to the manager. Guess who came back?! Same guy… still no apology but an assertion that it’s an eyelash and that he made sure all his staff was wearing hairnets before he came out. Look, simply put, NO amount of good service and food can make up for a horrible, unapologetic manager. Yep, he offered to take it off the bill; that wasn’t the point! It was strictly based on principle and he completely missed the mark. We paid full price and vow never to return. I feel very sorry for his staff. I can only imagine how they’re treated if that’s the type of behavior the company allows managers to have towards their guests. I would love to tell you his name, but hey… guess who didn’t offer that up either?!

I visited Mimi’s about 2 weeks ago for lunch. At that time I ordered the strawberry and walnut salad with a price of about $ 8. I then visited this week I noticed they had a new menu with some of the old favorites and some new items. I ordered the same salad and was very disappointed. This salad was about $ 2 more in price and I got a lot less! Plus, the very best thing about Mimi’s is their muffins — but they no longer give the muffins with salads! Instead we were offered french baguette bread. I was very disappointed and will not return.

Bloody Mary’s are very good(and tall) here. Kinda on the expensive side but awesome egg Benedict and muffins. If you are looking for a more upscale brunch place, this fits perfect. Lunch is pretty good too.

Let me first state that the manager(I’m assuming) of Mimi’s is the only reason I am giving it two stars. She came by our table and checked on us, very personable. I liked her. Onto the rest of the review: Food: We ordered the trio for an app, it was blah, the chicken tasted like it had freezer burn or something I can’t put my finger on, but just odd. I assume they are frozen and heavily processed by the taste. The zucchini was greasy, bland and«smashy yet rubbery??» What was good was the spinach artichoke dip. I liked it and dipped my bread in it and wanted more bread… meanwhile it took forever for our food to come out, the restaurant was not even ¼ full. But, on the bright side the table behind me which consisted of two elderly ladies were very chatty and we could hear their conversation– I only hope that I am as cool as them when I am older. Our server didn’t seem experienced, and she was friendly, but once again I can’t quite put my finger on it.odd. She kept telling us and the other nearby table that she believed she«saw some(fill in the blank) ready or almost ready. So, what she is telling us is that yes, I saw your food and it is plated; however it is going to have to sit on the warmer because I am running behind. For our entrees we ordered jambalaya and the bacon mac-n-cheese. The hubs said the mac-n-cheese was«good.» The jambalaya was not… the pasta was done perfect, but the chicken and sausage were not edible. It was supposed to have pork loin in there but I don’t recall seeing it. The shrimp was okay… maybe…I was going to send it back, but the hubs said he would take it for his lunch. Close to the end of our meal, we observed several older patrons enter, they were regulars and got waited on much more efficiently. Well, unfortunately I will never receive the«regular» treatment because I probably will never return. Once again, to whoever the woman was that came over to check on us-Kudos!

I went for breakfast on a Sunday morning and was very surprised. Though they needed another hostess to seat people, the manager was very busy working on the floor and the service was fantastic. We enjoyed fresh and tasty breakfast with always full coffee and water glasses. When they found out we were new to the area, they sent us home with some samples of their muffins. We will be returning due to their friendliness and wonderful service.

My husband and I went to Mimi’s at 11:15 a.m. to avoid the lunch rush. We were promptly seated, however, we had to wait 40 minutes for our entrees! During that time we asked for bread. After being served the bread our waitress did not return to check on us. My generous portions of tilapia served over brown rice and steamed vegetables was quite good. My husband enjoyed the salmon served over brown rice and a side of steamed vegetables. Also, my water glass was left dry and that was the only beverage I ordered with dinner, so I really needed my water. Mimi’s is working on changing«who they are.» In recent months, we have visited several times. Upon being seated you are greeted by your waitress with, «Bonjour.» Also, they are really focusing on their wines by presenting a sales speech on their wine flights. In addition, after paying the hefty price of $ 30.00(and tack on the tip) for lunch, we were offered the opportunity to donate a dollar to the American Heart Association. OK, I realize that it is only a dollar, but when I go to lunch, I don’t want to feel like a heel if I don’t donate; so I kind of felt like I had to donate… a little uncomfortable.

Again, I found myself agreeing to patronize another joy in suburbia tonight. I had visited the 95th Street location about 3 years earlier and thought my meal(some kind of fish) was just okay. Needless to say, I wasn’t jumping with anticipation for this meal. Menu items were fairly-priced and there was plenty to choose from. There were not-so-common items like Asparagus & Brie Quiche, some kind of shepherd’s pie, and a chicken crêpe; and there were the usual staples like country-fried steak and battered fish. I timidly ordered the quiche. And boy, was it delicious! Really, the 5″ pie had just the right amount of tomatoes, brie, bacon, asparagus, and spices in the tastiest thick crust. It was quite flavorful, and the consistency was just right. No sponginess. The plate also featured a huge slice of fresh pineapple, a handful of purple grapes, a slice of honey dew, and a small pile of green spring mix. Also, I could’ve sworn the menu said the entrée came with a cup of soup, but when the check came, I was charged $ 1.99 for it. I didn’t bother to mention it, though. I felt bad enough for the server. She’d rang in the wrong meal for me, and I already had to send back a chicken dish. Whatever. Mimi’s really surprised me tonight. I thought I would have to suffer through another boring meal, but it ended up being rather enjoyable. If I’m forced to choose another big-chain eatery, I would soon choose this place again.

Mediocre lattes. Massive breakfast portions. Free juice and muffin with our omelettes. We were surprised to receive 4 free muffins to go, as it was our first time. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go here, but I would come if lines were too long elsewhere.

Here for breakfast for a meeting and was not impressed. They were not busy yet the service was slow, our orders were wrong and some things we ordered never even came out. We told them but decided not to wait because the food took so long in the first place. The coffee is not so great. My omelet was bland and the fruit was not good. I’m glad I wasn’t the one paying for the meal. They do have a large menu for breakfast. But I wouldn’t choose to come here again for it.

I’ve lived nearby ever since I moved back to K.C. a few years ago, so this has become a regular place when I’m out of other ideas. Yes, it’s a chain, but they actually manage to turn out some fairly decent food in very generous portions at reasonable prices. The décor is French/New Orleans, but there’s nothing very French or New Orleans about the food. Maybe that was from a previous corporate incarnation? The wait staff has always been very efficient and friendly. Service(and the kitchen) are usually pretty quick, so you can get in and out fairly fast if you’re in a rush to get somewhere else. The lunch and dinner specials can be quite good value and are sometimes surprisingly good. No point in spelling them out specifically, as they change fairly regularly, but there always seems to be some two or three-course special that’s worth considering. One thing I like is that even though it may be dinner time you can always order from the lunch or even breakfast menu! Breakfast items are available throughout the day, except for the ones that have hollandaise sauce(like Eggs Benedict) which are only available ’til noon. But they have a number of nice California-style omelets, generously served with fried red skin potatoes, toast, and orange juice. I’ve become partial to their five-alarm Santa Fe omelette, which is filled with diced fresh jalapeños and covered in a chipotle sauce. It’s surprisingly fiery for suburban food! They also make a good(and big) real patty melt on rye bread with grilled onions. Sometimes I get in the mood for that and it satisfies a craving. Their corn chowder is substantial and delicious. Their sandwiches are huge, but it’s possible to order a half-sandwich with fries or other accompaniment — my 98-year-old Dad, who doesn’t have the appetite he used to have, usually gets the half turkey sandwich(made from real turkey breast meat, not that pressed and formed stuff) and manages to finish it all. Like many California places, the plates often come garnished with big slices of fruit, which is a nice little extra. The desserts are huge, like most of the other portions. I’ve had the bread pudding, which was nice(but not great) and couldn’t finish it! They’re used to people not being able to finish and are well-supplied with to-go boxes! They’re famous for their huge muffins, but be careful because it’s easy to fill up on muffin and not have room for anything else. The bread basket is also generous, with rolls and mini-spice breads that can easily double as dessert. All in all, Mimi’s is pretty good value for the money and the food is generally good and reliable. I wouldn’t make a pilgrimage to Mimi’s, but they’re nice to have in the neighborhood. I’ve also eaten regularly at the restaurant on 95th(in Oak Park Mall), which is identical, and these comments apply to that location, too.

Went here for brunch on father’s day with a couple of gal pals and I was surprised that it didn’t entirely suck. I was expecting the usual chain-type food and when I opened the menu, it looked like it was going to meet those expectations. But there were some surprise gems in there. One was the hummus sampler. Served with pita chips and cucumbers, I was impressed by both flavors brought out to us. The other was the bacon mac & cheese. Made with an asiago & cheddar cream cheese sauce and sprinkled with delicious, thick bits of crispy bacon, I was thoroughly taken aback by how tasty it was. I actually finished the whole thing. Now for the bad. Our waiter. I don’t even know how to describe him. I’m not really sure what language he was speaking besides hung-over-mumbling but it became a joke every time he left the table. «What the hell did he say?» «Something about bananas and jock straps?» «Gurgle mumble gurgle?» We eventually just made up our own dialogue and thought up creative things he could have been saying. Overall, a nice brunch. I probably won’t seek it out again unless someone else wants to meet me there, but I won’t put up to much fight at the suggestion just to get my greedy mitts on that mac & cheese again.

This chain has an amazing Bread Basket that I sometimes crave. Banana Bread, French Bread etc etc. I had the Dijon Salmon an it was very tasty(after the bread basket you might consider a low cal dish as such). I loved the French country décor. I saw many kids there so I’m going to assume its a Kid friendly environment with items on the menu that they will enjoy.

I’ve eaten here a bazillion times, I don’t know why I never reviewed it before. I love the bread basket they give at the beginning of your meal, however, Mimi’s became stingy at some point, and they no longer hand out bread, you must ask for it. Bummer. The entrees are pretty good, a lot of selection and for the most part its quality food. However, on my most recent visit, the waitress informed me the Mimi’s chain was bought out by a different corporation, which could account for the changes on the menu and the bread issue. Overall, its a decent lunch or breakfast place, and their muffins are very good.

Thinking again, I amd giving it a 3 star rating. Pretty decent for a chain. —- I am visiting Kansas from SF, so am not excpecting much from food around in here. I went to Mimi’s before going to the movie theatre that is close by. The place, as most places around here, looks faux/old chateou style. Inside I found this even more fake french/paris/creole luisiana new orleans decour. They had a map of paris metro, and some New Orleands posters… hmmm… cheezy, but actually the whole place looks pretty friendly and accomodating. The waitress was just awesome(and nice to). She was really fast and didn’t waste any time, yet very nice and friendly. The food was good. I ordered a Hisbicus drink(sparknling wine + cranberry juice), and they whole bottle(small) comes with it, great value for 5.99. I ordered the fajita apetizer, and that thing was huge, almost an entrée by itself. The main entrée was the chicken gordon bleu, which was decent. I didn’t order a dessert, but their chocoloate brownies/ice-cream was just huge. You could feed a whole normal family with that(no wonder you see so many fat asses around here). Overrall, this is a decent chain, with cheap prices, more deserving a 3.5 but I am giving it a 4, b/c of the great service. At the end I was trying to chit-chat a little bit with the waitress,(she hapenned to be from Virginia, where I went to school), and trying to see if there were any good bars/clubs around, but she actually is working on some church group, volunteering during the day. So… obviously the wrong person to ask where I could pick up some Kansas chickie, to keep me warm that night.
