If I lived here, I would probably come here every day and gain 1000 pounds. I came at 7:30, and most of the donuts were already gone. Come here early. I can’t blame them though, the lady at the cash register is fantastically nice and the reviews are accurate. Not a fancy place, but good donuts and good people.

Mr. And Mrs. D. are the nicest folks you could ask for to peddle a donut in KC. On our arrival, they were dabbing children’s noses with icing, smiling, and having a great time. It’s a hole in the wall, a donut dive if you will. Selection was really limited when we arrived around 9:30. I’ll try to get here earlier next time for a world famous cinnamon roll or custom donut. Even so, the plain glazers were still better than most chain locations.

The best!!! Total hole in the wall. Go early, they run out of the popular stuff quickly!

Mr. Ds has been around for a long time and is one of my favorite places. The restaurant has remained almost unchanged over the years and feels just like it did long ago. The donuts are great and it is fair on pricing. Would definitely recommend.

Best donuts in the metro! Sweet old couple run the place, & really care about their customers. Cash or check only. Honey dipped are out of this world!

I’m doing a donut tour of Kansas City, and Mr. D’s takes the prize! In fact, I wouldn’t mind eating Mr. D’s donuts everyday. The honey dipped and the cinnamon roll are must haves. Great donuts, couples with great servie makes this the BEST donut shop in the area.

The elusive FIVESTARREVIEW!!! I can’t stop eating this damn thing. It’s so good. Wow is all I can say. It has the perfect ratio of sweetness to cinnamon goodness. It’s the lightest fluffiest cinnamon roll I have every eaten. Like a cloud! I asked the little Asian lady to give me the one donut that she was proudest of. She pointed to the framed article on the wall and said,(I am paraphrasing) «Our cinnamon roll got us in the paper.» Personally, I would not have gone for it on my own.

Fresh made and delicious! They will up-sell you, but let them, it’s worth it. Cinnemon rolls are gigantic and the honey dipped(glazed) donuts got incredible reviews by my office. Much different than what I expected by the view from outside. I trusted the other reviews on Unilocal and happy I did.

Bought 6 dozen donuts today for a meeting at work. I gave them the courtesy of advance ordering and everything was ready. That’s the official part. The best part is the eating! Now I love a good Krispy Kreme as much as the next person, but to know these are handmade and not machine made and are just crisp enough on the outside but fluffy on the inside! OMG! The best!

Mr. D’s donuts are donuts for donut lovers — soft but crisp fried texture on the outside, wonderfully soft and chewy on the inside. Every donut we’ve had from there has been great, but the honey dip and the buttermilk cake are two standouts. Both sound a little odd, but are among the best in town. The cash register appears to be from the 1930’s, so bring cash or a check!

This place is definitely what you call a great throwback donut shop. The donuts are good ol’ fashion flavors/style. The honey dip(glazed) had that great slight crisp bite to it, yet it was light and fluffy inside. The Bavarian Cream filled donut also had that light/fluffiness to it with a nice pudding like cream. The buttermilk donut wasn’t bad either. We arrived at 8: 30 so a lot of the flavors were already gone. Will definitely go back to get a blueberry and a strawberry flavor. The other reviews about the very nice Asian couple running this rather quaint shop are fairly accurate. There are Chinese decorations on the walls, there are some dollar store item racks on the eastern wall, and they have a crank operated cash register. Bring your cash but you just need $ 0.80/donut and $ 8 per dozen.

I have to say, mom & pop’s donut places, literally MOM&POP, are the best. i know that in KC Lamar’s gets all the credit, but between Mr. D’s and Fluffy Fresh, there’s no reason to ever go to Lamar’s again. first off, the prices, 80 cent donuts, 1.20 for something bigger how can you go wrong? everything is fresh and delicious and not heavy like Lamar’s get. we’re big fans, and will substitute Mr. D’s for the now closed Hilwa on 87th. love love love this place.
