Very unhappy. 55 minutes to get my beach club that had missing ingredients and has been an hour waiting for the replacement that has yet to arrive. I LOVE jimmy johns. I will not be ordering from this location anymore. Freaky fast my foot. Having been looking forward to this sandwich for two hours now I worry it will only taste like sadness and disappointment.

They had my sandwich out freaky fast, even during the lunch rush, and still apologized for being slow when I was, in fact, surprised by their speed. They really piled on the lettuce and tomatoes though. Made it very difficult to eat until I removed about ¾ of it. Other than that, no real complaints, everyone there seemed nice and it wasn’t dirty.

So sad this used to be my Jimmy John’s. I was kind of surprised their service would not be better, especially since another Jimmy John’s opened near by on Shawnee Mission Pkwy. Did my usual drive thru order, very nice over the intercom. Read my order back and seemed spot on, I went in the drive-thru around 1:30 pm on a Monday. Apparently not very busy this time of day since everyone was hanging out at the counter when I drove around to the counter. They took my payment promptly and gave me my drink. Could see through the drive thru window that it was slow by everyone hanging out. Yet somehow I sat there and waited for my sandwich and pickle. I did have my drink and cell phone to entertain myself. Finally receive my bag of food by an un-enthusiastic employee. My order was almost correct. The bread was incorrect but I was too much in a hurry to get it corrected. And quite frankly from the staff hanging out at their job I was afraid to complain I fear they would spit in my food. It’s too bad. In the past I would have given this Jimmy Johns 5 stars hands down. It is apparent they have become complacent.

I’ve learned after the first time(a year ago) if something doesn’t taste right, stop eating. STOP! I got food poisoning from bad avocado spread on my Beach Club. My husband has been served old peepers on his Italian Night Club, and last week, I had bad/old tomatoes on my Roast Beef. I pulled all the tomatoes off and(luckily) didn’t get sick. I don’t know if they’re saving money by not chucking old and rotting produce but«fresh» is not this franchise!

I love Jimmy Johns although I have held a grudge against this location after I asked them to add mustard on a sandwich through the drive thru and later, when I dug in, they had actually put mustard packages INTHESANDWICH — like between the bread with the meat, etc. I was furious. Luckily, after avoiding the place for a very long time, I have started going back and have not had similar experiences. I still think the Westport location is better(friendlier, more attentive). I wish they had sliced pickles, but hey – you can’t have everything. I like the cookies too.

Gourmet? I don’t know about that. Jimmy John’s Totally Edible Sammich? Sure. JJ’s really does make a decent sub. They don’t have the great bread of a Planet Sub sandwich, though, or the unique taste of Schlotszky’s. They do, however, have a very important quality: location. Make that locations — these guys used to have just one store in Westport, now they’re everywhere. The Shawnee location is so new it’s doesn’t even show up on Google results, so if you’re in Lenexa/Shawnee and find yourself craving a modestly priced sandwich that’s pretty tasty and very fresh, give Jimmy John’s the gourmet challenge. You may not give them five stars, but you’ll still go away satisfied.
