Let me start by saying that this was the first daycare we had ever used, so maybe our judgment of Kids R Kids is not as thorough as parents who have used multiple daycares. However, there were enough red flags to make us switch daycares altogether and it has been night and day since we made the switch. Kids R Kids is a large daycare, which we had no problem with at all, with the classrooms broken down by age, usually in 1 year increments. The facility is about 15 years old, and although the exterior was recently updated, the classrooms are showing their age, particularly the cribs and toys. Our daughter was in the infant room which had a assigned«lead teacher» and a bunch of support staff. After the first few days we realized that the support staff was just that, not really qualified to help our child grow and learn. When we picked our daughter up in the afternoon she was often wet and her outfit would be covered in stains. One time her top was completely soaked through and she was cold and I asked if anyone had checked on her, but the two women working the room said they«thought they did.» Things happen, we understand that, but one thing really concerned me. I came to pick up our daughter and I was surprised to find that there wasn’t an adult to be found in the room; instead two«young-adults» were working the room. I asked them if they were full-time or in college and they both said, «no, we are in high school and work here after school.» Now don’t get me wrong, I am all for kids having after school jobs, but for $ 200 a week I would expect to have a lead adult in the room at all times. After that experience it was a matter of counting the days until we could escape that daycare for a better place. I am happy to say that the new daycare, which is only $ 10 more a week, is infinitely better, and we have had no problems with that facility since our daughter has been there. Nothing against the people at Kids R Kids, but I would not encourage any of our friends or family to use their facility at this time. Hopefully our experience was isolated and their services improve in the future.
