Nice atmosphere and friendly service, but we hesitated between 2 – 3 stars. Two of us went for dinner before and Olé Miss basketball, and we wanted something casual. Two glasses of wine plus two entrees and tip came to $ 120. When we each ordered the two different catch of the day entrees, we realized it would be pricey. And even if we had known each was $ 35, we still would have ordered, but looking back it wasn’t worth it. The soft shell crabs were delicious, but they came on a very overlooked bed of pasta. The grouper was also nice, but the side of broccoli was dried out. We also waited 20 before getting our salads and then were served entrees before we had even finished them. We’ll go back in a few months and try again.

Bacchus, the Roman God of Wine and Intoxication. While I did see several tables with wine bottles, they should have named the restaurant Bacchus and Bubona because the steak here is arguably the best I have ever eaten. More on that in a minute. I came here with 3 other co-workers on a Friday before the LSU game. We got turned away from 3 other places(including the ever popular McEwen’s… at which we were already treated to rudely by their hostess two weeks before… We won’t be back) and ended up at Bacchus. The wait time? Almost two hours. It was worth every second. You can give the hostess your name and number and she will call you when your table opens up. The décor is very random. Animal heads with Santa hats, wine paraphernalia, cotton plants. Good thing I didn’t come for the décor, and you shouldn’t let it deter you either, because the food is outstanding. We did get seated eventually, again, it’s worth the wait. We started with Raw Oysters, Charboiled Oysters, Debris Fries and seared tuna. We were hungry. All the apps were fantastic. We all ordered a filet, great size and quality for $ 30. The side salad was«meh.» Very small, but good thing I didn’t come there for the side salad. Loaded mashed potatoes were a wee bit bland and just barely warm, but I didn’t wait 2 hours for those either. The filet was amazing. Cooked perfectly and dry aged for an alleged 35 days. I could have cut through it with a spoon. No sauce necessary as it had a rich, garlic butter flavor. I don’t know what sort of sacred cow they cut this meat from, but I wanted to kiss the cook, and so did my co-workers. Seriously. One of the best cuts of meat you will EVER eat. I had to check out the cheesecake dessert(they aren’t listed on the menu, but just ask). It was a generous portion of deliciousness. Split it with the guys, and everyone was happy. The server was very attentive, brought refills regularly without having to ask for them. As we were walking out, the(owner I am presuming) apologized for the wait time and said that this was her busiest night they had ever had. Welp, if you keep serving up that kind of steak, you’re going to have many, many busy nights like that to come. Highly recommended from quite possibly the most pessimistic foodie on planet Earth.

This place markets itself with a New Orleans name but it is nothing of New Orleans quality. The oysters are from Maine and were micro size but covered in gobs of batter to make them appear larger. The quality was terrible for the price($ 65 lunch for 3)

Loved it. Went with my girlfriend and we can’t wait to go back. I had the shrimp po boy. And she had the pork chop, they were both amazing.

A nice new addition to the Square. The food, staff and service are all great. We plan to return again to sample more of their delicious menu.(and maybe have a Blue Moon beer or two !)

First off, we really wanted to like this place. REALLY. My boyfriend, two friends, and I decided to stop by for some dinner on Thursday night. Before heading there, I called ahead to make sure that it wasn’t too busy and reservations were not needed. The conversation went something like… *RINGRING* Bacchus: Hello? Me: Uh. Hello??? … Is this Bacchus? Bacchus: Yeah Me: Oh. okay. Sorry.(SUPERCONFUSED) You didn’t say anything so I thought I called the wrong place. I was just making sure you were open Bacchus: We are. Me: Ok. Thanks. Strike one. Upon arriving, the first thing I noticed were the tablecloths. Very unique… But I guess it goes with the vibe. Our first(yes, first) server was friendly enough. Our drinks arrived with our second server, who said he was taking over for the first(?!) The ticket time for the table’s 2 dozen raw oyster appetizers was literally 35 minutes. Strike two. For our main course, I ordered the grouper special, my boyfriend ordered an oyster poboy + side salad, and our friends ordered a pasta + side salad and the red fish special. I can’t speak for our friends, but my grouper was on the drier side and my boyfriend did not care for his poboy at all. Unfortunately, the side salads did not come out until AFTER the main course, wherein we had to flag down the server and ask for them. Imagine our surprise when we were met with the response, «Oh! What kind of salad was it?»(This is after we had a full 2 minute discussion with the server earlier about what kind of salad they had and what dressings they offered) Strike three. After paying our ticket(~$ 90 for my boyfriend and I WITHOUT alcoholic beverages), we left feeling slightly displeased. I hope to give them another shot sometime, but not sure my friends and boyfriend will be up for it. Hoping that this is «new restaurant jitters» going on!

Best Po Boy ever, NOLA Debris fries took an app to a whole new level-tasty! Excellent service, loved the atmosphere. Bartender very helpful and knowledgable. Special treat was the Secret Islands hand scrub. Definitely will be back!
