Handy Andy’s is your simple grocery burger joint. They don’t try to be too fancy and that’s what makes it great. Just your old fashioned right-off-the-grill burger everyone loves. There BBQ isn’t anything to oversee either. If your in a hurry, this is not the place for you because it is always packed!

Definitely could use a facelift as far as atmosphere goes, but their burgers are undeniably good and affordable! Reminds me of the homemade burgers my Pappy used to make as a child. You will leave full and satisfied.

As a self-proclaimed cheeseburger enthusiast, I can honestly say Handy Andy’s has the best cheeseburger I’ve EVER had, in my LIFE. Not kidding. When I go home to Houston, this cheeseburger is the main thing I miss in Oxford. I am also a huge fan of their grilled chicken sandwich because it’s so classic. Just straight up seasoned grilled chicken, tomato, lettuce, and mayo. I really don’t understand what makes it so good, but it’s addicting. The only problem with Handy Andy is that they WILL make you wait for it. They give you a number, and sometimes it will take 30 – 45 minutes to get your food if it’s during peak time. However, I promise you it’s worth the wait. Try to go when it’s not 12 pm on a Friday before a home football game because these are the craziest times.

This place is a hole in the wall. I keep seeing posts about how it’s dirty, old, etc. Well, yeah. It’s a burger and BBQ shack in the side of an older strip building. What do you expect? This place has the best and cheapest burger hands down. You can walk out of there very satisfied for under 8 dollars. I’ve had one bad experience and they fixed it for me with no problem. Don’t let the«dirty» pictures and reviews keep you from this place. If you want a really good cheap cheesy burger with a lunch sack full of crinkle cut fries or tots, this is your place.

The best part of this dive BBQ place is that it stays the same. I was at Olé Miss 1986 – 1990 and it is the same place now 25 years later. Don’t come here to be waited on my sorority girls in cutoffs. Don’t come here to use the 3 second rule with a dropped French fry. Come here for bad ass flat top magic and hot BBQ old school style. Olé Miss is all about what’s hot and new in the food scene for most but I always end up back and my favorites. Handy Andy is that. Pulled pork BBQ sammiches and the best BURGER in Oxford. Thrill-list names Handy Andy one of the nations best college burgers! Go!

Fantastic bbq, even better burgers! Iced tea is famous. I love this place, it’s essential Oxford. If you are OCD and a clean freak, you might have some issues, but it’s a great place to eat. The cops eat here, what’s that tell ya?

The food is delicious, but the facility itself needs a deep cleaning. The wait staff was a little short with their answers and quick to answer, but it was a busy time for them. Employees were quite busy and they were not rude, but they were not friendly either. Definitely worth it for takeout, because the food is delicious!

I had a double cheeseburger and fries. Excellent old school burger and good old fashioned crinkle cut fries. My friend had the bbq plate with fries and baked beans. He said it was excellent. No complaints about the food. And the prices were great. However, the people who work there are rude and surly. I’m not sure if they are over worked. and exhausted or what. However, I don’t return to businesses that don’t at least pretend to be appreciative of my business. Also, the place is dirty. The walls and the floors are filthy.

Just moved to Oxford. I live near by and love this place. Great price but the quality of the food is excellent. I think owners run the place. I recommend the rib plate

Everything about this place is wonderful. The nostalgia of walking in and seeing that it hasn’t changed in years to the consistency of the food throughout time. This place is perfect.

This restaurant provides the best bang for your buck with quality food. It’s cheap and the burger here is in my top 3 list of best burgers of Oxford, Mississippi.

The BBQ is good, but go for the burger. If you need a grease bomb after a long night on the Square, head to Handy Andy’s. This place is so much better than a fast food chain. Everything is reasonably priced. This is near the top of Southern hole in the wall delicacies.

One of the best restaurants in Oxford for the price, and most people don’t know about it. Double cheeseburger with bacon is the way to go.

Double decker hamburger is soooooooo good. I have an idea that I’m going to pitch the next time I go there; two top buns because the bottom hamburger bun gets really wet & falls apart. It’s messy but soo freaking good!

Delicious! You could probably start wars over BBQ debates, but for my money(and you won’t pay a lot here), this stuff is WONDERFUL. A friend of mine who grew up in Oxford took me(she’s now in her 30s and has fond memories of family lunches there as a little girl; great they’ve survived so long) and took over the ordering. We had pork sandwiches with a scoop of cole slaw on top… and then the most fantastic touch EVER — a handful of sour cream n onion potato chips smashed down under the bun. We picnicked at a park, and seriously — it was wonderful. The women at the counter were lovely, atmosphere was non existent which makes for atmosphere itself, and whenever I’m back to visit it’ll be the single place I absolutely must return to.

I ate here pretty often when I was at Olé Miss and it hasn’t really changed at all. This is purely a restaurant and not a grocery and they do have a decent selection of things to eat. The hamburger is really good and probably worthy of three stars while the BBQ is more around a one or two star. The best choice here is definitely the cheeseburger and they also have a nice smoked turkey sandwich. Unfortunately the«BBQ» sandwiches remind me a lot more of a sloppy joe in their taste and texture. I’ve eaten a LOT of BBQ and sadly this is definitely towards the bottom of my list so I would recommend opting for the fantastic burger.

Its a good place for a quick bite, but not much more than that. I’m not quite sure why its called grocery. While in Oxford MS I was told that there was very little good bbq in the area and this was pretty much my only hope(little did they know I was headed to Birmingham AL that day for one of my best bbq experiences ever). I told them I’d give it a try and report back to Unilocal. You walk into a very brightly lit place that is reminiscent of a cafeteria. The smells are great and the prices are good so don’t be distracted by the décor. I went for the ribeye sandwich. Pretty much just what you get. The steak has a little seasoning but otherwise straight up sliced ribeye between 2 peices of bread, for under $ 5, you can’t really beat it. My buddy got the bbq sandwich, it was tasty, but coming from NC it definitely wasn’t anything special. All in all it was a good meal for a great price, but nothing to go out of your way for.

Even though the sign calls attention to their BBQ, the thing to get here is the cheeseburger deluxe. Great stuff, and one of the best in town. You can get much better BBQ at B’s on South Lamar. the stuff here is more reminiscent of a sloppy joe.

WIth a name like Handy Andy’s, you half expect it to be a cheap themed escort service. I imagine Andy as a mustachioed factotem who can fix the cable, clean the pipes, and keep your wife company. Just me? Perhaps. Handy’s Andy’s is one of those often forgotten roadside establishments. You’ll pass it, thinking«that place is probably shit.» But decide to cruise by and you’ll be doing yourself a huge disservice, because Handy Andy’s is the shit. Located in what must be a converted double wide, Handy Andy’s Grocery is less of a grocery and more of a snack bar that offers delicious counter service BBQ. The dining area is unassuming and might be unappealing to some, but the wood paneling and the double wide setting made me feel like I was back in middle school, dining in the portable where I had Algebra I. I don’t even know if there is(or for that matter, was) an Andy in the kitchen, but the cook certainly knew how to make a hamburger. And for someone who believes making a burger is a form of art, Handy Andy’s doesn’t disappoint. Per my brother’s recommendation I went with my jumbo cheeseburger, which was close to the best burger I’d every put in my mouth. Now I’ve had organic Niman Ranch burgers and Wagyu/Kobe beef burgers; I’m still not sure what the secret ingredient was(love?), but I could not put my burger down. The combination of perfectly seasoned meat, fresh and crisp veggies, and the perfect amount of dressin’ might make you lose it a little bit. It almost made me cry. The sides were good for the most part; my crinkle cut fries were crisp and hot, and the potato salad was mustard based(a good thing). Since you’re in the dirty South there’s no point in trying to be healthy-round it out with a sweet tea and a fresh banana pudding. Try not to bug out when you hear your total is barely eight bucks. Handy Andy’s proves that you can still get a great cheap meal(with dessert) for the price you would pay at McDonald’s. So screw the Golden Arches; if you’re in the Magnolia state look for a double wide.
