Two words: Highlander Grogg :) This place is such a gem and is a great place to camp out with homework, friends, and a bottomless mug

Excellent coffee. I really enjoyed their ice coffee brew. Go here instead of starbucks. Prices are comparable to most good coffee houses.

During my time at Miami, this place has always been a go to for getting work done. The best deal is the bottomless cups. You can get it with their coffee or their teas. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love iced tea and do not like sweet tea. However, the sweet tea here is slightly flavored with a fruit(blueberry is best!) and just a hint of sweetener. This keeps the tea delicious and quite refreshing, which most sweet teas can loose. You can’t go wrong if you go in the morning or evening, grab a bottomless, and knock out a few hours of work. It’s also important to note that they don’t have an extensive menu, but what they do have is delicious! I usually go for the buttermilk scones or the turkey pesto wrap. If a meal is what you need, they are usually fine letting you bring in your own food as long as you grab your drink from them! Since my time at Miami is coming to an end, it is safe to say that I am really going to miss this casual hangout.

By far my FAVORITE place in Oxford, Ohio. This hip, independently owned coffee shop is a gem! The baristas are always nice and friendly, the owner is a Miami Alum(Go RedHawks!), the coffee is SO good & the ambiance makes you want to stay forever. If you’re in Oxford, want coffee and a chill place to hang, look no further. Kofenya is your place! My favorite drinks are the coffee(all the varieties are great), hot cinnamon spice tea & London Fog!

As a long time coffee drinker, I consider myself a good judge of quality cup of coffee. The iced coffee at Kofenya is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Even better than my own cold brew! Also, it’s always better to support an independently owned business as opposed to an international chain. I will definitely return to Kofenya next time I’m in Oxford. Go there folks! It’s just a couple of blocks away from Starbucks!

Kofenya is great. Coffee is better than Starbucks without waiting in a long line. If you haven’t tried it yet, I recommend giving it a chance. I like that they carry fair trade and socially conscious coffee. Try it out! Also a great place for club meetings or doing homework.

Great food, crap Internet. If you want a place to drink coffee, have lunch, and read, this is it. If you want a place to drink coffee, have lunch, and yell at people online, this is probably not your best bet.

This is SOMUCHBETTERTHANSTARBUCKS. This place is a small coffee shop that has ample seating. At times it can be crowded but people are friendly and share the space. Great coffee and wonderful Batista’s. Must see if you need to study or just relax for an afternoon, curling up and taking time to enjoy your day.

The chider – apple cider and chai – was life changing. It’s year round too so don’t assume it’s only a fall tradition!

Get a cup of coffee or tea here every time I’m in town(maybe 3 – 4 times a year). Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

I was in town for a few days and decided to check out the the hip local coffee shop, Kofenya. The staff was friendly and prompt, but the Americano I ordered was over extracted. The interior has a warm, artsy, and eclectic feel. In my experience, the wifi here was irritatingly slow, and I found myself waiting for pages to load. I can’t imagine how slow it would be during the school year(visited in early August). Overall Kofenya was alright for me, but seems to have potential to be more than just a typical café in a college town.

For Oxford, it’s a pretty cool place. Far better than any Starbucks.

Ha! I’m the so-called Duke of this place and haven’t even written a review. Shame on me! I prefer to support the«local guy» when I can, particularly when it comes to coffee. I like coffee. A lot. I appreciate Starbucks and what they do but I don’t think they have the delicious coffee market cornered by any stretch of the imagination. It’s easy to hit the good local place in the town you work in, too. Not doing so is just lazy. I’ve been in to Kofenya probably 6 or 7 times and it’s always good. The people are friendly and during«normal» coffee shop hours i.e. before 10a, it’s never crowded. There are options for seating — booths, tables, couches, outside. The prices are reasonable and they have some fun flavors(I had a white-and-dark chocolate mocha called a «Zebra», I think). The regular coffee is always tasty and they serve their espresso in cute little metal cups, which I like. They’ll charge you an extra $ 0.25 if you use your credit card for less than $ 2. No big deal really. Keep an eye on your meter if you park out front, as parking enforcement folks are always lurking in the shadows. Oh yeah — free wi-fi! I like Kofenya a lot and will continue to give them my business.

I love this place. Excellent lattes with a very generous amount of espresso. The staff has always been warm and welcoming and the space is large enough that you can usually find your own space. I have one complaint that has been driving me crazy for a while now, the tables are rubbish. Each one wobbles and it is very frustrating when typing on a laptop. If this place got some solid wooden tables, or even ones that didn’t move, I would be there day and night.

THE coffeehouse for Miami students. Look closely and you’ll spot a professor or three. Prices decent. Usual selection of coffee drinks. The quality is ok. It’s not mind-blowingly great coffee, but it’s also not bad. I don’t recall getting a cup of coffee there and thinking, YUCK. Staff are students or recently graduated students. Free Wireless — it brings the kids to the yard. Nearly impossible to feet a table during exam week

A great indie coffeehouse at the edge of a college town, Kofenya is a favorite for Miami students looking for a place to relax and study. The environment is what really sells the place, what with their vintage furniture and cozy atmosphere. They have impeccable taste in music, which is played at a volume neither obtrusive nor imperceptible. The friendly baristas and indie atmosphere make this a perfect hangout for the less-corporate-inclined students of Miami, but their coffee is only average. They have a good selection of flavored syrups and latte configurations, but the espresso itself is second-rate. Still enjoyable and definitely tasty, but it could use a little work.

Only independent coffee shop in uptown. Luckily it’s a good one. Can be overrun with students(both college and/or high school) at times. Liz, the owner, is the best. Comfortable for chatting, working, and sipping great coffee.

«Kofenya is [NOT] hands down the place for coffee in Oxford.» The interior is old and looks like a seedy dive-bar for third-rate, cracked-out rockers and their sycophantic groupies. The furniture is a collection of undergraduate junk that was presumably rescued from the sidewalks of Oxford just before all the Miami students moved away for the summer. The coffee tastes like it’s been sitting around all day. It’s acrid, brunt and stale. You’d probably fair better with buying the cheapest instant coffee you can find at a supermarket and drinking that instead. At least it will taste better. The only redeeming value about Kofenya would have been the free Internet access, but during the past couple of times I’ve been there, the Internet has not worked at all. Epic fail! The customer service is so-so — nothing extraordinary. Starbucks definitely has the edge in that regard. Too bad Starbucks wasn’t bigger. Otherwise I’d say that Starbucks would be hands down, the best place for coffee in Oxford. Kofenya isn’t even close.
