Nene’s is a really good compact Filipino market slash Asian grocery store in Oxnard. There are a few Filipino grocery stores in Oxnard(i.e., Sea Breeze Market, Fuwa(one of the oldest and currently closed — I heard it is being replaced with another Asian/Filipino grocery store), and Asian Market(former spot of San Jose Market)), but walking into Nene’s feels a bit homey and familiar. It’s not the biggest. Actually, it’s a pretty small narrow grocery store, but don’t let that fool you. There’s a little bit of everything in here including hard to find vegetables, sauces, and mixes to make your home made pancit, sinigang, adobo, lumpia, kare kare, etc. If you can’t make it to her store, Auntie Nene or her children can usually be found at the Oxnard College Swap meet every Saturday. My family has been buying fresh veggies from her for years at the swapmeet she feels like family. They have the freshest produce/vegetables, fruits and sometimes even Filipino desserts(kakanin), and siopao at their stalls. Definitely stop by either location and say hi if you’re wanting some Filipino food/ingredients from a nice family owned business.

Best Filipino market in Oxnard!!! One stop shop for all your Asian food needs! Just look for Auntie Nene. I was here when the store first opened in 1991 and for a store to be opened for 19 years, now that’s saying something. It’s basically a Filipino landmark in Oxnard. =)
