Underrated. The Coach is consistently good, and I like consistency. Their wine pours are generous and the Coach classic items like the duck and Chicken Santa Barbara are sure bets. Like a good drink? They have some of the best in Oyster Bay. The service is good too.

Local tavern with old world charm Dinner was not what we expected and as we remembered it from the last time we dined there. For a Monday night the restaurant and bar had a buzz but the kitchen was not up to the task. 2 chicken dishes served were cold as were the sides, the duck was dried out and the cherries weren’t going to bring it up to par. Other diners were also sending food back. Just don’t understand why a kitchen would let good get cold and get served at those prices. Wasn’t happy to celebrate, don’t think we will go back, even the coffee was cold, not a good sign.

My husband and I have been to Coach on numerous occasions and have taken friends and family there as well. It’s wonderful — the food, the service, the drinks, the ambience. The steak is as good or better than other much higher-priced steak houses and always cooked to order. A Coach favorite is the Santa Barbara chicken and is one of my favorites as well. The portions are generous and are well-priced. I know that I can take people there without worrying that they won’t like the food or that the service will be bad. For dessert, their homemade ice cream sampler is to die for and is more than adequate for 4. Their drinks are made well(with adequate liquor — no skimping here) and their coffee is always brewed fresh with a bold taste — also served with heavy cream, if requested(a big plus). On the whole, a very pleasant way to spend an evening and a pleasant place to enjoy a good meal with good company.

RECOMMENDED Directions to Coach Grill would be helpful to non-locals since the restaurant, having a residential appearance with signage that is poorly visible from the road when dark, is easy to drive by: Coach Grill would be immediately to your right after you turn left(south) onto Pine Hollow Road(Rt 106). It is the first building south of the Speedway Gas Station. If you’re driving North on 106 and pass the Speedway, you’ve gone too far. Now… on to the review: What mystifies more: that someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder is within spitting distance of the American presidency or that this very good, unpretentious and cozy restaurant does not garner more love and recognition on Unilocal? The moderately lit Coach Grill has valet parking. The restaurant is much smaller than I thought it would be, with a distinct bar area where you walk in and a separated dining room immediately behind. A quirky and awesome mix of 60’s and 70’s music played at the bar, a delight for those, like me, who are 50 plus. The dining room is small but the tables are not situated unpleasantly close. The noise level was reasonable, and the fifteen members who attended a dinner I hosted on 1÷30÷16 were able to converse easily. The bartender was responsive and efficient. Both the Vodka Martini and the Chocolate Martini she prepared me were delicious and stiff. I must note two annoying issues, the responsibility of which lies with management. Though I made a reservation a month prior and confirmed my reservation three hours before my scheduled 7:00 p.m. seating, there was a 20 minute wait for the table and our group was not seated until 7:20 p.m. Appetizers did not arrive until 8:15 p.m.Also, the restaurant ran out of duck and mussels before 8:00 p.m. on a Saturday evening. The absence of duck was a problem for me because I used the expectation of great duck to promote the restaurant and at least one person at my table was very disappointed. I, and many fellow diners, ordered the French Onion Soup. It was very good, perfectly seasoned and not too salty. I had the Roast Duck with Berry Sauce($ 29.00). I ordered it well done because I like crispy skin, not a duck with limp and undercooked skin like I have had at many so called fine restaurants. The duck arrived cooked perfectly in the manner I requested. The skin was crisp and the ample half duck portion, topped with berry sauce, was excellent and delicious. It was one of the best ducks I have eaten on Long Island. The accompanying julienned carrots and green beans were cooked a perfect al dente. The mashed potatoes on the plate were sufficient and tasty. Members also enjoyed the Cod, Filet of Sole and Encrusted Rack of Lamb($ 32.00) entrees. I may have imagined it but I thought I heard orgasmic sounds provoked by the Chocolate Lava Cake dessert. Members also enjoyed the Apple Crisp. Despite the circumstances noted above, I thought our server was pleasant and did a good job. Coach Grill more than delivered on its promise of well presented and reasonably priced excellent American food. I intend to host more dinners there.

We came here for Mother’s Day brunch(made reservations ahead of time through OpenTable). The selection was good and so was the food. The restaurant isn’t that big, but the service is good and we will go back. Definitely try the Lobster Bisque.

This is our go to restaurant in Oyster Bay. I usually get the duck which is delicious. Last night I had a chicken francaise that was parmigiana. It was great. They have several events and special nights throughout the year. If they don’t know you when you come in, you will feel like they do when you leave.

Love the Coach Grill, great Cajun ribeye steak is my perennial favorite but everything on the menu is great. The specials are always creative and delicious and there’s quite a lively bar scene. Great service and friendly owners make the Coach Grill a must go to spot in Oyster Bay!

A frequent stop for lunch — food is always great and staff very friendly. Great place to sit and relax over a good meal. Diverse menu and different offerings than at other pub type places. not just burgers and fries — although they are good as well. The blackened chicken sandwich and turkey melt are unbelievable. Sweet potato bisque was really good as well.

Two words… stuffed artichoke. My husband and i have been going here since we accidentally stumbled upon it 7 years ago. Every single time we go, we are welcomed by a friendly staff, warming environment and incredible food. The staff is always on point, making sure my water is never less than half full. Now the food, oh the glorious magnificent food. I’ve had many many different items on the menu and have never been disappointed.ever. The variety of food and the freshness of the ingredients makes me come back again and again and again… forever and ever.

Yesterday, I stopped by this establishment with my brother and his family. We were celebrating his birthday. I’ve been here several times sampling the amber at the bar so this was our first time eating in the restaurant. We heard so many good things about the food that we decided to find out for ourselves. Boy, were these people right!, the food is excellent. My niece and I had the ‘Chicken Santa Barbara’, my brother had the ‘Rib-Eye Steak’, and my nephew had the ‘Penne ala Vodka’. Every plate was terrific. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. It was such a lousy day outside so this meal really was uplifting. Needless to say that we will come back to eat here more often. Now that I have experienced both the bar and the restaurant I can honestly proclaim that the Coach is a ‘must visit’ destination. Lenny and Russ run a great business and their staff, especially Fayth, are warm and customer focused. If you want excellent food, great service and an intimate, cozy tavern environment, stop by. You will not be disappointed. gk

This is a great place that we visit often. the service is great. the bartenders are friendly and make your drink the way you want it. The food is always good and they try to accommodate whatever you want. The chicken wings are the best around and we often order them to pick up and bring them to parties. The owner is friendly and there all the time. If you don’t mind the bar crowd, we love to eat at the bar or at one of the tables in the bar area. Always a reliable stop for a relaxing and enjoyable meal.

On a snowy friday night we decided to venture out and try another new restaurant for us in the really pleasant town of oyster bay. As we pulled up to the side of the entrance of the restaurant i was at first pleased that there was valet available. But was disappointed when the attendant did not get the door for my girlfriend(nor mine for that manner). However i know I’m old fashioned that way, so i quickly let it go, as I was looking forward to eating some good food after a long week at work. The atmosphere inside is as american as it gets, with the bar and a few tables as soon as you walk in. Thecrowd on a Friday night was rambuncuous and generally loud. We were seated without much delay into a smaller but very pleasant dining room and since it was later, we were given our choice of tables. There were several couples having quiet conversations, so the contrast of the quiet restaurant and the loud bar area was stark. My girlfriend chose to start with the raspberry sangria and although the sangria was not available, they made her an alternate that she found enjoyable. I had a Belvedere martini, and it was served correctly. Olives and up. Having not eaten here before, I wanted to try several of the items on the appetizer menu to get a feel for the overall quality of the food. We ordered in no particular order, the stuffed artichoke, french onion soup, stuffed mushroom caps, and salmon that was«salt cured». All of the food came out at once which was ok, but it might have been nice to space it out just a bit so it was all hot. I didnt request this, however, so i place no fault on our server who was both friendly and courteous. All of the food was very good and if I had to be honest with myself, the cured salmon with dill cucumbers was the best meal followed closely by the soup. The way the soup was presented is as close to the best i have seen outside of Quebec. Well done! The menu promised us the«best stuffed artichoke in the universe», and while it was good, Ive had better in several restaurants here and none better than in Italian restaurants. However, as said before, all the food was really very good. I would certainly have awarded another star, but given the volume of noise coming from the animated bar crowd, I suppose I may adjust this up in the future. Having a noisy crowd is not something I hold the restaurant accountable for, but it certainly contributed to our dining experience. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and would invite friends to come back with us.

I really have to put this back into my regular rotation… After a grueling weekend of work I just wanted to sit on my arse and have an enjoyable meal and the Coach fit the bill perfectly. The stepdaughter came along(she loves a free meal) and we chowed down on some awesome duck and baked clams. Service was great, food was great — and Old Speckled Hen on tap– perfect! Parking: Valet on weekends and the street as well.
