Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library

I spend hours here while studying for grad school. The employees are very friendly and happy to help. It can be loud at times because of younger kids but there is nothing wrong with some life in a library. All in all a great place to relax, grab a new book and turn some pages.

To me, hanging out in the library is like being a kid in a candy store. Surrounded by books, books & more books! Heaven.
Truth be told the OB/​EN Library doesn’t always have the newest releases on hand but that’s only because it’s housed in a really quaint historical building and just doesn’t have the space.
When I can’t find what I want I simply order it online and I usually have it within days.
Yup you read right — I order it online.
OB/​EN Library will then e-​mail a notice to let me know my book is waiting.
The library has set up a site that not only allows to me to peruse the stock on hand but also make lists of the books I want and keeps track of every book I’ve ever borrowed. That has been really helpful when assembling my shelves over at Goodreads.
By the time I’ve done my book hunting in the comfort of my home I am then able to just drop on in and collect the books I want to read. I can even renew a book online.
There is a bank of computers for those who need them and what appears to be an extensive video collection (I have never borrowed a video so I’m only going by what I see).
They also offer kindergarten computer courses, movie nights and an array of other community minded offerings.
On a personal level, the librarian there has proven to be really accommodating & approachable. Once she got a good feel for what I like to read she recommended some books that became, after reading, some of my favorites.
The women who work the check-​out desk are all really friendly & helpful too.
The whole place just has a nice neighborhood feel to it… just like a library should .
I love this place!

Local Library.
I consider myself lucky to have such a well stocked and well manned library in my town.
They usually get the latest books fairly soon after publication and if it is not on the shelf they have a quick and painless set up to request it when it becomes available.
They also have a large selection of movies and audio books as well as a vast array of periodicals.
To round it all out, they maintain a very comprehensive website.
