I was so happy to visit TruBurger because from the outside it looks like a great place. I should have known that a place that is not busy on a Thursday night must be horrible. The décor is quiet charming and inviting, but charms cannot make up for it horrible frozen tasting food. It is obvious that their meat goes from the freezer to the grill. I was sad how distasteful their meals were. Everyone in my party was disappointed with the over-price bad food. They charge for everything, too. Everything has a separate charge so please be warm. The service was also lacking. I do not recommend it.

I love the food here. Always fresh well seasoned and big portions, me and hubby always share a dish. They only get 4 starts due to the fact they don’t have there liquor license and I can’t get drunk

The restaurant was mostly empty and we were seated quickly. The menu is cool and included an insert on burger done-ness with a picture showing what the burger would look like. Ex. Order your burger rare(picture of what rare burger meat looks like), order your burger medium rare(picture of what medium rare burger meat looks like), order your burger medium etc, etc. Our waitress immediately took our order. We both ordered our burgers medium and we were left to wait for the food to arrive. The presentation of the burger was simple but very elegant(to me). It focused on the burger; nothing else was on the plate. I appreciated that. However, BOTH burgers we order were way overcooked. It annoyed the heck out of us. How do you include an insert for your patrons to understand how to order their burgers correctly but your chef doesn’t know how to cook them? Please make sure to have that insert in front of the grill used to cook the burgers. The sweet potato fries were really good(the food was good in general), and the service was great. The live band was super entertaining. The restaurant was clean. The overcooked burgers, I can’t forgive that. You can’t open a restaurant around the love of authentic hamburgers and not know how to cook them. Sorry not sorry.

Adobo burger yuk! We have family in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try, why not? Well«Nicole» took our togo order earlier today. She was rude for no reason, wasn’t paying attention and was snipey when I asked her to repeat my order. Ok I thought, maybe she couldn’t here me. We show up 20 minutes later pay $ 30 for 2 burgers and 1 order of fries or «pomme frites» per their menu. Long and behold its crickets inside, one table is seated. So not sure what the employees problem was. We move on. Well, we have no problem paying for quality food but this it was not! Yes the burger was big but bigger is not always better, especially in this case. Our cheeseburger’s tasted like adobo seasoning yuk! The fries, sorry pomme frites were greasy and undercooked. The bun was to dense especially for such a heavy burger. And they gave us 2 packets of ketchup for our order, 2! I went inside to ask for more and all the employees were standing around bs’ing. Clearly this place has poor management and worse food and service. We read some reviews on here and still decided to give it a try, what a waste of time. And now we both feel sick from this bad tasting food. Do not waste your money, believe the reviews, 2.5 stars out of 100plus reviews. Shame on you truburger. Five guys isnt far fyi…

Really a 3 ½ star restaurant. A bit expensive for drinks — tap beer $ 7-$ 8, soda $ 3.50. The appetizers are actually reasonably priced and pretty good. Burgers are decent — not amazing, but okay… not terribly priced unless you«build your own». The fries I ordered were very good — definitely A+; not greasy and nicely crisped. The décor is very nice, very stylish and clean, a good place for a casual date. The waitstaff and busboys are nice and professional and very attentive to the customers — no complaints there. I think if they run a few specials they might see things pick up for them. The parking lot sucks, not sure wtf is going on there.

I wish I could give this restaurant ZERO stars! My fries came out over cooked and too crispy. I wasn’t going to complain; however, the manager, Nina, came over to inquire about the fries/meal. She reached over my burger to grab a fry with her bare hand to taste it! Who, where and why would a MANAGER do that?! I told her I would NOT be eating anymore of the fries and her explanation was that she needed to taste them to inform the cook?! This can’t be life. Please don’t visit this establishment. #Gross

Finally a burger spot in the neighborhood buttttt there are a few things they need to work on… I ordered take out. I placed the order over the phone and it was ready in 20 min as promised. The girl who answered the call and took the order was very polite. I ordered the Top Burner with a turkey patty instead. That burger was superrr packed with flavor. The grilled jalapeño peppers on top of the patty brought a major kick. The cilantro aioli is everywhere and messy. The bun was not toasted so it got soggy very quickly. The patty looked too cookie cutter to be made in house. But with all that said, it was spicy and delicious!!! I ordered a side of «hand cut» sweet potato fries. Those fries were definitely frozen and not cut in house. Too bad because it’s not worth getting again. It also lacked seasoning. I asked for chipotle aioli on the side(extra charge). I know it’s mayo based but it was just too much mayo and not enough chipotle… It would probably go better in a sandwich. It is pricey as just a burger, fries, and chipotle mayo cost $ 20. In all… Good gourmet burgers(ask for a toasted bun). Frozen ‘hand cut’ fries. Pricey.

Burger place that is in a small shopping plaza right off of Cross Bay Blvd. my first time there and I only did a pick up order. Painless. I placed my order over the phone and it was ready 20 minutes later. There was a band playing when I went to the restaurant. They were tucked into a space to the right as soon as you walk by the front waiting area. There were probably two dozen or so tables with a bar as well. There were some high top tables mixed in as well. The staff seemed very nice and polite. You have an option here on creating your own burger which I did. I added a fried egg, jack cheese, jalapeños, and sautéed onions. I also got the loaded truffle fries which had cheese, bacon and ranch. My wife had the Butcher’s Burger which was also good. I didn’t try them but they also had shakes as well. I will be back for sure. Parking is a shared lot with the other businesses in the shopping plaza. It’s very limited space. There is street parking close by but you may have to walk a few blocks.

I was curious about this place having driven past it countless times and it certainly disappointed. But let me start with the good. The ambience is pleasant. Dark but warm. Modern rustic and they even have a live band that played. I’m not sure if this is every night as I visited on Cinco de Mayo. That’s about all that was good about it. Looking at the menu the first thing that jumped out at me is that EVERYTHING had a charge. The burgers are decently priced if you order one of their signature. If you don’t, however, it is $ 1.25 for each topping. My burger had four toppings and came out to about $ 15 which isn’t terrible. The burger doesn’t come with fries, so you have to pay for that. The burger also doesn’t come with any sauces. You have to pay for that too. They clearly encourage you to buy their wines and beers but we just had sodas, which were $ 3.50 each. We didn’t get refills but they would have probably had a price too. This kind of nickel and diming to me isn’t about the money more so as a ploy to squeeze as much money as possible from the consumer. Our bill was not high but I wouldn’t have been so offended if certain items were included with my meal. By the end I was expecting there to be a charge for napkins and cutlery too(thankfully there wasn’t). For appetizers, we had fried pickles and mac and cheese bites. The fried pickles were amateur. Extremely greasy and all we tasted was the harsh vinegar taste. Any chef worth his salt would know what to add to the batter to cut the strong acidic flavor(sugar) but it was a mouthful of grease and vinegar. The mac and cheese bites were OK but really lacked any flavor. The burgers were cooked perfectly but were virtually tasteless. Salt and pepper on the meat would have made a huge difference but even that was missing. All I really tasted was the toppings. It’s a really big shame because it looks very clean and classy. It’s easy to get to and has a parking lot. Would I go back? Absolutely not. And neither should you.

Very nice place, well done with accommodations… burgers are very good, clean and not greasy, had an excellent avocado egg roll to start and just your basic BBQ burger… very good. Staff is friendly. Price’s are good. been to truburger about 5 times and I find it pretty consistent, only critique would be to get some shades… a SUNY day could be quite blinding by the window area.

Wow this is the 3rd string of messages from Joelle S. who allegedly has no personal interest in Truburger. What’s so laughable is that this person clearly does not understand the legal system at all. This is Unilocal, I’m entitled to post my opinion!!! I really hope that this Joelle S. person stops sending me messages. I have reported the person to Unilocal, every message has been sent. Joelle S. keeps messaging me, yet now is asking me to stop. HAHAHA, if you can’t handle my responses to you then you should stop! I didn’t post any lies about the business, there were 11 people in our dinner party that evening that experienced the exact same thing that I did and they can absolutely write reviews to reflect their experiences as well. I have never attacked the business, I posted about my experience and Joelle S. attacked me via messages. Let’s look into Joelle S.‘s reviews by the way, there is only 1 review and of course it’s for Truburger. That’s interesting. Threatening me with lawsuit, I cannot stop laughing!!! So here’s the last message that they wanted me to post: «Thank you for sending a message to me and documenting that you think ruining someone’s reputation if laughable to you. I will forward that to the restaurant owner. Furthermore at this point this is pure slander. Please refrain from contacting me as your unbearable actions and unlawful conduct is now harassment. You continue to post my messages, that proves you want to bring more attention and you are working very hard to spread lies and try to damage this business. A lawsuit to protect their reputation is exactly what you should get. Truburger is a great restaurant and someone like you with no food experience posts untruthful negative reviews, your reviews have no merit considering the source it’s coming from. You continue to Post only what you want to be seen. As for attacking the business for my opinion now that’s laughable! Truburger is doing extremely well regardless of your lies. You need reservations on weekends. That speaks volumes a lot more than your nonsense post. Please do not contact me moving forward. Oh and Thanks in advance for posting.» Hahaha, this is amazing! I just received another message from Joelle S. after I responded to the message that was sent to me and advised that I reported the message to Unilocal.Seriously, what is going on with this business that they have this person speaking for them in this manner?! Here’s the newest message I received from Joelle S.: «Thank you for reporting me to Unilocal.Once again get your facts straight it’s not my business as you assume. Thank You for posting my message as well I was able to publicly respond to your review that’s why I messaged you. „My unprofessional behavior will not be tolerated“ are you kidding? Your defamation of character is not only illegal and will not be tolerated. I will advise this restaurant to pursue this legally with you personally. Unilocal can’t stop you being sued for defamation of character and lies. Please post this as well. Thank You!» This was the first update that I submitted when the Joelle S. person sent me the first message. I had to update with the newest message threatening me with a lawsuit!!! I just got a personal message on Unilocal from Joelle S. and it seems like at least one other reviewer also received a message from that person as well. Here is the message: «They don’t have a liquor license yet. If you know anything about the food industry you would know that it is very common to wait for a liquor license. The place is amazing great service, great food amazing ambience. Maybe your a fast food type of girl.» Read my review accurately and please tell me why our group had to eat dinner at separate times even though we sat at the same table. I reported this person to Unilocal.Horrible business practices if you are having people reach out to reviewers with negative comments. How about you learn from the reviews and fix your problems!!!

I would say this place is starting to come into its own, and trying to figure out its identity. The burgers are very good, and I would recommend sticking with the burgers. My friend ate the minestrone and it was more of a vegetable, with a dull taste, so stick with the burger. The staff I feel is learning their surroundings, and need a little more confidence but they’re very nice and helpful. All and all I would recommend for the burgers, and fries.

Absolutely disgusted– This Truburger location recently opened up close to my house and I hadn’t had the opportunity to try them out yet. Craving a turkey burger, my husband went to Truburger to pick up the turkey burger with loaded fries for me. By the time he drove the 5 minutes back to home; everything was soggy and gross already. I still attempted to eat the burger and it was RAW! It smelled of pure, uncooked meat and was raw! I mean, are you kidding me??? $ 20 for food I had to throw right into the trash? When I called to speak to someone, they were rude and wouldn’t refund me or do anything about it and then hung up. So much for customer service! The Truburger employees are SO lucky I JUST had a baby and couldn’t drive down there to deal with them myself. I will definitely be reporting them to the BBB and the health department. Disgusting!

This review is purely for takeout. My family went to takeout burgers. The service was friendly and quick. There are several options to choose from including pre made burgers and burgers you can customize your own way. I decided on the burger with avocado and blue cheese aioli. It was cooked just right the way I wanted it at medium well. The burger is a good size to fill you up. I honestly didn’t need fries or any other side. The burger was enough. Hopefully they continue to work on improving service based on the other reviews. It seems like a good addition to the area for a place to sit down or to take a meal out.

I have been waiting for this place to open since forever! Its been a highly anticipated location for the neighborhood and its walking distance for me. Finally the wifey and I were able to stroll over after seeing bad review after bad review we were a bit weary but still were gonna give it a shot. I actually went once real quick during my lunch break and took a burger to-go and It was decent but I know it would’ve been better in house so it wasn’t fair to give it a review based on that. Service: The hostess wasn’t the friendliest in the world(after doing so many reviews I come to pay attention to every part of visiting any place and take notes in my head) there was a number of points off the checklist she missed but mainly no being more gracious but I digress. The waitress was adequately accommodating friendly but not exactly having full knowledge of the menu which shouldn’t happen. My girl wanted a burger with the Chipotle Aioli and she didn’t know which one had one, then I asked if the burger I wanted had grilled onions she said yes I said YOUSURE? She’s like YESSS and guess what they weren’t smh that just speaks to lack of leadership. Food: I asked for my burger to be medium-well and they hit a bulls-eye, it was perfectly done to my taste so no complaints there only praise. The bun was way to big but that seems to be a common problem with burger places, if they make the bun too big its a problem and when they make it too small the burger will just fall apart and have a bad experience so I guess going big is the lesser of two evils so why not go BIG. For a place that has beautiful décor and is an official burger spot, you would think they could make the burger’s side-kick in house. These FRIES are not hand-cut fries as said on the menu! anyone can tell fresh made and frozen bought fries and these were VERYAPPARENT, wish they could remedy that for themselves because these fries were same as any regular diner from around the corner and we have enough of those in this neighborhood. Cant Complain bout the brownie milkshake which was top notch, not too sweet or too heavy and nice fat brownie inside so two thumbs up. Overall there seemed to be a lack leadership in the place in general, over staffed and just a bunch of employees running around without a lot of direction. I gather to think this place was started by one person who isn’t around much and the people put in place don’t have any skin in the game, so don’t care as much as an owner would of a brand new establishment that has a unique concept in a prime location. I guess they opened in a hurry because they didn’t even wait for a liquor license which would help their bottom line as well as letting people leave buzzed and happier bout their experience overall since it opened the reviews have been just simply bad. Not just on Unilocal I have many friends in the area and when brought up at my last poker game first comment was The Place Is Garbage! I can’t complain too much my burger was great so that saved them and as far as the burger I had to go was very good too, so hopefully they improve! Good Luck Truburger, I’ll be back to try different burgers since you are basically across the street from me!

I kept passing by Crossbay Boulevard and waiting for this place to open, it’s really close to home and in a place where it’s mostly Italian food or Sushi restaurants I was looking forward to a burger joint in the area. As soon as they opened I kept seeing this place full. Which I don’t understand the bad reviews that people keep giving Truburger when it’s always packed. The boyfriend and I decided to come here this past Sunday evening after deciding not to cook dinner. After reading all the bad reviews I was hesitant to try it out but as one who used to be a waitress and worked in new restaurants I didn’t let that bother me. I know the struggle of working at a grand opening and after you think you have everything to start attending tables; you forgot to order the napkins for the restaurant. As soon as we enter we told the lady table for 2 and we were seated within seconds, I was not impressed by her. She did not introduce herself and she just dropped the menus in the middle of the table and went back to the front. Like I said before I have worked in the restaurant business before and that is not a way to leave an impression to a potential regular customer ESPECIALLY since you just opened. You are supposed to introduce yourself say follow me and when taking the customers to the table you place the menus in front of them after being seated and tell them«such and such is going to be your server and he or she will be with you shortly». Later on I saw her approaching a server as soon as she approached to attend their table which is another big no-no. Food: I got the chicken sandwich because I couldn’t make up my mind in which burger to get and I really wanted to try their chipotle aioli and since they didn’t have it in any of their burgers I told the server to please add it to my chicken sandwich, they gave me the chipotle aioli on the side which they charged me $ 1.50 for it and the server did not mention this surcharge what so ever, another big no-no. I asked for it on the sandwich and it was placed on the side and you charge me for it without saying something about it, you always mention this to the customer so they won’t be surprised and call you to the table to ask about it which will take time from you to attend the other tables if you did this in the first place. My boyfriend told her what’s up with all the negative reviews on Unilocal about this place and she answers«I don’t know but I know those bad reviews are not my customers and who has time to time to be writing reviews anyways». You don’t say these things to customers especially since you have no idea if the person you are attending the table is a food critic writing a review in the local paper or is a secret shopper hired by your company. I just nodded and went back to my sandwich which was good and it should really be with the chipotle aioli instead of the other condiment they have it with. Besides all of this I was satisfied with my sandwich and the boyfriend was content with his burger. Would we be coming back? Maybe it depends if when the new Asian Fusion spot 2 stores down finally opens and its better and if we don’t want to cook dinner. All in all the food was good, they just need to keep working on the customer service and maybe go into more training or hiring an experience staff. The décor is beyond amazing, it doesn’t feel like you are in South Queens but it has a vibe like you are in Astoria. Maybe that’s why this place needs improvement, it’s because they focused more on the look then the actual dining experience.

***UPDATE hi everyone. My friend just informed me this establishment has no health grade inspection. FORALLTHOSEOFYOUTHATHAVEBEENSERVEDRAWBURGERS, PLEASEREPORTTHISPLACETOTHENYCDEPOFHEALTHSONOONEELSEGETS I’LLDUETOTHEIRINCOMPETENCE Here’s the link : I tried so hard to give this place a chance. I tried even harder to be understanding in regards to them just opening, but my second visit here was horrific… and no, it has nothing to do with the wait staff as so many other have been complaining about. First, I really enjoyed the Nutella shake I had here last time(which was chocolate, makes sense since Nutella is chocolate). I re-ordered it and got some vanilla monstrosity. The waitress told me that last time they must have run out of vanilla and made it with chocolate and she’s check to see if they could do it again. Management said they can’t substitute the chocolate and do it again for me… Yet they can when they decide it’s ok and not tell customers? Makes no sense, right? I tried not to let that get me down and picked an order and appetizer. The appetizer I had(potato pockets) were basically potato ravioli. They were good, but nothing to write home about. Then came the deciding factor for me– the burger. Like others on here, my burger was cold and raw in the middle. It’s as if they took out a frozen patty and seared the outside for 2 minutes without regarding the inside. It’s one thing to be assholes about something as menial as a milkshake, but when you completely disregard the health of your customers by not caring about the quality of meat you are serving and how it is prepared is another thing. Food poisoning is not a game and this place needs to recognize that. I doubt I will give this place any more tries… If I do, it’ll be for easy garbage like french fries where I won’t endanger my health… I hope the health department takes a look at this place soon.

I’ve been driving past the location for Truburger for about two months, anxiously waiting for them to open their doors and bless us with delicious(veggie) burgers and fries. Needless to say, my expectations were very high. This would be the first«real» burger place on this side of the neighborhood, and the site seemed promising. I finally passed by the location today and, to my surprise, I saw people sitting by the windows! I immediately called up my husband to tell him the restaurant had opened and we visited the establishment for lunch. Upon waking in, we noticed that the restaurant is looking to portray an industrial/lodge feel, and their décor includes accents like exposed brick walls, exposed beams, and lots of wooden furniture. The bathrooms were large and had beautifully textured accent walls. Overall, the restaurant looked very clean and streamlined. A waiter informed us that today was the«Soft-Opening» and already they had many customers. On to the food. Truburger offers a large selection of crafted burgers, and they also provide the option of creating your own. They have several different types of fries(truffle, sweet potato, loaded); however, the fries are not included with your burger order. My husband ordered the Adana burger($ 11.95). This burger includes a lamb patty, Feta cheese, and fresh dill aioli. He also ordered a Banana-Strawberry Bliss shake($ 6.50). He expressed that both the burger and the shake were very good. He added that the burger was juicy and the sharp feta cheese provided a nice touch to the rest of the meal. The shake was thick and creamy, but could’ve used a bit more fruit flavor. I ordered sweet potato fries($ 4.50), as there were no full-sized veggie burger entrée options. The fries were long, crunchy, and pleasantly sweet. They paired beautifully with the truffle aioli and some good ol’ Heinz ketchup. Our bill total was $ 26.35(plus tip) for a burger, fries, and a shake. Truburger seems like a great burger place. The food tastes gourmet and hand-crafted, which makes for a memorable meal. I think the prices are a bit steep for the neighborhood, though. I wish that the size of the food would correlate with the price. Otherwise, delicious food!
