Great location with a glass windows overlooking the ocean. Live band on the weekend. Nice cozy venue. Easy parking.

Oh woman working this last Saturday around 1pm… The question you asked me was so simple and delivered so beautifully… That question you asked is one that no other Chit Chat employee has… Undecided if you were sincere, I paused… With an angelic gaze you repeated, «how are you?» Know that the remainder of my weekend was spectacular and you deserve credit for inadvertently creating the catalyst for the positive energy that ensued. **If you are single, know that I am too If you are emotionally unavailable … Remind him you have admirers…

A double-shot americano is not supposed to be twice as watery as coffee. I was going to buy two more espresso shots to add to my beverage to it to make it an americano. Nobody in line, nothing going on and I’m greeted with«she’ll be back in a minute» as the older asian woman pointed at the back door. Scew this, and left.

This is my all time coffee house to get drip coffee. Also their hot home made reuben and chicken teriyaki sandwiches are wonderful. I also delve into their italian sodas. The sandwiches come with a small bag of chips. They have free wifi for the beatniks and a stunning ocean view-across the street. The owners like to party and have live music at least twice a week-no cover. The only problem with this place is that the owners will not raise their prices, you can still get a $ 1.75 cup of coffee. I guess they are closet socialists or they just like to party! The family that owns it all work regular shifts. James C

Once a month I stop by to listen to a band the Chit-Chat showcases. As a member of the band is someone I’ve known for over 45 years, it gives me reason to stop by. I don’t go there for the food, but as I’m a fan of pastrami sandwiches and the ones I’ve ordered(been there three times now) were done just right, it gives me reason to rate the Chit-Chat with high marks. I give five stars if(1) the food is better than palatable,(2) if the service I experience is what I expect and(3) if there are special considerations. Let’s just say it’s hard to ruin a simple pastrami sandwich(it wasn’t), I think I’ve become a regular as my sandwich was made the way I like it and was presented with a smile. And finally, they have live entertainment. I usually get there by 7pm and leave around 9:30pm…always leave satisfied with the experience.

Horrible service. 1 person working on a weekend. Took 30 minutes for 2 mochas and a pastrami sandwich. The batista has no personality at all. Definitely not the coffee shop experience you want. You’re better off ordering drive thru at mcdonalds. The place is dingy and dirty. Disappointing.

My latte’s are always yummy and my mazzettis bagel or croissant are always perfect… But lately I wanted to get an early start, so I went and waited at 5:30… 5:45… 6… nothing. This is not my regular time and I should have known better after the first time this happened, but I still gave the benefit of doubt. 6:05AM and nobody opened the doors so I left. I love this Café, but c’mon guys, get it together. My roommate, who used to practically live here with his quad espressos, now goes to the new Starbucks daily at 5:30 am, and now I know why :(

Terrible… The younger(lady) is rude, very rude to all of the customers. We sat in disbelief watching how she talked to all the customers. Lady, you need to take a course in professional mannerisms. It’s not even that great of food but the view would have made it worth coming back for. After the way she treated us, we won’t be back. The older lady seems very nice. Almost like she is trying to make up for the other one. Or maybe she is just a nice person. If you are going to put mayo and mustard on a hot chicken sandwich, tell us ahead of time or list it with all the other ingredients on your board.

Easy going place, at the corner of a shopping center. Next to beach. Large windows to watch waves. Games and books available to enjoy. Happy place.

This place has so much potential. If only they would remodel it and clean up the filthy restroom; it could be a spectacular place and their business would improve tremendously. The food and service here are marginal. They often have live music during the day on the weekends which is very good.

Coffee, live music, and a view. What more can you ask for? This is a small, local café right by the water. Many locals come here and everyone seemed to know everyone. We came on a Sunday morning and there was a live jazz band playing. It was fun to listen to them and sip on some coffee. I love that even though it’s a small place, the music wasn’t too loud and you could still have conversations. There’s plenty of seating and a nice place to sit and get work done or catch up with a friend. I got the cappuccino and shared the pulled pork sandwich with my friend. Both were good, but nothing to write home about. I think this is a nice local’s joint.

There are two locations for Chit-Chat Café: one by the Pier and the other by Manor Drive behind Safeway store. This location is the latter. There may be some confusion as I see some of the photos posted for this location are actually for the other location. Oh well, that’s just me being anal. Now that’s out of the way, let’s talk a lil’ about this place. It’s a nice, charming coffee shop with an old time vibe to it. The people that frequent this place appear to know each other and have a community feel about it. Its several yards away from the edge of the cliff, and you have an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. The view of the ocean would be a lot nicer if it doesn’t have that cyclone fence around it, but I’m not knocking this place because it has nothing to do about this place. Let’s make that loud and clear. Besides, that fence is there for safety reasons as it’s just a matter of time before the sea claims that portion of land. Aside from coffee, they also serve hot cocoa, tea, Italian Soda, sandwiches and pastries — which I have yet to try. On certain days, I think they also have bands playing here, so it really has that small town community feel going for it. The coffee is priced very decent and their coffee is pretty good. I usually order the Soy Latte and although it could be a lot creamier and robust, it does the trick. They have plenty of tables and chairs and includes free Wi-Fi so you can work or surf on your laptop or portable electronic devices and be anti-social, or choose to interact with the nice people around you. All in all, a nice relaxing place with a view of the Pacific and occasional local«bands» playing music ain’t too shabby of an experience for a cup of Joe. Solid 3 ½ stars.

So many mixed feelings about this place. I come here quite often, semi-regularly, in a cyclical way. It’s a great place to get my work done, free wi-fi, a nice, solid selection of bagels/sandwiches, plus decent coffee. The people who frequent this place are characters –typical beach town vibe. All around, a laid back, easy going vibe, no one will kick you out for being at one seat for too long. The folks behind the counter have always been very nice. But it’s hot as hell in this place. It’s like a sauna, every single time. Even when the windows or door is open it’s still very warm. It can be a bit uncomfortable. Also, there are these little gnats/fruit flies that hang around. If they could hang a few of of those fly strips that would be most awesome instead of trying to periodically slap one out of my face.

I’ve been here several times already. And for most parts, to get some studying done. I’m really liking this place. Easy parking, oceans views!!!, tables and chairs with free wifi. I get bagel and coffee and stay for a couple hours. It always worries me that I’m here for a long time but nobody has tired kick me out yet. Until then, I’ll enjoy the background music and focus on what I came here to do. I hear they do music performances here as well. I’ll check that out with my friends next time.

It’s not about the food, people. It’s about the kitsch and the«throwback» feel of the place, and the packed house on a Saturday mid-afternoon, singing their hearts out to old Beatles tunes. We’d been to Mazetti’s up the street for great coffee and pastries. Walking toward the beach, we happened upon the Chit Chat and heard music inside. Yes, it lured us in — still carrying a Mazetti’s coffee, we worked our way through the crowd to find a couple of seats. Not a single thing about the Chit Chat would make me want to eat there. But I’ll be back for the crowd, the music, or just to hang out for a while.

I was having, let’s say, a mediocre Thursday filled with struggles with GPS and a disappointing brewery(a factory, really, but that’s a story for a different day). Then, driving down Route 1 I spotted an epic pier from the distance, suggesting to my friend and then-chauffeur Alex that we stop there. With incredible ease, Alex guided his dependable Chevy Sonic off the highways, hugging a left onto beach ave and towards the pier. Our spontaneous detour landed us face to face with the Chit Chat Café, which we quickly passed in favor of the adjacent pier we were destined for. After a few bites of all too spicy guac, a gaze out into the water brought us face to face with a majestic beast. A whale, gracefully breaching the ocean’s crests and, at least twice, popping it’s mouth out of the water to gobble up some fishies. It’s a moment that will be forever etched in my memory. One that Instagram, YouTube or Vine could never do justice to. After some time, we went into the Chit Chat. Alex got a coffee and I got some postcards. Then we carried on our way.

Came here because I needed some wifi to work. I ordered a regular coffee and it tasted pretty bland and a little watered down. The counter gal was not mean however she wasn’t very friendly either. I couldn’t rate them on the food since I didn’t order any. I sat down next to the window opened my laptop and did some work and enjoyed the phenomenal sunset. It’s an extremely chill and quaint kind of vibe in here and I do like the fact that they have some cute couches and nice seat cushions towards the back. Aside from the ok service I’m impressed with how beautiful the view is. It created an extremely peaceful and relaxing feel which allowed me to concentrate and plug through my work fairly quickly. I will definitely come back again and try their food and other coffee drinks.

I like hanging out here whenever they have a live band playing. All are local musicians and everybody are having a great time listening and dancing to music both for old and young.
