We love this spot! Delicious pizza made with organic ingredients! Super delicious. And Paia is a cool town. We like the herb and cheese and the Mopsy Kalua Pork the best. Although the other options are delicious as well. It’s definitely a good choice if you are in Paia.

Came here last night for the first time. Always drive by it every trip I make to the island. No regrets on eating here! Ordered the organic green salad with goat cheese, so fresh and delightful. Crisp greens, light dressing with the perfect small amount of sweetness, and creamy goat cheese from the local farm up by Kula. Also ordered a large flatbread, half pesto half pepperoni mushroom. One of the BEST flatbreads I’ve had in a verrrrry long time. Ingredients are fresh and none over power the other. Pepperoni was definitely high quality, not the typical crap most places have. Great tap beer selection! Last but far not least, our server really pleasantly surprised me. Shawna was not only one of the most sweetest servers I’ve come across in years(keep in mind I’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 13 years) but she was very informative on the menu without a stutter. Great girl.

First and foremost, you’re in flipping Maui within a short walk of one of the biggest and world famous surf breaks on the planet! On top of that, there is some exceptional flatbread pizza(as the name would imply) right in the heart of Paia. The barbecued pork pizza is worth the drive, which usually includes a two mile wait in all three directions for Paia’s sole stop light. Be prepared to order your favorite refreshment when you sit down as it gets very warm inside the restaurant due to the brick oven and the climate, naturally. Parking is a nightmare unless you figure your way into the secret lot behind Charley’s, east of Baldwin Ave on Hana Highway. If barbecued pork is not your thing(and I feel very sorry for you if that is your own self inflicted predicament) there really is something on the menu for everyone, kids included. So grab your favorite Kona Brewing Company brew and settle in for some awesome flatbread pizza!

We had lunch here and were very impressed. The organic salad with goat cheese on the side was probably the best salad we’ve had on our trip to Maui. Flatbread pizza was also top-notch and cooked in a Kiawe wood fired oven. It is a very Thin crust pizza that has some crunch to it. I think personally it is best to order one without a lot of toppings. Kudos to management on a well run restaurant with great food.

Awesome awesome hangout. Staff is friendly, good service, no wait and food is great. You cannot have a better meaning of fresh. I had a salad and a half mushrm/pepperoni and half vegan pizza. First off, i give them props for using local food. My salad was amazingly crisp with quality greens. And i saw my pizza get cooked in the oven. Thin crust n good portion of toppings on both sides. I thought it could use a bit of salt but hey, it’s right in front of you on the table. Im also not vegan so the vegan side was missing mozzarella from your classic margharita pie. But luckily, everything is customizable cuz it’s made right in front of you. And for something made on the spot, the wait was not long at all. Would definitely recommend.

Came here with my wife after nearly escaping death on the Hana Highway’s flash flood of the century. Needless to say we were drenched in pouring rain, high on adrenaline and super hungry. We arrived at Flatbread and were instantly warmed by the fire of the pizza oven. The staff was super friendly and the pizza dude was dancing along to the music playing in the restaurant which was fun to watch lol. The flatbread pizza was so bomb and on par with some of the best pizzas I’ve tried of yet. The flavor, the texture of the crust, everything — spot on. If you’re in Paia and are hungry for pizza or good food in general, this is the spot.

Flatbread never fails me. The staff is always so friendly and inviting and the food and drinks are awesome as well. It’s a bit crowded at times but the most you’ll have to wait is 30 minutes tops to get seated. The service is always so awesome and the food gets to the table at a decent time considering how much people gather here everyday. I’m a very big fan of the ever popular«Mopsy» Kalua pork pizza. I love it so much I think I can eat a whole 16 inch by myself and still want more. Now, I don’t really like pineapple on my pizza(or goat cheese for that matter) but it really brings the Mopsy together. They’ve always been so on point with how they bring different flavors together. If you like Kalua pork, you’ll love the Mopsy. I ate here recently with my boyfriend who loves the Mopsy as well, but always insists that we get half of something else and he really wanted to try the Carne Special for the week which was chili con carne. House made tomato sauce, ground beef, beans and sour cream and onions on top… Can that really be a pizza?! I think the question is, can it really be a pizza and still taste good? And the answer is YES! I’m not surprised because like I said, they’ve always been on point with bringing different flavors together. Also, I’m always on the hunt for a good mango juice(I’m obsessed) and they have one of the best. Flatbread has definitely won my heart. If I could eat here everyday I definitely would. It’s the best and I would definitely recommend it.

Wait: No reservations but you can call ahead! Food/Service: It was our first time and my girlfriend and I got a 16inch pizza, and we were lucky enough to get half pesto and half mopsy :] Our waitress was so nice and made our eating experience enjoyable. Parking: Street parking is limited. Price: Reasonable

This pizza was amazing! We ordered the BBQ Chicken, the Mopsy’s Kalua Pork and their salad. The pizza was so fresh and the crust was delicious. Would fly out to Maui again just for this food. The service was quick, helpful and friendly. The environment was fun and you could tell that the company cared about the community. Definitely a must if you are in the area. We visited a second time and ordered the Mopsy pork and the Carne special(some sort of Mexican toppings on the flatbread — beans, corn, sour cream). It was just as delicious as the first time we visited — so flavorful. The best part? Leaving feeling stuffed but light. Don’t you hate when you have over indulged in pizza and you feel greasy, fat and heavy? This pizza fills you up but is very fresh.

Tried their pepperoni and fennel sausage pie. Really great heat on the pepperoni. The sausage was a crumble type, a bit of a surprise. The only thing missing from the pizza was the sauce. They go very light on the sauce, which makes the pie a bit too dry. It was also quite warm in the restaurant since they have no air conditioning. Great service!

Delicious! The place is located in Paia which is kind of a funky cute little town located on Hana highway. The restaurant itself is very eccentric with your typical organic, local homegrown vibe. The service was quick and amazing and the pizza was even better! Probably some of the best I’ve had… and I hail from NYC! You could tell the ingredients were grown nearby. Only con: that place is HOT! No AC and a wood burning stove going constantly. Be prepared to sweat for your meal!

This place was ok, the waitress made me plantation iced tea and it is my fav/Hubby had Ginger beer and loved it. We had some pizza. The organic and grass fed food was on the menu, but the pepperoni was awful brown looking. Huband had a pizza with barbeque and cole slaw on it, he liked it. I don’t know if I am getting really picky, but am finding eating on Maui to be a non-enjoyable experience. The food is average, always overpriced and always bland. Of note: son says the urinal in the mens room is very high, he is 5’10 and if he thinks it is high, what about young children? LOL

I’m not sure what the big hype about this place is? Maybe its the best pizza joint in Paia? I’m from California and we have lots of pizza places around so maybe I just have to much to compare it to? We ordered take out, so I cannot comment on the dining experience. The actual dough/crust of the pizza was really good but the pizza itself is just okay. They don’t have a Hawaiian pizza which is my favorite! How does a pizza place not have Hawaiian? Especially when your in Hawaii? Lol anyways, the guy was nice enough to create one for us that was pretty decent. The guy that helped me out on the phone was really accommodating and helpful with educating me on the style pizza they offer and how they cut it up and all that. It’s not cut like regular pizza but rather like a crosshatch pattern where you have a bunch of rectangles. It was $ 60 for 2 large pizzas, that’s a little steep for pizza! They also only offer 2 sizes: large and small.

The fam bam and I came to The Flatbread Company at the end of our long drive back from Hana. It was the middle of the day, and we were starving, so I was eager to try this spot based on all the great Unilocal reviews. Street parking in front of the restaurant is almost non existent so we parked across the street and about a block down in a public lot. Since it was an odd time of the day, we lucked out and there was no wait to be seated. The inside of the restaurant is rather large compared to other places in Hawaii, and there is a nice small bar area up front. The pizza oven is inside the restaurant which is great because you can watch your pizza being made, but what’s not great about it is there is NO air conditioning inside and very few fans. We were SOHOT. Not very relaxing after such a long day. Also kills my urge to have a beer when I’m sweating up a storm. Anyways, service was friendly and the pizza was great! Do allow some time for it to come out. My Husband and his Son split a large Kalua Pork Pizza which they instantly devoured and said was amazing! My Stepdaughter and I split a large pizza with her half being a Margherita Pizza and my half a Vegetarian Daily Special which has potatoes, garlic, spinach, etc. Both halves were super good and I would definitely order them again. I would recommend this place to others and come back again when in Paia! Next time I would sit up front at the bar so that I could sample their small but impressive drink selection.

We had a few hours to kill after dropping family off at the Kahalui airport and before returning for our own flight home from Maui. We remembered driving through a cute beach town just north of the airport on our way home from the road to Hana. We headed north and found Paia just a 15 minute drive from the airport. We weren’t planning on eating because we were in between meals but after walking past Flatbread and catching a peek at the wood fired oven we couldn’t resist stopping in to share a small pizza. My sister-in-law went with the house salad and added roasted beets at our server’s seasonal recommendation. We chose the Punctuated Equilibrium flatbread and asked for sides of red sauce and extra Parmesan/olive oil(extra sauces are free)! Our flatbread was awesome and didn’t even even have any meat on it. The Kalamata Olives gave it great flavor and I love that their shaker of parm is filled with real crumbled cheese and not the typical grated Parmesan. Considering most ingredients are sourced locally and organic when possible, the prices are fair($ 13 for a 12-inch). I can’t complain about the lack of air conditioning(although my pregnant self was sweating from the first bite) because they pride themselves on using less electricity. Their food fired oven and cauldron for sauces use no power. I don’t give five star reviews often but this place was simply great and I wish I lived closer!

My husband could not WAIT to bring me here. He loves it. And after my first time, so do I! I have tried a lot of pizza. We all have. and I have never tried as FRESH of herbs and spices on a pizza as I have here. Absolutely amazing and refreshing. I’ve had so much bad pizza lately, I was beginning to wonder if I was just losing my taste for it. I’m glad to find, that this is not the case :) Everything is ORGANIC, bonus! They have salad that comes with starter ingredients, upon which you can build from. Perfect for 2 to share. We added blue cheese, though they also offer their own blend of Maui goat cheeses. 3 beers on tap, one from Stone, 2 from Maui Brewing Company. I got their special, the 808 Crystal Wheat Beer from MBC. It was light enough to accompany a full meal, but the flavor had depth. Perfect. I would go again. And again and again!

Flatbread does a lot of good for the Maui community by hosting non-profit organizations and donating a percentage of sales to them on certain nights; a rarity these days. The menu theme is free-range, natural, organic, and hippie-like. LOCATION: On Hana Highway near the corner of Baldwin Avenue, north side. ATMOSPHERE: Busy, loud, energetic. The pizza oven is up front near some tables and can be uncomfortably hot if you’re seated near as this place has no a/c. It’s fun to watch the pizzas being cooked but I’d avoid sitting near there. A small bar is off to the side. The back room seating area has a mosquito problem especially at the tables near the windows due to heavy foliage and possibly unseen standing water? Upstairs is a nice cozy option with a few tables and is quieter. Seating is a mix of bar seating, high tops, regular seats, booths, and big picnic-style tables for large parties/groups. FOOD: No Boundaries Salad — Lettuce with shredded papaya and carrots tossed in a pineapple vinaigrette dressing. I’m not a pineapple fan but love the dressing! Got mine loaded with kalamata olives, red bells, mushrooms, sun-dried & regular tomatoes, avocado, rosemary, and Parmesan cheese. Delish! Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza — My favorite pie. Simply topped with tomato sauce, pepperoni & mushrooms with mozzarella & Parmesan cheese. The greatest tasting combo! Flatbread for all pizzas are thin, crunchy & chewy. Coevolution Pizza — My second fave. Goat cheese, kalamata olives, cheese, sun-dried tomatoes & rosemary. Add tomato sauce for extra flavor. Homemade Sausage Pizza — My third fave pizza. Sausage, mushrooms, onions, and mozzarella. Again, add tomato sauce for extra flavor. Broccoli & Potato Pizza(special of the night) — Broccoli, potatoes, cheddar, mozzarella & parmesean cheeses and herbs. Good but not the greatest as potatoes on a pizza were odd and heavy. Go with a pie that’s already on the menu. PIZZATIP: Make sure to add tomato sauce to the pizza(some don’t come with it so ask your server) which adds a ton of flavor. Even the most odd-sounding topping combos are delish! DESSERT: Warm Banana Bread — Awesome. Ala mode with vanilla, chocolate or coconut ice cream. Brownie & Ice Cream — Small square of a homemade brownie with no nuts(unfortunately) and two scoops of ice cream(choice of vanilla, coconut or chocolate.) Plantain Split — Not a fan of plantains but tried it anyway. Didn’t care for the taste of it. Why not us a regular banana? Loved the ice cream! RESERVATIONS: Only taken for parties of 10+, but they do offer 1-hour call-ahead seating for smaller parties. SERVICE: Fast & normally very friendly. OVERALL: Good pizzas, lively vibe, very touristy.

Paia town is an amazing little place by itself… hippies, north shore vibe, surfers and that blue ocean water. Now imagine all of that with one of the best pizza joints tossed into this mix. Enter Flatbread. Walking in, the smell of pizza wafts through the air. It’s haunting really. The décor is a mix of beachy items and bright DIY colorings from the local keiki(kids.) Now onto the good stuff: Food. I’ve had quite a few different items from their menu… but some of my favorites are: The Mopsy’s Kalua Pork and here’s why: Kiawe smoked free-range pork shoulder, homemade organic mango BBQ sauce, organic red onions, Maui pineapple, cheese and awesomesauce. Oh my lanta. This stuff gives meaning to ONOGRINDZ. Another fabulous choice is: Pa’ia Bay Ohana! It’s got: Organic tomato sauce, caramelized organic onions, white mushrooms, cheese and loads of flavor. The organic salad is a great way to start off your meal and includes: fresh greens, organic papaya, toasted sesame seeds and their homemade Maui pineapple vinaigrette. YUM. There are a few super rad things about this place… 1) SO much of their food is from local sources, and lots of it is organic! 2) They have benefit night every Tuesday night! Go in and eat and support a great local cause. 3) You get to watch your pizza being cooked in the giant stone oven that sits in the middle of the restaurant. If you live on Maui or you are visiting, make sure to stop at Flatbread for some Ono grindz and beachy vibes.
