Maui Hands in Paia HI. is the place to bring home a piece of Maui. The local artist items are beautiful and not made in mass production. Each piece has it’s individual beauty. The clerks in the store are artist themselves and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The true Hawaiian experience is truly represented in «MAUIHANDS».

I love this place! The one thing I wanted from Hawaii was a keychain so I’d have the islands with me wherever I went. I found dozens here, and narrowed down my selection to two. When I couldn’t make up my mind, the memorable Jennifer agreed to let me customize a keychain out of the pieces that I liked from both of my choices. Very wonderful shopping experience and accommodating staff for such a small purchase. It just arrived today(had to ship it as I left the island that afternoon) and I couldn’t be happier :)

A beautiful shop in Makawao with all sorts of hand-made items. I love that they support the local artisans on Maui. They also frequently have artists-in-residence, who come and paint or create at the store. Many lovely items to choose from. I do find it a bit pricey, but then you aren’t paying for something that was mass-produced in China. Check out this store for that one-of-a kind gift or souvenir.

This is a great shop — a wide selection of products and knowledgeable, sociable staff. Local artists make the products you will find in the shop and the prices seem to be reasonable. I was particularly impressed when the sales guy explained that while the drum I was looking at was made on the Big Island, it was a Native American design vs. Hawaiian design.

This struck me as more of a tourist, kitchy place. Basic paintings. Walking sticks priced at over $ 200. Hair barrettes that were made of wood and simple for $ 18. Mostly Kitch, but you might be able to find a gift for someone here, if that is your thing.

Being an artist myself I really liked this shop a lot. I always try to bring home something to decorate my house with on each vacation I take with locally made goods. I found a wonderful resin coated orchid ornament. It’s so beautiful. I can’t wait to get an ornament stand and place it on my dresser. I only wish I could afford all the other little goodies I saw there. I thought the prices here were very reasonable(all hand made) and the staff was very friendly. She took special care to wrap the piece I purchased so it would safely make it home. I didn’t even realize they had a store in the Hyatt hotel — which I stayed at. If you come across this shop — is a real gem.

I have stopped in a Maui Hands each time I’ve been on Maui — There are a lot of really wonderful handcrafted items for sale — I particulalry loved the keychains and bought one as a gift each time I’ve been there. I just couldn’t bring myself to buy one for myself. Months and months later, I’m still thinking about those keychains, so for a birthday present to myself, I emailed the shop and asked if they could pick one out for me. They picked exactly the right one, and took the extra time to gift wrap it for me which made the surprise all the more sweet when it arrived in Seattle a few days later.

i didn’t make it to the one in paia but there is one in lahaina as well as kaanapali(in the Hyatt). i ended up purchasing 3 pieces of mixed media collages from a local artist at the one in lahaina. they were very helpful and the art was on consignment so they handled the negotiations and were super nice about it(and i got the price i wanted!) also they have excellent jewelry there as well. if i hadn’t bought art, I’d have bought tons of jewelry. a ridiculous amount I’m sure that would have possibly exceeded the amount i paid on art. some of the stuff is of course kitschy crap but a lot of it is unique and local. Epo was especially helpful, remembered another piece of art i was eying, and followed up with a phone call a few weeks after i left to make sure i was enjoying my art.

If you drive thru Paia, and you will when you visit Maui, park and stroll thru town. Great little shops. The best of all to me is Maui Hands. An incredible selection of art made in Maui, fo’real nothing from Bali here!, and a nice variety of objects. I wish I had more empty walls in my house. Or more shelves, or more fingers for rings and necks for necklaces! I mean, if you want to get something real Maui, at Maui Hands you’ll find the best bang for the buck. Nice people too to help you out. They pay attention and that’s nice.
