Americas Best Value Inn

The place had bugs and smelled. It is worth paying a little more and getting a clean place. I was surprised to see the housekeeping staff don’t make any attempt to clean the dozens of spider webs on the window.

My family and I (3 people total) stayed at the ABVI Painted Post for two nights July 4^th weekend of 2014. We requested a first floor room when I made the reservation and that is what we received (2 Queen Bed — Non-​Smoking).
Pros:
A/​C worked great
Room was clean
Beds were comfortable
Plenty of parking close to our door
Mini-​fridge
Free coffee and/​or juice any time
Price was good ($ 86/​night after taxes)
Best room rate came from joining the free ABVI Value Card Club
Location: right by the junction of 86 & 15; walking distance from a 24hr Walmart
Pool (we had no time to use it, unfortunately)
WiFi (supposedly, but we didn’t use it)
Cons:
Found a spider and a moth in the room upon arrival (no other bugs for the rest of the time spent there, though)
Continental breakfast was underwhelming
Lobby (where breakfast was held) was small
The hotel was everything we’d hoped for: a comfortable place to sleep after a long day of driving and family activities. The staff was friendly. Housekeeping did a fine job in fixing up the room. The shower was acceptable (hot water, water pressure, roominess, etc.). Check-​in was quick and painless. Check-​out was the same way. The location was fine, as we ended up needing items from Wal-​Mart both nights we stayed there. It’s a 10-​minute drive from the restaurant/​bar strip of Corning, so that was nice.
If you need a hotel in the area, this is not only one of the most inexpensive ones, but it’s well-​worth it. It’s not luxurious, but it’s great for needing a place to lay one’s head after a long day of upstate NY driving.

Great little motel for a few night stay. Remember you get what you pay for so you need to keep that in mind. There are much nicer hotels in the area if you don’t mind mind paying $ 40 to $ 50 per night more.
