I recently came down to the Corning/Painted Post area due to the death of a friend. Corning was his hometown so coming down here was to say our final goodbyes and support our other friend; his partner in this time. His family setup a memorial breakfast and lunch here. For breakfast we were able to order off the small menu, my selection was the«western omelet». Home fries are extra which I think is ridiculous since the portion size isn’t worth the upcharge. At least they appear to be house made however that alone does not justify the additional price. My western omelet was fair size, actually running the length of the whole plate and comes with ham, cheese, peppers and onions. However the ham is anything but abundant, I actually ended up digging through the home omelet and found the majority of it comes with none, the cheese appears to be some kind of white American-processed cheese. The melted consistency was weird and somewhat plastic like. I will admit the omelet was overflowing with peppers and onions however the one major thing that the food lacked was FLAVOR! The same can be said for what we had for our buffet style lunch. Sauced penne, meatballs and sausage in red sauce, marinated chicken strips, salad and assorted deserts. The overall blandness continued into our lunch serving, the red sauce had no taste to it, no herbs, no spices and the sliced chicken cutlets although appearing to be marinated in something were just as tasteless and a bit rubbery. The salad itself was simple and I didn’t try any of the dressings for it. Had it not been part of the memorial I can’t imagine I would have come back however options are limited in this small town, the staff were friendly enough. The only other thing I noticed was that the water in these towns taste different which affected the taste of the coffee.

I should have known when a cheese ball and club crackers came out before we ordered we should have left. The food had no flavor, tasted cheap and old.
