I live around the corner and had a craving for milk shakes. It was 8pm on a summer weekday and the drive-​in didn’t seem very busy. However, I’m not sure what the problem was but we waited 25 minutes for 2 milkshakes. We should’ve gone through the drive through as I’m sure it couldn’t have taken that long for 2 milkshakes. That was our first and last visit. With 2 kids and a fast food restaurant, I expect faster service. The food was fair, nothing great and definitely not worth the wait. Next time, I’ll just go to Culvers down the street.

I’ve been here twice now and they keep getting my orders wrong and they only give me half cups on the ice cream. I ask her why they won’t fill up the ice cream cup she told me the owner ask them not to. Don’t spend your money here!

I only come here for the ‘Sonic Blast’! There are 4 Sonics total in Chicagoland area and this location is open until midnight. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ‘sonic blast’! This location is very updated and is so much cooler looking then the other Sonics.
I only get ‘Sonic Blast’ with extra Oreos or with extra cookie dough. It’s delicious!

First time at Sonic! Its nice you order from your car or go through the drive through! They are open till midnight we called ahead to confirm! My friend raved about there blast ice cream! I had Oreo blast with extra Oreos! Very satisfied! Had real Oreos cant wait to return!

Pretty much what you would expect, it’s greasy fast food that’s pretty cheap and good. The service is usually quick and the staff is friendly. Nothing the brings this place above par or makes it super special. Just your average drive up/​drive through quick meal.

I’m usually rather fond of Sonic, I love the chili cheese dog, tots, and their shakes.
Which is why I have to rate this location so poorly. I attempted to use my card here, and after an epic five minute struggle to obtain the attention of manager, they said it was declined. I went across the street to the Taco Bell, and it worked fine.
The next day I come back with cash, but wanted to try ordering from their consoles in the parking stalls to see if my card would work. Thirty minutes later, I pulled out of the stall and used cash through the drive through.
Mostly I suppose this is a testament to how good the shakes are that I would tolerate such poor service, and how cheap they are with the half price after 8pm. But still, spectacularly poor service for what is usually a pretty straightforward process.

Perfect location! Nothing like getting a couple buddies together and driving over to sonic to enjoy the nice weather and food!
The service is always welcoming and quick!

Wow, what a joke. Ordered cheese tots. Confirmed with them that I got cheese tots. No cheese on the tots.

lf u want terrible food, eat there crap. I have never had such garbage before. I wouldn’t let my dog eat there food.

For what it is, Sonic is good! I’ve never had a problem, and the service is friendly.
I don’t really care for the food all that much, but if you read over the menu, and you like what you see, chances are, you’ll like what you are served.
They have interesting specials throughout the year like corn dogs for 50 cents or so. I think I keep going back for the wide selection of milkshake flavors.

Service at the Palatine location is awful. I had to repeat myself many times til the dip $#!+ taking my order was paying attention. When I finally get it she hands my bag and says here you go. Wow thanks have a good night must not be in the training manual.

Sonic is a restaurant that I normally would not go out of my way to visit. We were in the area so thought it would be fun to go to their drive in. But, the weather was so good we decided to use their outdoor seating.
If you have not been to Sonic, you order from an intercom panel at a large billboard type menu. You key in your order, swipe your credit card and wait. The day we went, their «credit card swipers» were not working so a car-​hop came out to take our order.
I ordered a double hamburger, fries and a pineapple slush — they are known for their thousands of combinations of slushes. I have to say the burger was very good. The fries were fair. The slush actually came with real chunks of pineapple in it — it was very sweet and probably did not need the added sugar.
Overall, the experience of eating outdoors made the experience really nice. The fries were not as good as expected — tasted like they had been frozen for too long before deep frying. And, while the server was nice, there was a very long wait for the food. I struggled between two and three stars — their ordering process was broken, the fries subpar, the service slow. But, the hamburger and the slush were good and the staff was nice. So, I err on the positive side and give them three stars.
If you compare this to other reviews of mine — this would not hold candle to some of the other restaurants I’ve given three stars. But, for the type of restaurant and my expectations based on that, it came out where I would have expected.

The way I see it no one really goes to Sonic for the food, or at least I dont. Its mediocre fast food and Im just not a big fan, but I am a definitely a sucker for their shakes and slushies. But the reason im writing this review is because of the staff. I go every so often and each time its a pleasant experience. Im sure working fast food sucks but these kids have fun with it and I really appreciate that. On Saturday the guy taking orders was over the top funny with his greeting and take on a Matt Damon character. I was so caught offguard as no one expects that when the drive thru looks slammed and I almost died laughing — it was an unexpected suprise and now I want to tell everyone because everyone should hear how funny it was. It seems like workers here have a good time and pass that along to customers and I can appreciate that.

For the last 2 months or so, I’ve been craving a chili cheese dog, and craving it HARD. I’ve been kind of holding off on getting one, since I’m from the Windy City where we don’t put chili on our hot dogs. Where would I even find one?
Enter Sonic. I’ve been to this Sonic location plenty of times, mostly for french toast sticks, tater tots, and rt. 44 size drinks at happy hour. When I pulled up to my spot today, I was really unsure of what I wanted to have other than tots. I searched the board and BOOM!
Chili cheese coney… using an all beef hot dog. I won’t eat any old hot dog. It’s gotta be 100% beef. I mean, who knows what they use for the chili? Who cares? All I know is that it was delicious. They certainly didn’t skimp on the chili, or the cheese, or the mustard (which I had asked for). I should have asked for onions as well for a little crunch, but now I know for next time. I hoovered that chili dog. Like 3 bites and it was gone. They also offer a footlong chili dog, but I didn’t take that risk today. The little paper boat the dog was served in made for a great drip catcher/​tot dipping vessel.
In all honesty, that chili dog was so good that I almost went back and ordered another one for dinner.

These people who work in this dump are so stupid they can’t even get a simple order right. 2 things on the burger are too complicated so they have to make it wrong anyway. So after I told the Manager on duty that she should fire the cook for not being able to read she yells out the window and I quote «I HOPE THE REST OF YOUR DAY IS AS NICE AS NICE AS YOU ARE ASSHOLE !! Bye Sonic. You suck !!

Been here 3 times now. Slow and sloppy service. Got sick twice. All 3 orders were wrong. What else can I say? Never again!

I don’t often have a need to just sit in my car and eat (actually, it almost never happens), but today was one of those days. So after my appointment, I swung by Sonic for a quickie breakfast. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese toaster and a cherry limeade (the greatest drink ever created). The service was a tad slow, but friendly. The sandwich was bad: the toast was smushed flat, and all I could taste was cheese. But I was starving so I let it slide.
Not a bad option for a quick, adequate meal. But for real food, spend the extra money/​drive a little further.

It’s sonic the food is the same. The tots are great! With that said horrible service today. I ordered and paid. 25 minutes later I had to call back in. They never put my order in.
Not happy and not sure ill be back to this location.
Edit: the manager came out with my order 2 minutes later, already refunded my card and gave me a coupon. Although the service was bad they redeemed themselves with customer relations.

I don’t really come here for the food, so I can’t comment on that aspect of sonic. In the summer I love going through the drive thru for an ice cold slush or cherry limeade. It is even better if it is between 2 – 5 pm because then it is half priced. However, make sure the drive thru guy is aware of that because I have definitely driven away before I realized they charged me full price for the drink during happy hour. Sonic also has half priced milkshakes after 8 pm. I need to go back and try that sometime!
