Colteris, in my opinion and experience, produces the best wine in the valley, including a Cab, a Cab Franc and a very unique blush wine which is 100% Cabernet grape. It is always one of the first places we take visitors to taste and they are never disappointed. Their sister business is High Country Orchards which grows some of the best peaches in the valley. Most of the peaches, because of their quality, go to Whole Foods. The grounds are pristine and there is a great overlook that is just above the Colorado river. Put it on your list! Favorite winery in CO! The wine is delicious, the views are even better. My fav wine was the unique tasting cab sauv from 2012. The owners are kind and personable. I’ll definitely be back!

My mom and I stopped at Colterris while exploring Palisade this past weekend. What a beautiful vineyard and orchard — Wow! We had a great experience tasting the two wines they had in stock with one of the owners, who is so passionate about wine that it sort of rubs off on you. We learned so much from her and genuinely and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! After purchasing a bottle, we took a little walk to the end of the property, which has the most incredible view and enjoyed the sunshine for a bit before heading out. Tonight, we enjoy cabernet franc with our dinner!

I can’t think of a better winery in Colorado.(okay, Guy Drew and Boulder Creek are tied for second) I’ve always had great wines here, and if you’re lucky enough to visit when there’s produce, so much the better. Oh, and preserves, salsa, etc. Their attempts at Bordeaux-style wines are pretty successful, with decent body, wonderful nose & taste, and a great finish. This is wine you want to drink, made by some very nice people.

My wife and I have been wine tasting in the area many times, but we usually avoid newer wineries. We’re sure glad we tried Colterris, though. They were out of the white cab, but we really enjoyed their cabernet and cab franc. The atmosphere was breezy and relaxed. We’ll be back.

Overall a very pleasant and relaxing experience. We strolled through the lavender garden and peach orchard to the scenic overlook of the Mesa and Colorado River. Tasting was relaxing as we sat at tables and the wine was brought to us. Unfortunately there were only two to taste. We did enjoy lavender ice cream with fresh peaches on top.

Tasting wine is about more than just the wine. Its about the culture, the land, the people who make the wine, and the experience you have while visiting. I was driving through Grand Junction last February and after asking a Sommelier in the area where the best wine was coming from, he said Colterris. I called a day ahead, and they were able to schedule me for a tasting even though their tasting room isn’t open in the winter. The owner, Theresa, was wonderful; when I open one of the bottles I bought, I have a memory about the people, the land and the experience. To me, that’s what wine is about! We tried 3 wines, all exceptionally made. Colterris is producing terroir driven wines,(THANKYOU!!!) not 16 different wines from 16 different grape varietals that all taste like crap! If you are looking for quality wines from Colorado, and a wonderful tasting experience, Colterris is the place to visit!

Scenic winery. You get a triple threat at this winery. You get a great winery, orchard, and a scenic view of the Colorado River and Mt Garfield. Great photo Ops«ball and Chain»,“screw ball“‘ «peach», old fashion truck, beautiful scenery. The owners are super nice. They give tours if you prearrange them. This is a great place to visit. They offer 3 wines to taste. 1 white 2reds

Beautiful scenery, lovely tasting area, and very good wines. They have three available — cab franc(hefty– I’d be happy to have this with a lamb chop!), cab sauv(bought some — it’s every single bit as good as one from our recent Sonoma trip at same price point), and a white-zin style white cab(I’d drink it on a hot summer afternoon). Snacks to keep you happy too. Lovely ladies doing the wine tasting and a really good gift shop for the area. Solid, very nice visit. Good recommendations for area restaurants too. Thank you for a pleasant visit — can’t wait to drink the bottle of Cab Sauv!

What a great surprise! Our group of 10 stopped by on a bike tour yesterday. Teresa and her family made us feel so welcome. The wine was absolutely delicious and the venue gorgeous. This winery was by far the favorite stop along our tour.

Of all the vineyards and wineries that we visited, Colterris was my least favorite. Not because they only offered two wines(Desert Sun also only offered two wines was a great experience). Not because their wines were bad. And not(well, sort of) because they charged a $ 1 fee per 1 oz of wine you tasted(and they only offered two wines) when every one else offered complimentary tastings. It was the entire mood of the place. The young woman who helped us had a flat and uninterested personality. She didn’t care if we liked the wine. She didn’t care if we liked our visit. She didn’t care one iota about anything having to do with us. She didn’t talk about the weird fruit store connected to the wine store. She didn’t describe either of the wines we inevitably paid for and tasted. She was utterly worthless. My husband and I ended up buying a bottle of the Cabernet Franc to recoup our $ 4. We would typically buy half a case of wine at each vineyard– not only to support them, but because we genuinely enjoyed the wine. When I look at the Cab Franc on my wine rack, I scowl. It was a frustrating experience and put a damper on the day. That woman really was a wet blanket. The only cool thing they did was give away American Flag pins on Labor Day.

We stopped by Colterris as part of this installment of our Palisade wine tour. We were less impressed with Colterris than with some of the others. They are a newer winery so they only have 2 to 3 labels. They are one of the few in the area that charge for tasting. Its 2.00 for 2 wines which the pourer didn’t tell us about until after he started us; quite frustrating. When he did pour it was very stingy. We tried the Cab Sauv and Cab Franc. Both were lack luster and a little drier than we like. They were Bordeaux style and really just kind of average for us. If you like drier wines then give it shot but with so many great vintages in the Grand Valley, you could miss this one and be ok.

Beautiful location, but limited and pricey selection. Be prepared to pay for a taste, but you can enjoy it in a nice patio area. The adjoining shop has some delicious goodies as well.

We had a great time in Palisade wine country! The highlight of our day was the wine tasting and tour of Colterris. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable as we rode around the peach orchards on the High Country Orchards property and took in the gorgeous views of the Colorado River. Then we tasted two wines at their tasting room. First was the 2011 Cab Franc and then the 2010 Cab Sav. I loved the Cab Franc and then I tasted the Cab Sav! Wow! I was so impressed that Colorado was making such great red wines! So worth the trip!

This place is great to start or finish your tour, we had been there twice and owners are very nice and attentive, their ate tours are fun and informative, Michelle Obama has her own special peach tree there, wine is ok, but you can buy it cheaper at the liquor store

Tourists are kinda like flea market shoppers aren’t they? They scurry about looking for good deals or finds and honestly, a bunch of them are just cheap assed crooks. Well, maybe that’s a little harsh. Let’s just say the majority of them are bargain hunters. But regardless, hidden amongst the bargain hunters is your future customer base and you have to treat them all the same if you want that base to build. The $ 2.00 charge for a tasting? Yeah, kinda screwy. and the pours for a taste… on the meager side. I’m thinking you probably checked out your competition? I appreciate that you guys have a lot of time in on the business end of the wine business so I see where you’re bottle pricing is coming from but you gotta remember, the majority of the people that are coming to the vineyard are usually traveling great distances to get there. Value pricing until you have more of a demand? I’m no expert. Just common sense. You got to make them want to make that trip again. The wines I sampled I thought were good and I enjoyed all the info sharing but, dial it back just a little. My wife said, and I agree that it felt a little too scripted? Just wanted to share my insights. Can;t wait to uncork the ’09 and to taste the preserves. You’re nice folks and I wish you well. See you next year(especially for some peaches!).

Okay, I am unable to explain how dissapointed I am in the experience my family and I had at this winery. I undestand this winery is new, but wow, to start off this poorly is ridiculous. So my family and I were wine tasting in the area and had hit several wineries already. We heard there was a new winery and were eager to see what they had to offer since every other winery in the area is fantastic. We arrive and are greeted by friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere… and thats about it. Since they are new they only have 2 wines to choose from. Well, we all get seated and hear a rather lengthy story about the vineyards and soil and how they traveled the world to find where they wanted to open their winery and blah, blah, blah. We wanted to try some wines and buy them if we liked them, not be bored to death with a 30 minute story. After she tells us this story, we try the two different wines, which were very bland… thats really all there is to say about the wines. Bland. So, we look at the prices for the wines and are disgusted to find these people are priced $ 5-$ 7 more than every other winery in the area, and their wine is just AWFUL! So, we decide we don’t want to waste money on bland wine. We thank the lady who gave us her life story and we get up to leave. As we are leaving, she calls out to us «oh, by the way its $ 2 a tasting per person. Didn’t the other girl tell you that?» Is that okay?” Well jeez lady, not it isn’t okay to tell us you’re gonna charge us $ 2 for 2 sips of wine AFTER we drink them. Every other winery in the area is FREE!!! So we paid these people $ 12 for the worst 12 sips of wine we have ever had. Should you decide you want to waste money and time on awful wine, this is the place for you! However, if you would like GREAT wine at GREAT prices, you can literally drive down the road in any direction and find it. Skip this place, your money is better spent elsewhere.
