This was my first time at this restaurant. My boyfriend and I started with the crab rangoon as an appetizer, which was different than normal crab Rangoon. It was flat and lacked crab flavor and seemed to have more of a vegetable and herb flavor. I wouldn’t get that again. For the rolls, we got the Unagi roll, Ai Roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, and Salmon/Tuna roll. All were good, but the Unagi was hands down the best. My only complaint with the rolls was that they weren’t wrapped the best and tended to fall apart a bit. Overall, I would say the experience was average. I would never tell someone to not go, but I would also tell people to see what other restaurants are around. Not overwhelming, and certainly not underwhelming.

The food is decent, but overpriced for what it is, the place is in desperate need of updating, the owners are very nice and accomodating

Meh. The sushi was pretty low quality, especially the nigiri. I thought it was a joke after the great reviews I read here. Also some of the salmon I had was still frozen.

Ai Japanese Restaurant gets a rare(for me) five star rating. My wife and I decided to go out for Japanese food and instead of the same place we always go, we tried something different. Ai is a small store front restaurant with maybe twenty-five tables. One server was able to handle the light Wed. night crowd. Menu features classic Japanese entrée’s along with a nice selection of sushi and Japanese beer Prices are very reasonable, server was attentive and the overall experience was excellent. I had the sushi dinner special which left the selections(8) to the chef. It was excellent(the ice cold beer was great too). My wife had one of the specials, a bento box dinner which included a variety of chicken, vegetables and shrimp. Both dinners included miso soup and a salad. Needless to say we will be back

There were 13 of us including 26year olds. Everyone loved the food and the service was excellent. We started with the Crab Rangoon, Edamame and Vege Tempura and ended with the Mochi and fried Cheesecake. Yum!

This is one of my all-time favorite Japenese restaurants. The soup and salad is perfect and their traditional Japanese dishes are absolutely delicious. Definitely try their Banana Tempura as a dessert!

Ai has to be one of the best restaurants in Palm Coast. The sushi, and sashimi is always fresh. Best tempura anywhere, and great miso soup & salad. Always great service, and quiet, comfortable atmosphere.

OK Food and service but a little pricey for the quality they provide. I recommend them for a quick fix if you’re in the area, want sushi, and don’t have time to drive anyplace better. You won’t be disappointed, but you won’t be wowed either.
