Although small, this is a great community center. There are basketball and racquetball courts as well as a weight room. There is a membership fee for residents. They also have a multi-purpose room with a full kitchen that is available for rental. Included with the annual membership fee are classes that are available at an additional fee, although priced low. Non-residents can join for a higher fee. Classes do change throughout the year. There are tot, camp and after-school programs, sports, dance classes and martial art classes(Tae Kwon Do). The place is clean and the staff is friendly.

This is a very nice gym with a full basketball court-, which is a rarity even in commercial gyms. The court, every night, was full of excited«players» playing team basketball. Unfortunately, if you were not one of «them», hardly you can join in. Sometimes, they even played a full court game, denying others having a chance just shoot the ball. It has a very popular and nice Racquetball courts, just next to the basketball court. The Center also provides various programs for all ages(with a fee). The fitting room was small, only a few machines there and almost always packed. I should not complain. The membership fee for Palm Desert Resident is only $ 25 A YEAR! Never heard of. Hope the gym could be remodeled and expanded.(Indio gym is much larger.) Palm Desert has tons of money. Should have spent some fund to improve this place.

This is a great place to get a workout, at an excellent price. At this facility, they have basketball, racquetball, free weights and resistance machines, and cardiovascular equipment. They also offer a wide range of classes, which can be found on the Desert Recreation District’s Web site( ). If you live in Indio, Palm Desert, La Quinta or Rancho Mirage, you can join for something like $ 20 a year, and that gives you full access to all of the District facilities and equipment. Thanks to the fine leadership in the cities of Palm Springs and Cathedral City(who elected not to be a part of the Desert Recreation District), it will cost you $ 120(I think) to join for a year. The facility is not as shiny as some of the high-end gyms, but you can’t beat this place when it comes to bang for your buck.
