Two days in a row, my wife and I had the breakfast buffet. Service was good and sitting outside was very relaxing. There is an omelet station as well as common breakfast items such as bacon, sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs, and French toast. Omelet was delicious and of course the bacon as well.

We had the breakfast buffet here on 3 consecutive days. When it was good it was very good(Day 2). But mostly it was inconsistent. The inconsistency started from the moment you walk in — on Day Two we received instructions about ordering omelettes if we wanted, but that wasn’t mentioned on Days One and Three. The food variety is pretty good — with standard hot entrees of scrambled eggs, potatoes, french toast, and bacon & sausage. Plus fruit, cereal, oatmeal, breads and pastries. I have to say, the fruit was terrific and the bacon was terrific– thick and meaty. Service could have been better. On day One, my wife asked for skim milk for her cereal, a guy said«sure no problem». He vanished and was never seen again. On Day One, we weren’t given a coffee carafe like we had on Days 2 and 3, and the Day One coffee refills took forever. On Day One, the yogurt bowl was empty when we got there, and 45 minutes later it was still empty. Day Three was even worse, when we saw the rare accomplishment of simultaneously empty fruit, yogurt, and hot trays. Even when the trays were full, we saw inconsistencies with the amount and variety of the baked items and danishes. Day Three saw no raspberries or strawberries at all. On Days One and Two our table settings didn’t have spoons. We had vouchers for breakfast, and one day we received no bill, one day we got a computer bill with a zero balance, and one day we received a computer bill with a $ 38 balance. Lots of small things going bad means a larger problem, don’t you think?

Service was basically non-existent. Unbelievable for a Marriott property. The first day we waited it out. The food was OK, but I can’t believe how long we had to wait for a server. The second day we were totally ignored and just left.

Stopped by here for a late lunch. They have an inside dining area, but we opted to sit on the patio and overlook the pool. Our server was Tony and he was EXCELLENT! He goes above and beyond. Food: Date Sliders-Very Good Angus Beef, chipotle aioli, white cheddar on a brioche bun Housemade Chips– Very Good(my husband’s favorite) with chipotle aioli Santa Rosa Club-Standard BLT Didn’t try any more of the menu, but could potentially be 4 stars…

This place is quite expensive, however it is considered fine dining. The décor is very nice and matches the hotel well. I ate here 5 times in the span of a week because of resort credit. I wouldn’t have eaten here at all if it wasn’t for that as this is quite expensive(as all hotel restaurants are). I came here for breakfast twice. The first time I had the steak and eggs breakfast. It was what I expected. It seasoned lightly and came with hash browns and a perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. The 2nd time I had the eggs benedict. It was good except for the Hollander sauce which was a bit more lemony and less buttery/savory. For a late night snack — the San francisco ciopinno soup. Very tomato-ey and fresh seafood tasting. High quality soup that I still crave. For the first dinner, I had the blue crab cakes. The plate was decorated with finesse and the taste elements were well put together. It had sour apples with the crab cakes and a fruit jam sauce. The second dinner I had the chicken breast with Parmesan risotto. It was very delicious and savory. Risotto was done perfectly and the chicken breast plump and juicy. If you have resort credit, don’t hesitate to spend it here

Had their breakfast buffet which was awful, they had one cook managing the entire buffet on a Saturday morning. Needless to say they were out of everything, which when I say everything I mean 2 out of the 3 items they offered. Usually they have a huge spread with many different options. This was more like the Courtyard Marriott options. Plus, The fruit was all nasty! Service was slow, had to ask several times for my juice and coffee and they brought it when I was nearly finished eating. Definitely not worth the hassle/price.

Wow good thing my phone was dead before I could check the reviews of this place, or else I would never have gone! I was staying in this hotel for White Party, and my friends and I were starving and needed solid foods fast. So we ate here in the hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Sesame Seared Tuna and it was delicious! The Wasabi cream gave it a nice kick, and the tuna was cooked nicely. My friend had the Peppered Salmon and it was also cooked perfectly. Not sure why everyone had a miserable experience here. It may have helped that when we were there the restaurant was empty. Most boys at White Party didn’t eat the entire weekend…

I know this place has probably a lot more to offer, but at the certain that I went there and with the certain people that helped me out, or DIDN’T help me out for that matter, the two stars is what they deserve. I would’ve gave it 1 star, but I went there twice in the time that I was in Palm Springs and the 2nd time was a little more enjoyable, but not by much. The Place — The place has definitely got a few things going for it… convenience of location and décor. Not a lot of people fancy the idea of walking around in the desert heat, let alone from the Renaissance to go get something to eat, and seeing as how DATE is the only restaurant in the hotel, people tend to gravitate to going there. The décor and environment is pretty nice as well… DATE has both indoor and outdoor seating with the walkway being the dividing point. While you’re walking in the hallway of the hotel, on one side is the indoor seating and the other are a few double french doors that open out into the outdoor seating and pool area. Definitely something nice to enjoy especially during good weather. ***3/5 Stars*** The Service — Oh the service… where do I even begin? I was in the hotel as part of a conference so, in their defense, the hotel itself was fairly busy, but I would assume that a well-known hotel chain such as this would be more than prepared and trained to deal with something like the traffic of a conference. The conference was well underway and I needed something more than bagels and coffee to satisfy my hunger and prepare me for a whole day of workshops and sessions. Seeing as how convenient of a place this is, I decided to give it a go. The hostess is located front and center of the walk way that links the indoor and outdoor seating of DATE. They were prompt in greeting me and seating me and, unfortunately, that’s where the service stopped… literally. Once I sat down, I was told someone would be right with me so I waited… for 45 mins. Now, some people may say, «Well, why didn’t you leave?» And your right, I would have, except for the fact I wanted to stick around and get the whole experience so that I can make sure I note it in my Unilocal review! Lol I’m here for you guys, right??? =P haha Anyways, so there I sat waiting for someone to come and take my order. Once someone finally did, they said they would get it in right away…20 mins later, I was asked again, by a DIFFERENT person what did I have to eat again… yea, I immediately knew that my order was never put in in the first place… awesome. In addition to that snafu, everyone must’ve been having a bad day or something because I was just surrounded by people with horrible attitudes. I knew they were swamped and busy, but there are better ways of handling it than the way they did. Customer service is key and it definitely wasn’t there… literally. *1/5 Stars* The Food — DATE is pretty popular with its breakfast; however, it’s the buffet that it’s most popular for. Do NOT order from their A La Carte menu… it’s way overpriced and not worth it ATALL! My first visit, I decided to do just that and ordered a waffle and their corn beef hash. As I’m writing this, I can’t help but to chuckle because when the food FINALLY came out after an hour later, the waffle was undercooked, had no crisp or flavor to it, and the biggest gripe for me, the corn beef hash was made from CANNED corn beef! A BIG red flag for me… there’s nothing wrong with canned corn beef, but I could’ve very well made that at home. The reason people get corn beef hash at a restaurant is to get it fresh and flavorful. THIS corned beef hash was everything but. On a brighter note though, the 2nd time I came here, which was the following day, I came as part of a business breakfast and decided to go with their breakfast buffet. The breakfast buffet is DEFINITELY the thing to get, IF you had to get something. While the quality of it isn’t all that great either, it’s waaaaayyyy better than their A La Carte menu and you don’t get the feeling of being robbed out of your money. Thanks, but no thanks, DATE **2/5 Stars** Overall — While the convenience of DATE is great and the fact that they have indoor and outdoor seating to take advantage of the great Palm Springs weather, there are A LOT of factors that just make this place not at all appealing. If I had no choice and I needed some food, I would come here for the buffet just to satisfy my hunger and not because of a craving. I’m not sure how lunch and dinner service is, but if it’s anything like their breakfast service on a busy day, DEFINITELY go somewhere else.

It only took us 5 minutes to be seated(with no one else at the podium) and after sitting aNOTHer 10 minutes, i got up and asked a passing server if he was the only one on the patio working. his reply was«WELLYOUHAVETOGETSEATEDFIRST!» to which i replied«i already have»… This guy was the epitome of an employee that does not deserve his job, due to lack of respect of the customer. After having to go back to the podium to find a manager to get my check(after not seeing anyone for 20 minutes after finishing eating) she asked«how was everything?» to which my reply was«terrible and your server was rude». She looked at me surprised and had no reply. The terrible part of this place, is there is no other choice for food in the hotel unless you want a $ 2 candy bar from the front desk. Absolutely horrible.

I stay at the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel, where this restaurant is located, twice a year. We have decided to try the Date Restaurant several times because of the convenience factor. On this last visit, the décor was pleasant and I found our server friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We both ordered the Eggs Benedict which came with a side of fruit. There was nothing wrong with the food, but it was just kind of «meh» and overpriced. The egg was well cooked, and the hollandaise sauce was okay, but the english muffin was damp and and didn’t hold it’s shape. In contrast, the fruit cup was excellent with fresh and firm pineapple and melon and included a raspberry, a blackberry, a blueberry, and half a strawberry. I wouldn’t drive anywhere to get to this restaurant but if you’re staying in the hotel and are hungry it is convenient and will certainly fill you up.

HORRIBLESERVICE and the food is meh! Came here at 11 for breakfast and after about an hour or so, we left with complete dissatisfaction. Where should I start? 1) A lot of waiting! We did not even know we had a server because she did not come to our table until after we were seated for about 15 – 20 minutes. She never apologized or told us that she is busy and will come back to us. 2) Our food… –Frittata with basil, tomatoes and egg whites. It was only okay, very bland. –Desert Eggs Benedict with refried beans, chorizo, asparagus, and red chilies. This one was a huge disappointment! It came out with none of the vegetables listed on the menu for this dish! After waiting for about 30 minutes(she disappeared somewhere), I asked her about the asparagus and red chiles — and her response was, «Oh they are just for garnish, I can bring them out if you want» HMMUNBELIEVABLE!!! It’s rare for a menu to list garnish items and if they do they usually say that it’s «garnished with…» This dish is also bland too! 3) We asked for hot sauce and we never got it. She even remembered but still never came by with it. 4) MOREWAITING!!! We wanted to pay with a card but after waiting for another 20 minutes, we couldn’t take it because we were in a hurry to go to Coachella. So we took the card and just paid straight cash with less than 10% Tip. Sorry but the overall experience was horrible. Do not go here if you want to waste your time and money. I rather go to a fast food joint for breakfast than here. Fancy food with NO flavor and NO service is a NO go!

i was attending a conference at the ps convention center, and decided to eat the date restaurant in the renaissance hotel. glad it was on the company, because i would’ve been pretty pissed paying for the food at the date. the food is actually okay. a little overpriced, but hey, that’s what you get for eating at the renaissance. the biggest problem was the horrible service. i ate there on friday and saturday for lunch, and the service was consistently bad. ordered the mighty burger. huge. finished half. as i was waiting for my burger, noticed that customers around me were waiting forever for their bill. so i asked the waiter to bring me my check once the burger came out. still took forever. granted they were slammed from conference participants, but they would’ve thought to have more people on staff that day. duh. ate here on saturday. ordered the santa fe sandwich. your typical blt w/avocado + turkey. again, a good-sized meal with the same terrible service. my waiter was the same guy from the day before, and he was still slow and not friendly. didn’t crack a smile, and looked like he hated what he was doing. the bus staff was waaaaay better than him. had to talk to a bus person to get the waiter two times. do yourself a favor and drive out to eat.

No gluten free menu and no desire for my business. I had eaten there last year and remember that i had ordered a burger with no bun and got a burger with a bun which took so long that i couldn’t wait and had to skip lunch. I don’t trust this place. My coworkers didn’t seem to mind the place though.

Had breakfast here this am. The Restaurant opens at 6:00 am weekdays which I prefer bc I can visit clients and beat the heat! I ordered the eggs Benedict with Starbucks coffee. The entrée came with hash brown potatoes. I enjoyed the prompt service and the food was good overall.
