Nope! Wasnt terribly impressed with the Shermanator! $ 18 for a sandwich would be ok(barely) if the quality was there, or if the staff was a bit more friendly. Simply put, this is not a spot i would return to.

We went to this deli two times to justify our opinion. The first visit was very disappointing. We felt rushed to make a choice from their delicious HUGE menu! I was hoping to order a reuben but ordered the hot corned beef sandwich, in error, for lack of time to study the options. The sandwich was meat and bread, ONLY! When we were finished with our meal the waiter was no where to be found, long wait. On the 2nd visit, much better experience. Therefore I upgraded the rating to a 4 star. Take your time and study your food options. The bakery items were wonderful!

We were going out for the evening to the street fair in downtown Palm Springs and we’re looking for a decent deli to grab a bite beforehand. When we got to Sherman’s it was pretty busy but it only took about 10 minutes to be seated. We were able to get drink orders in right away and then that guy disappeared. There was a waitress running around helping plenty of other tables but never gave us a look for at least 10 – 15 minutes. When we did finally order we asked for the complimentary pickles they usually bring to the table and we got the look of «really» before she barked out to the manager to bring us an order. The menu is huge! One side for breakfast and the other for lunch and dinner. It’s your classic Jewish deli with everything from pickled herring to gefilte fish and latkes. Having been to another Sherman’s location, I was going to go traditional but saw another guests order go by and the Philly Cheese looked delicious. I shouldn’t have done it. Anyway, I ordered the Philly with fries and a single latke. Wifey ordered a half egg salad and half chopped liver open face sandwich. We waited and waited and waited. The pickles never came out, nor did our food for another 20 – 25 minutes. We inquired again and eventually got the pickles about 2 minutes before our dinners came out. Like I said, I should’ve ordered the pastrami on rye because the philly was garbage. Too much cheese, not melted Anouilh to meld with the meat. The latke was burnt from staying in the fryer too long. The place had cleared out by the time we finished and we ended up making small talk with the waitress as she was trying to scramble and save her tip. I had every intention of leaving 15% but caved and gave her 20% even though she clearly didn’t deserve it. We were lucky to get a drink refill one time but that was about it. All she did was complain about how long her shift was and how tired she was. I get it but I’m obviously there for food and service so we had a bit of a conflict… We’ll likely go back to Sherman’s anyway, maybe not that one because the food is usually excellent and the service has always been better than last night’s event experience.

If you think you have small hands don’t come here. The sandwiches are so big they will dwarf your hands! Seriously they sandwiches are huge! Service here was fine. Nothing great. They do have a good variety of sandwiches to choose from. The bread and meat is really good quality. You won’t be disappointed when you roll in here for lunch!

We have visited the Palm Desert location numerous times and we were happy to try out the original Palm Springs location since we are staying closer to it. Sunday morning at 10:30 and it was jampacked, however the wait was only 10 minutes as it is a very large location and service is quick. We had corn beef hash and eggs with a side bagel and potatoes, veggie omelette with an everything bagel and potatoes, and the matzo brei. All were very good flavor although every single item, except for the corn beef hash, needed more salt and pepper. We guess with all of the elderly folks around here they’re trying to keep the salt low and let you put it on yourself. We are looking forward to returning for a lunch or dinner splitting a Reuben sandwich and an enormous piece of cake!

This was probably one of the BEST delis I’ve ever been to. I came here on MLK weekend with the bf, after spending the entire morning in playing in the snow at Mt. Jacinto. The bf had been here before with his family and had remembered it being one of the best restaurants, if not the best, in Palm Springs. Well, he was absolutely right! WAITTIME: We came here Monday(holiday) at around 12pm. It looked packed but we(party of 2) actually got seated right away. PARKING: Parking was easy. They have their own parking lot and it is completely free! FOOD: Freaking delicious. Bf got the french dip with cottage fries, while I ordered the pastrami with coleslaw and potato salad. We just ended up sharing both dishes between the two of us. Bf said the french dip was the BEST french dip he’s ever had. The meat was juicy and flavorful, even without the au jus. The meat was stacked high(portions were huge) and cooked perfectly. The au jus was flavorful without being too salty. The bread was great too. A++!! The pastrami was delicious as well, but we’ve had other great pastrami places(Langer’s, Katz) in LA and NY. Regardless, it was one of the best I’ve had as well, although I prefer the bread at other places. The fries and potato salad were good but nothing special. We also got the banana cream pie for dessert. It was only $ 4.95 but was enough for the both of us to share. It was delicious and not overly sweet. I didn’t like the crust as much as other places though, since it was dough-y, but the bf actually preferred crust like this. SERVICE: Our waitress was really kind and helpful. She came to check up on us a few times, and refilled our water when we wanted more. OVERALL: totally recommend this deli. For breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We will be back whenever we come back to Palm Springs!
