Sushi Zen Bistro

I will never go back there again. The owner is so rude and mistreats his employees. He doesn’t know how to treat his customers either. It’s sad because the food is actually great but because of the way he treats his customers I will never go back. We had the worst experience ever, we were a party of 14 who got up and left thanks to the owner.

Went back this week as it has been awhile and seen the B health department rating in the window. We decided at that time we were not eating there so turned around and went elsewhere.

Let’s start off with a B rating from the county. It’s always taken a long time to be seated or served but the food is good. This past trip my wife asked for something to be done mayo free and they refused. Wasn’t a problem in the past. Don’t waste your time. Spend a little more and go to Goldfish.

im very sorry to say this but what we ordered was a joke. the spicy shrimp ramen was literally like a cup of noodles with tiny shrimp and hardly any seasoning. in fact, i probably would have enjoyed a cup o’ noodles more and saved myself the money. im being serious. the chicken fried rice was edible but i strongly recommend that this business re-​evaluates their ingredients. im sure theyre trying to make ends meet with all the fancy décor and location, but if something isnt done soon, i can guarantee this business will close within the next year. please make changes.

This place has gone down hill like there is no tomorrow this use to be my favorite place to go to but today everything was absolutely horrible. I will never come back ever again the got my order wrong 3 times. The waiter was so rude and had such a big ass attitude problem. I don’t understand how you keep your doors open by treating people the way you do i will make sure everyone i know never walks threw these doors.

I’ve had sushi all over, Texas was the worse place but now this place ranks #1 for worse sushi ever! I’m not picky at all but the green muscles taste like salt water, the albacore, the tuna all taste like salt water, the octopus looked amazing but I could not eat my second piece, it tasted like an octopus got loose in the kitchen so they caught it and threw it in their mop bucket! After I ate everything I think salt water from the ocean tasted better then this sushi! One last thing, they play lame music!

I had been here once before a while ago and ordered 1 roll which I remember being good and at a good price but wasn’t so in love.
I came back in January right when they opened up for the day, and a group of 8 ordered all you can eat. There wasn’t anyone else in the restaurant and even then the service was incredibly slow. Took a while for us to even order drinks and then even longer after receiving them to place an order.
Pro’s for the all you can eat here is that it is at a reasonable price, includes many types of rolls and sushi as well as other items like veggie tempura and miso soup, also, even if you do not finish, you aren’t charged for that, just for the all you can eat price.
Con for all you can eat is that you can order as much as you want but cannot place any more orders until the first round is completely done. In a large group that is easy! Smaller, maybe not so much so probably get all you want in the first round and see how it works out.
Aside from the service being very, very, slow, the food was pretty damn delicious and I would like to give it another try.
Recommendations: scallops and lobster sushi is to die for!

This place is awful. I had the yellowtail sashimi, Cajun tuna and Diablo roll and man was it fishy. The only thing that was good was the shrimp tempura. I won’t be back here ever again. Last night was my first and last time.

Sushi Zen has to be my favorite spot to go to. The candy and lion roll are simply delicious. The service is quick and the sushi is fresh. Very impressed with this place.

Been to Zen Sushi numerous times. Went for happy hour, ordered everything off the happy hour menu, received bill owing double what it should have been. We asked a server and apparently in very fine print at the bottom of page it says no happy hour on holidays. Happy Presidents Day! Would have been nice if the server had said something or if the fine print was under the happy hour time frame where you could see it!!! Slow service. Will not be going back after this, if we knew we were going to spend that much money we would’ve went to Goldfish Sushi.

Starting off BAD. I asked my sushi to have jalapeños and siracha on and the server said «oh the chef is busy» NO HE IS NOT they’re so empty. LIAR AND LAZY. Then I ask him a couple things and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about… but I can say that the lady wearing a blue ribbon in her hair was very nice and she did go out of her way so thank you! The food could have been better but it wasn’t horrible. I don’t know if I would come back.

I have tried this place several times and have never been happy with it. The sushi pieces are small and not that impressive. The all you can eat menu is very small. The service is mediocre at best. Best bet is to do the happy hour option with the lower prices, but be sure you only order from the happy hour menu. Otherwise it gets expensive fast.

Ok, first time here. The name has always put me off but we decided to try it today.
I was impressed. HUGE portions.
The man got the spicy tuna roll, Ca roll and gyoza. It’s the combination bento box. It came with a salad, rice and Miso soup.
I got the bento box as well with mixed tempura, CA roll and teriyaki chicken.
We also got their crunch roll.
To put it simply. to much food!
We brought home the rice. .the salad and crunch roll.
We will be back!

Worst sushi. I have ever had, bar none. Popped in for a quick lunch, was vastly disappointed. I had a smoked salmon roll and a scallop roll. The smoked salmon was just a slab of fish on.rice.And the scallop literally tasted like catfood. when I voiced my disappointment, the waitress apologized, left the check and disappeared. I was so disgusted I paid and left already writing a review on. thier site. I later got very ill. You don’t need cheap sushi, this is not the sushi you were looking for, move along.

So we went again today, and I guess they are under new management, or they have made changes, but the portions were generous! Thick cuts, and the flavor was awesome! I would definitely give them a try now!

If you are craving delicious sushi, tasty rolls and a friendly atmosphere… SKIP this place and go somewhere else. Im in this area atleast once a month for work amd have always been curious about this spot. I shoulda let it die with the cat! The California Roll and spicy tuna roll were good. The scallop roll tasted like the scallops had just been thawed out and thrown in some mayo sauce #thumbsdown. Then happy hour came and we tried the tempura asparagus and shrimp roll as well as the baked salmon roll. My friend said everything tasted the same. They drenched the rolls in some sweet sauce which irritated my tastebuds. The chef that made our rolls was preoccupied answering his cell phone and watching tv so our rolls fell apart. I will never return

Sushi Zen has become a weekly ritual for me. The sushi is great quality at an affordable price. I like to go during happy hour so I can save a few bucks, and let me tell you my bank account loves it. For being such an inexpensive sushi restaurant the quality of fish is great. Always fresh. Although I did go around 9 pm one time and the rice didn’t taste fresh. But that’s because it had probably been sitting all day, my mistake for going that late anyways.
Happy Hour is from 3pm– 6pm then 9pm-​close. The drinks are extremely cheap which is always nice! Service here is great. Theresa is my favorite. She’s very attentive and sweet! I’ve always had exceptional service from her. She is always close by and never acts like I am bothering her with my requests. She’s very helpful and has a great attitude!

I must say I’ve read the reviews and it’s true. They are fairly new to the area. So they’re a little unorganized but that’s because they’re short staffed but they are hiring. So I see potential!
The food was very filling and delicious. All sushi place are not the same. In chronological order I love big tuna this place is #2 on my list and then there’s harbour. This place doesn’t use crazy amounts of condiments or sauces that over power the flavor.
My fiancé and I were very pleased the manager did have a delay with our order but he gladly compensated by taking special requests at no extra costs.

In short — if you stick to the happy hour prices, this place is a steal for sushi!
My wife and I like to go here when we want simple sushi on a budget. They have a happy hour from 3pm-6:00pm and then from 9pm-​close an hour later. During happy hour prices they have Spicy Tuna, California, Yellow Tail rolls, along with all sorts of vegetable sushi rolls for only $ 2.75! Last time we were there, we had 10 sushi rolls and drinks and walked out, completely stuffed, with a $ 34 bill! We’ve seen people on here complain about the service, but we’ve never had problems — we don’t mind flagging people down if we need to either. The staff have been nice enough to recommend menu items to us, and have even given us free sushi at the bar while we were hanging out.

I absolutely adore this place.
They are conveniently located near the mall (right next to bjs), and stay open until at least 10pm during the week.
I have been here many times and the staff has always been attentive, prompt & my food is always good.
Depending on how hungry I am, I will get the chicken teriyaki bento box OR I’ll get a bunch of rolls, seared salmon, California rolls, avocado rolls, etc, or ill just get shrimp & veggie tempura. Every single time I eat here I am delighted. Everything is so good!!!
As an added bonus this place is extremely pretty/​well decorated and the prices are low. This is me & my husbands go to spot for Japanese food!
