Best food around! Large menu. Best place for snowbirds!!! You can get a great steak or wonderfull seafood. Snowbirds please do not pass this up. The outdoor seating on the water is great lots of local wildlife to see. Inside seating is like going back in time to the good old days. Enjoy!!!

I will not return… no customer service… when we walked in, the hostest didn’t even greet us, she simply grabbed menus and started walking, my one daughter looks at me and says«do we follow her»…once we got to our table our waiter was little better but not much… food was horrible and way over priced… blast back to the past. this should be a good restaurant… they have a good location right on the water. As we left the same hostest just starred at us as we left, no thank you or please come back… nothing…needless to say we will not be returning

Our food was pretty good. Our waitress was very nice and super knowledgable about the menu and what pairs well with what. We’ll be back!

The defining seafood meal of our 2wk Florida visit. We almost got hit crossing the highway but so worth the scare. The king crab was succulent and melt in your mouth served with real butter. I can’t remember what else we got but we were so, so satisfied. I was charmed by the décor even if it was a bit dated, reminded me of one of my many visits to Florida in the 80s.

Decent and silent place. very good ambience. Sit outside if you can. You will have a beautiful view. The food is really tasty and good. The crab legs are amazing. We were 8 people and ordered many items. All were above average. Definitely worth trying

Large portions are the norm. We were there for lunch — just after they opened for the day. Service was good and attentive. The food — spinach salad doesn’t need to be covered with croutons. The salad itself with a warm bacon dressing was very tasty. Clam chowder this day was served with underdone potatoes and rubbery clams. The best part of my meal was the black beans. Beverages — mark-up on the beers, both draft and bottled, is ridiculous Stick with water, which is served with a piece of lemon. This visit was the first time we’ve been there since it changed to Sea Hut from Crab Trap I, Let’s just say our expectations were not met.

Excellent food with large portions. We found this to be close by the Florida Railroad Museum. The décor is interesting. I love the crab traps for light covers.

Excellent find! Casual not five star food but delicious well cooked seafood. The blue crab salad was loaded with crab on a fresh croissant can’t go wrong. The sweet potato chips were good but did his family except mom or her sunglasses not need the sugar cinnamon on top. Good for a Saturday afternoon jeans and shorts!

I took my parents here for lunch on Sunday because we were all craving seafood. I’m glad we went around 11 a.m. because it was still early and they weren’t busy yet. I had a New England Clam Chowder which I think is probably one of the best Clam Chowders I’ve had in the Manatee area. The Crab Cake was a little on the salty side but there were large pieces of crab meat in it. The Filet Sandwich I had was good, but nothing spectacular. My parents enjoyed the Fried Oysters but the Beef Tenderloin(add on to entrée) was extremely dry. I didn’t care for the décor here; everything looks old. I won’t go out of my way to dine here again but I may be back if I pass it on my way somewhere.

first let me start off with the crab… AMAZING! everything from the legs to crab in butter and lemon… sooooo good. the triple crab soup… its pretty good but it was a tad floury and you could really taste the cream, it was sort of bland. the wost… the Salad. my salad had wilted lettuce and some that was really wilted and slimy … gross. other than that. everything was great.

Crab soup was way too rich and had crab with shells in it. Décor is dated. Server was very friendly. Crab cake was ok. Overall very average food with poor atmosphere and friendly service. Will not come back.

I would definitely return to try other things. I was glad to see a menu that differs from the old tired Red Lobsta… loved the soft shell crabs!

We enjoyed the salmon flat bread. I would not order the crab quesadilla again but it wasn’t horrible. The blackens mahi-mahi burger was delicious. Ask for a seat on the deck out back if the weather is nice.

The food was good. The 3 crab soup was amazing. The service is what made me give it 3 stars. Chris our waiter started off slow and a little rude. He did pick it up near the end. Overall I will come back here again.

The perfect place to take my special man for date night! Crab Trap 1, aka Sea Hut, is pricier at $ 20 — $ 35 for their dinner selections, but worth it if you want to sit down to a nice seafood meal. The food was very good, the ambiance was cozy, and the service was great. Our server was sweet and spot on with her recommendations off the menu. We were so hungry and the entrees looked so good that we forgot to snap pictures. I forget what it was called, but I had the lobster, crab and shrimp in butter sauce. Very good, though a tad pricy considering the portion sizes. My boyfriend had the sampler plate with the gator bites, catfish filet and frog legs. The gator bites and catfish were tasty, but the frog legs lacked flavor. Even the mustard sauce didn’t do much to improve them. However, the portions of his meal were much bigger than mine, so if you’re coming with an appetite and like fried foods, this is a good deal. The spinach salad with warm bacon dressing is incredible. I would have it again. The honey puppies are like a deep fried corn muffin. They taste almost like a beignet but with a different consistency and bits of corn cooked into the dough. Very good, but perhaps better served as a dessert instead of an appetizer as they are so rich and sweet. The peanut butter pie was a perfectly decadent way to end the meal. Light, sweet, and chocolaty. As an aside, the sea salt scrub available in the restrooms smells wonderful but was too oily on my hands. It doesn’t soak in well, so you may not want to use this unless you have very dry skin.

Crab trap? What they mean is a bad food trap. So this review may not make the review of the day, but it will hopefully help customers choose a better seafood option in the area. The 2 stars are for the outdoor ambience. The lack of stars are for the food. The chips and pico: the chips tasted like they were from a bag found on a shelf after a couple years. The guac tasted like it came out of a bag. And the sour cream — oh nice, in a single serve cup. So you shop at Costco. Great. The breading on the calamari was less than tasty. The coconut shrimp tasted like it was from a microwave dinner. Remember, the 2 stars so far was from the river view. Very nice. Hopefully this sad review will be buried by the time you guys discover you’re in the restaurant business — not the Costco resale business. Come on crab trap. Be a crab shack!

We have to take more rides out in the country. We were down Apollo Beach taking in some local festivities and wife Unilocaled local seafood. Up came Crab Trap I. Off we go to Palmetto. Outside this place is just another Florida beach dive and inside is too but it is nicer than that, it looks like an old school New England Chowder House. Cher waited on us flawlessly and made recommendations as to what was good(everything) and what was super spectacular(everything). We took her up on the spinach salads with warm bacon dressing. Listen, this was insanely good. Super fresh, slightly sweet, slightly warm. A big bowl of this for dinner with some crusty sour dough would be perfect. My meal, 2 crab cakes with rice pilaf was really really really good. The cakes, almost all lump Maryland crab were killer. The pilaf suffered from old age, it was a bit dry but who cares, I was consumed by the crab cakes as I consumed them. Wife’s meal, Crab Norfolk, the equivalent of lazy lobster for all you Mainers, was outstanding. Nothing but lump crab in a butter/lemon sauce with baked sweet potato wedges with cinnamon sugar. Two glasses of house Chardonnay washed it down. We split a made from scratch on the premises slice of key lime pie that was outstanding. We left groaning from the experience now being Thanksgiving full. Take a ride to the country, never know what you might find.

Wow, what a nice find! A throw back in time kind of place. Old New England rustic charm with a nautical theme. Not the most up to date, but I like a place with this kind of charm. Reminds me of home, Rhode Island. Our waitress, Cher, was what my husband would call a real«pip» ! You know that kind of waitress who is a little loud, great sense of humor, flirty, calls ya Honey and really knows her stuff. Felt like we had been friends forever. I swear she could read our minds, and never did we have to ask for anything. Awesome service! We both had a glass of the house Chardonay and it was very good. Then we both had the spinach salad with house made warm bacon dressing. Awesome! Very fresh spinach with shaved parmaesan cheese and croutons. Dressing tasted of bacon but also had a sweetness to it. 1st bite was a bit strange! but by the time you were finished you just wanted more. My entrée was the Norfolk Crab, which is nothing more than«lazy mans crab». Crab chunks in lemon butter. Yes! And sweet potato wedges with cinnamon sugar on it! OMG! I was in heaven. Hubby had the Maryland crab cakes with rice pilaf. I think I saw a tear in his eye!!! These crab cakes were 90/95% crab! very little filler. And for dessert we shared their homemade Key Lime Pie. Now I’m not usually a fan because it is either too tart or gritty. This was delicious. Highly recommend everything we ate this evening. The cost was a little high. Each entrée was $ 22. Wine 5.75 a glass. Dessert $ 5. I don’t care, the cost was worth every bite!
