The Audible Difference will be relocating operations to its sister store Future Sound Design Group in Burlingame California Effective September 15^th 2013.

I walked in carrying a ‘70s vintage Garrard turntable I wanted to restore. After a somewhat awkward introduction, Matt helped me select a basic Grado phono pickup cartridge — installed it & adjusted the tone arm at no charge, and tried it out on his demo setup. Now it works fine — who could ask for more?

I walked in and browsed around for a while, which is not very helpful as there aren’t any prices. Once I approached the salesperson, he gladly took me through auditioning about 10 or so sets of loudspeakers, with no attitude, just patience helpfulness and no pressure. The B&Ws didn’t do anything for me but everyone’s taste is different. I was surprised to find how different setups work better for different kinds of music, so it depends on what you listen to also. I liked the Thiels a lot but ended up buying something else at another store. These guys were very pleasant to deal with however. They have a number of options under $ 1K, going skyward from there. If you are looking for something a step up from the electronics stores and have a little money to spend, I recommend giving this place a look. They will let you listen as much as you want!

Matt is a great guy. He has been helpful everytime I have been there. He is very easy to deal with. Service is great. Prices are fair.

I noticed the web site is down and when driving by the place looks empty. I think the Palo Alto store is closed for good, as itt has looked ths way for a couple of months now. Hope I am wrong, as they were the local source for Focal speakers, my current favorites.

Great high end audio video specialist gear. McIntosh, Mark Levinson, Wilson X, and the like. Unfortunately the people who worked there probably deemed I wasn’t able to afford anything. I walked through and not one person talked to me. Oh well, I’ll be taking my purchasing elsewhere.
