I’ve eaten here twice. Over priced, drive down the hill or BBQ your own steak, it will probably taste just as good and you will feel better you didn’t spend a whole lot on a dinner that was overpriced for a poor tasting meal!

My wife and I come here at least twice a month. The Staff is awesome, its smalltown friendly, and everyone is always attentive. Ive ordered The Wellington which is always cooked to Perfection, my wife Prefers the The Neptune. The Wild Salmon is also excellent. On New Years the Long Island Ice Tea should have been Strong Island Ice Tea(NOCOMPLAINTSHERE) and as for the crowd, I believe Paradises population is 55% retired. Thats why I moved here from Downtown Sacramento. I love it, best Restaurant in Paradise.

I’m reviewing Smokie’s as a karaōke spot. The staff is very kind. The crowd is sweet, and trends older(like septuagenarians). That stuff is all fine. Where Smokie’s breaks down as a karaōke spot is, the KJ doesn’t follow a rotation. He plays first come, first serve. That doesn’t work for karaōke. A group of friends and I arrived at 10pm on a Friday, and did not have our first song until 11:35pm. Karaōke ends at midnight. The lack of a rotation is a huge issue if karaōke only lasts a few hours. In general, people shouldn’t sing twice before another person has had at even one turn. You keep track of singers and adjust accordingly. Rarely is this an issue. Finally, the KJ’s equipment died three times in the time we were there. I am not sure if that is out of the ordinary for him, but I haven’t ever seen it happen. I think I would give Smokie’s a chance as a steakhouse, because of the friendly staff, decent selection of beverages, and reputation for great steaks, but I’m not going back for karaōke.

If you really are into great food if you want to spend $$$ money for quality food I would advise you to head down to Chico! Paradise is not well known for quality restaurants and especially this place!!! Not a friendly place also never had a good meal way over price for what you get. The only time I enjoyed the meal was when they didn’t own it somebody else had it 5 or 6 years ago but unfortunately didn’t have it that long before the current owners got it back.

Chose bake potato and had their Caesar salad with home made croûtons! Delicious! The people were friendly the staff was awesome and the owners were engaging! I will be back!

We came away with mixed feelings about the food and the inconsistent prices. I had the regular dinner salad which looked like from a diner– head lettuce, beans, shredded carrots, tomato, cucumber and slice of beet. It was fresh but boring. My husband had Caesar salad which was really good. The prices for dinner range from $ 15.99 to over $ 30. My husband had a nice new York steak dinner for $ 15.99 with salad, baked potato and vegetable, this was best deal on menu. I had the calamari for $ 25, portion huge and good but would of preferred smaller portion for a smaller price, my vegies and rice had to come on a side plate. The prices seem to be high for Paradise and varied. Some things seemed way over priced for ribs and pasta. Our waitress was new, nervous and a bit chatty. There was a group in bar that were extremely loud and they should of shut doors to bar so diners could enjoy their dinner. There was a gentleman playing a piano in dining room, music was good but loud if you were sitting next to him. It is like they are trying to be a high end dinner place out of a steak and rib restaurant.

Let’s start with this. They stopped serving us due to my wify actively breastfeeding. My wife did cover herself and positioned herself so no one would even know what she was doing. So we sat without food or drinks until she finished breastfeeding. Soon as our little one was done and back in his seat here came our waiter. On top of this our food came out ice cold and undercooked. My steak was completely raw. When I asked for it to be cooked to medium as I ordered it came back burnt and very well done. I will never go back. Not one good experience.

If you are thinking of going to this place, keep driving. The food is extremely expensive and the quality of the food is very marginal. We ordered a couple of filet mignon’ s @ 30.00+/piece and not only were the steaks old and beginning to turn, they at face value were extremely small. The salad was very ordinary and the mashed potatoes and soup were cold and no better than one would find at a family national chain restaurant. I view this restaurant as a huge rip-off. Just an opportunity or the owner to extract big bills from your wallet.

I took my wife here for a date. The food was good. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant was not good. We sat by the entrance to the kitchen. The wall was absolutely filthy going into the kitchen! All I could think of is how does the kitchen we can’t see look. If the area we could see looked like this! I think being the only restaurant like this in Paradise has been what kept them open. I have learned for piece of mind I will drive to Chico as much as I hate to!

Have seen the place for years when visiting Paradise and had always heard that it was lacking so we never tried it. Moved here two years ago and were invited to a birthday dinner by friends at their choosing. Should have declined as I really hated wasting their money. Fish was fried beyond recognition, ribs were tough and the wait was unbearable. Did not complain as we were guests but will not be returning. Really a shame as it has the potential to be the«special dinner» place in Paradise. I think their main draw is that they have a cocktail lounge.

My husband and I went to Smokie Mountain for dinner mainly to try the Beef Wellington. My husband ordered it(medium rare) and the meat was cooked perfectly and was quite good. I ordered a petite cute Prime Rib, medium rare. It was pretty well done when it was served and was a little chewy for my taste. We did inform the waitress and she offered a new cut. I don’t send meals back to the kitchen as you’re never quite sure what you’ll get back so I shared my husband’s dinner. The service overall was great, very attentive staff. Not sure if we’ll return for a second go at it.

Me and thee, oh my! I have put this off for a couple of months, as I hate giving bad reviews. However, this was one not-so-comedy of errors. We thought we were going to the best Steakhouse on the ridge. «Oops» to that conclusion. It was a special occasion and we were a party of four. THEABSOLUTEWORSTSERVICEWEHAVEEVERHAD! To top that off, 3 out of the 4 meals were shockingly pathetic. Beef ribs were dry and tasteless. Two different steaks ordered: The first ordered medium-well was bloody and had to be sent back. Taste was non-existent; size was child size. The second: Ordered rare, and came so overcooked it was unrecognizable. We didn’t want to wait another hour to get the steak fixed right, so we just gave up.(If we weren’t with guests we would have complained to the manager. The only decent meal was the beef wellington(however, the portion was tiny). We were humiliated to have taken our guests there with a final cost of approx. $ 200.00 for the four of us. I sincerely hope we caught them on a SUPERBAD night, but we will never go there again. The leftover meat was taken home and fed to the dogs. Inedible at the restaurant and okay for«Fido», I suppose. I always like to give at least one positive. As we were walking out of the restaurant, pondering an inexcusable dining experience, we did enjoy the singer out on the patio entertaining outside. One star goes to the outside entertainment!

The wait for our table was unacceptable, we stood in the host area where we were finally greeted after about 10 minutes of standing around by a snotty, irritable woman who clearly did not have time for us, we were told 10 minutes. We watched the table we were waiting for vacated after 15 minutes, which is fine, except after that it took another 35 just to clear said table and seat us, as we watched four other tables, who arrived after us, seated before us. The –waitstaff– was appoligetic and kind, but rushed and frantic resulting in slower services. Considering the tables/staff ratio, there should not have been such a problem, somewhere along the line someone on this staff obviously was dropping the ball… The prices were high, yes, but were planning to go out for a nice evening so we expected to get what we were paying for. Not the case. The salads were of a mediocre quality and the entrees left something to be desired. The plate presentation was not pleasing. The beans looked canned and burnt, the horseradish mashed potatoes were exactly that –with nothing else in them– making them taste bland, dry and mealey, the veg was a few sauteed processed baby carrots that had been cooked to mush; they looked like they came from the frozen isle. The ONLY thing about the meal that was acceptable were the steaks. Their beef is exceptional, tender and juicy, and cooked to the proper temp although underseasoned, but that can be expected. Yes, I would happily pay 40 dollars a plate with cuts of beef like that but not when the rest of the spread looks like it came from a frozen t.v. dinner. Our server did her best and was very sweet and attentive as she could be. Sadly first impressions are key and we were very unimpressed with what was supposed to be the impressive place to go in this little town; we will not be returning. Perhaps the exec chef should go back to school or attend a seminar… and maybe surgically removing the ‘stick’ from the host would not be a terrible idea either. This would be one star had the smiling server and the steaks not saved the day.

My husband took me for dinner. The dining room was over crowded. Most people including us had to stand and wait a good amount of time, while we stared at empty tables. When I found a hair under my prime rib the owners wife(Pam) interrupted my waitress, LOUDLY, over the entire restaurant to let me know that«it had never happened in 30 years». As if it was my fault. She wasn’t able to ruin my meal though, the food is wonderful, but you might want to get it to go the atmosphere sucks. Good food almost makes up for a rude crass owner. Customers first you dumb cow. Maybe her husband needs to rethink having her work in his restaurant.

Their steak is very good but overall the menu is very dated. They have an abundance of deep fired appetizers reminiscent of the seventies… It’s time to move into the nineties… maybe add some bruschetta? The bar scene however is a hoot. The karaōke performance is worth a couple of beers.

One of the worst meals ever. There were six of us in our party, so we had prime rib, filets, pork ribs and chicken tenders. Every beef dish was undercooked, and the medium rare prime rib was still bleeding, besides being tough and stringy. Except for being undercooked, the filets were tender and good. The pork ribs were average. The garlic mashed potatoes had no seasoning, let alone garlic flavor. The sauteed zucchini and onions were raw and greasy. One person ordered a Caesar salad, which turned out to be the regular dinner salad with Caesar dressing on the side, I’m sure from a bottle. The reason that we didn’t send the meat back was that the wait from the salad course to the main course was interminable. When the main course arrived, the waitress almost dropped the tray with all six dinners on it, but managed to save five of them. The staff was attentive, but I think they were hampered by the pace the food was coming out of kitchen. There was someone playing Christmas music on a piano in the dining room, a touch which I would normally applaud, but the dining area is relatively small, and very loud, so conversation was difficult. I would have given it one star, except that the wait staff tried so hard. The prices would be acceptable in a high quality steakhouse, but it’s a rip off and sad when the best meal was the eight-year old’s chicken tenders.

Wife and I had dinner just last Friday 12÷09÷11, wife had a pasta meal while I had a seafood pasta, we both agree best we’ve had in a long time, service was great. We are looking to going back one night next week. As for the price for the amount of food you get is very reasonable. Had to take half of our dinner home, had for lunch the next day and again, GREAT!
