I’m always surprised at the taste of the diner food here. Plus their hash browns are the best in town. Service is fast but not always the friendliest.

I was visiting my mother who lives in Paradise, and she took me to this wonderful diner. I had the fish and chips, which were very good, and my mother had the chili, which she loved. The wait staff were courteous and efficient. I had homemade boysenberry pie to die for and Mom had the custard, which she said was great. Thumbs up, from Bowling Green, OH

I’ve been enjoying Kalico Kitchen since the day it opened! Feel good comfort food in a small town atmosphere. The brosted chicken dinner is my favorite. Wait staff are top notch.

always good.(8 – 10 times) now we’re hooked on their 8pc dinner w/potatoes, cole-slaw, & gravy. gr8 for the 3 of us(adults). $ 22 total w/a5buck tip– cheaper than fast-food run’s, & healthier.

My family recently had brunch here, there were 6 of us. The menu is extensive, and we had a difficult time choosing. Every plate that was delivered near us made it more difficult. We finally decided and everyone was delighted with their choice! We will be back for sure. It was very busy when we were there, but service was very quick and friendly.

I have eaten here 4 times in the 42 years I have lived in Paradise. Each time, roughly ten years apart, I guess, the food has been horrible. I honestly have absolutely no idea what these reviewers are thinking rating this dinner a 4 star restaurant let alone a 5. This is a diner, it’s at best a 3 star place to eat. I eat out probably twice a week. This is the last place in town I would consider. I seriously don’t even know anyone in town who eats here. I would avoid it, personally. I feel horrible for people who come to town and read reviews and think this place is filled with 4 start + dining. It isn’t, and this place isn’t.

Looking at the place, it was small and unassuming. Entering in, it is a throw back to a simpler time. My family and I were greeted and treated nicely by the staff. Our booth was nothing special and that is the only reason I gave this place a 4 versus a 5. I understood what I was getting eating at a small diner in a small town, but there were pleasant surprises along the way. First, I could order breakfast at any time. Second, the portion sizes were large for the prices they were charging. On average, the prices were $ 5 less then places in the valley that would be comparable. Finally, I enjoyed a large breakfast burrito that was worth my $ 8, but after tasting my wife’s Philly Cheese, I knew she chose much better. It was amazing. It will be my next order for sure. Well worth the time and money.

Food here is always good, nothing fancy just typical diner style food. Breakfast is served at all times which is awesome and the staff is always friendly and attentive. The cooks and wait staff are also good at making sure your order is correct, I like my bacon and hashbrowns crispy and they never dissapoint.

I just dinned in at this wonderful establishment with my mother and father. We had a great experience, thanks to our fantastic server and the amazing broasting skills of the cook. We indulged in the eight piece broasted chicken and I can’t thank the most, lovely server on the planet, more! She was such a delight as, she is friendly, charismatic and super charming. I absolutely, love how she helped us figure out what we wanted and appreciate how she encountered the local folk, during our stay. If, you’re in Paradise, Ca and in the mood for chicken, swing through. We’ll be back, mos def!!!

I was in town with my friend to visit her Mom who lives nearby. We stopped by Kalico Kitchen for a hearty breakfast before hitting the road. We sat outside on the patio on a beautiful morning. I didn’t order anything fancy, two eggs, potatoes, and toast, but the food was great and service very friendly and attentive. I would go back if I were closeby again!

Met up with a friend here one early weekday afternoon. We were quickly seated with a smile and I shoved my newborn sons car seat next to me in the tight booth. Although a small country diner, the placed bustled with obvious regulars and some were greeted with a handshake and hug from the energetic manager. Great service, attentive but not intrusive. Our food came out quickly and warm. Nothing special but it’s exactly what you expect going to eat at place like this. I’m sure that it’s consistency is what draws the elderly population in my town to frequent the place. They draw comfort from knowing what to expect and are never disappointed. On a side note, the prices are very reasonable and the outdoor seating was a nice addition. Come eat where the locals eat and where your coffee mug is never empty.

We appreciate the value, food selection and kindness of staff. Breakfast is our favorite meal there. I especially appreciate that when we order egg whites that the quantity is definitely sufficient. Kids eat for something like one dollar everyday with an adult meal. This place is our usual ‘go to’ when in Paradise.

I already talked about Chico, the one place in the North State people covet living in. Those with less money and/or who want nothing to do with the college live up the hill, reached via the sharply inclined Skyway, up in Paradise. Is it Paradise? Well, it has a lot of nice trees. Is it a time warp? Yes. Are there many food choices? No. That means that, unless you hit up a chain, Kalico has a captive audience. This is where everybody in Paradise, and adjacent Magalia, seemingly head to on a weekend morning for their large breakfasts. How’s the food? It tasted just like any other multifaceted breakfast platter I’ve had, meaning«it did the trick.» How’s the service? They’re nice. After all, they presume they will probably see you again. This is actually a retirement community and a low-cost option to Chico, so people are very down to earth. I seriously think anybody from the«flyover» zone who thinks California is full of hot-tubbers should move here and they’ll be pleasantly surprised, and fit right in! I was once on a flight from NorCal to Portland and spoke to a young lady, a recent college grad, who was living in Paradise with her parents but working in Chico. She said that even Starbucks had done their homework, choosing NOT to put a store in Paradise, with over 25,000 people. Hmmm …
