Very disappointed that Chakra marked my reservation canceled through OpenTable after I showed up and ate at your restaurant. And this is after I checked in at the front desk and they confirmed that had my reservation.

I love the curtained booth seating & live music. The atmosphere is intimate with candle lit tables, great for a date night. I don’t recommend coming here hungry as the plates are pretty small. overall a positive experience.

Hands down one of my new favorite places! From the moment you walk in, you get the«wow» factor. Very visually appealing bar and lounge area with couches and tables near the bar. The waitstaff impeccable, on point with serving and recommendations. Try the crispy tofu as an appetizer. It was cooked perfectly. The eggplant main dish was definitely a different taste but incredibly delicious. My husbands fish dish he said was very good too. Our friends got the hangar steak and the truffle fries. Everything in this restaurant is plated perfectly. It’s all just very statically pleasing to. The fun part was the end for dessert. We got the macarons with cotton candy topping. The macarons reminded me of Paris but the cotton candy made me think I was a kid again. We will definitely be back again and again and again. A great Saturday night out!

Chakra is one of my favorite local restaurants. We go here A LOT(twice this week). Since the menu is seasonal, you can’t get bored and their cocktail menu is sublime!(The presentation of the Apple Candy cocktail is too freakin’ cool, and the balance in the Nutty Pear just makes life better! lol) This is not a «cheap date» type of place by any means, but the food is SO good(and beautifully plated), you won’t be upset that you lost half the contents of your wallet before dessert. On my most recent visits I’ve been obsessed with the Black Linguini which is squid ink pasta with shrimp and tomato consommé whose leftovers I dreamt about and proceeded to eat for breakfast the following day. Hubby had a white asparagus and morel mushrooms appetizer special accompanied by a gorgeous hollandaise that nearly made my eyes roll back in my head and I don’t even like asparagus… and the key lime englaise dessert… I could have licked it off the plate but I restrained myself. Other reviews note service issues, and I will admit that I have had a catch and go service experience, but definitely more positive than negative and never anyone being rude or snotty, only occasionally I would say the waiter/waitress didn’t «add anything» to my experience. On a recent visit, our waiter, Pierre was FANTASTIC and as professional as they come. We will request him when we go back next time :)

Stopped in Friday night for dinner. Waiter provided excellent service. Dinner was up to par … But the 1 star rating is for the horrible cocktails. If your going to have a premium Cocktail menu, please know how to properly make a drink. bourbon sour. Will not return …

My mom and I came to Chakra to try their food, and we loved the food! I got a poma sutra(pomegranate cocktail) and it was tasty. The Chilean sea bass sushi roll was well made, the fish was fresh and flaky but creamy. I got the salmon and my mom got beef, both of which were cooked exactly to order and full flavored. The passion fruit ice cream was great in texture but very tart. The service was fantastic in the beginning but then our waiter disappeared during dessert and when we tried to get the check. We had to find someone else to close out for us, and I just found it odd. The waiter was nice, so maybe to give him the benefit of the doubt something occupied him. I think this place would be great for special occasions.

I have been meaning to go to this restaurant, and a friend of mine actually came in a few weeks before to check it out and let me know how it was. She was satisfied with her meal so of course I was going to be critical of my own experience. The ambience and décor are spot on; the seating was soooo comfortable and the service was excellent. All my needs and requests were met with perfect hospitality and enthusiasm. The drinks we ordered were good and refreshing. We started off the night with two appetizers: the lobster ravioli and the grilled octopus. The lobster ravioli had a wonderful mixture of flavors and textures, and I loved the presentation. The grilled octopus was probably my favorite dish out of everything; they were perfectly tender and the sauce and cilantro salad was just perfect. For my entrée, I ordered a medium top sirloin lamb which came out wonderfully tender. There was a bit too strong of a taste of thyme for me, but paired with the purée, bacon bits, and sweet potato, it was excellent. I also has a taste of the hanger steak with chimichurri sauce. The outside of the steak was fantastically crunchy while the inside remained tender. I loved it. The sea bass was tender as well, great flavors, and the shrimp and potato on a stick was a wonderful surprise. Biting into it I didn’t expect such a delicious and large serving of shrimp! For dessert, I asked for a white pear tea which was yummy; it had a hint of pear flavor which made me want to drink more. We also got the macaron tree, and the myriad of macaron flavors were all excellent; personally I loved the caramel one the most. The cotton candy on top gave it a cute, whimsical look that I adored. I absolutely recommend Chakra for a night out with friends or to celebrate a special occasion. It was wonderful! I can’t wait to dine here again.

Went for mine and my friend’s birthday last night and the food was good. However, I could barely see what I was eating cause it’s so dark and the prices are very high for small portions. I.e. The«shareable» calamari is served in the same size container as the side dish French fries are and one basic spicy tuna roll I believe was $ 14. The man who took our reservation asked if we would be there for a special occasion and I told him it was mine and my friends birthday. I also informed the waiter that we were there for our birthdays and received nothing. Almost every other restaurant I’ve ever been to for a birthday at least gives you a piece of cake or complimentary drink. We received nothing. Not to mention our bill was $ 500. I was a bit surprised that the dining room was empty on a Friday night but after finishing our meal I realized why. Won’t be back.

Happened to stop by with a girlfriend for just appetizers and a dessert. Didn’t know what to expect and ended having an Amazing meal! I cannot stress how delicious everything was! Dan, our waiter was so knowledgeable and simply dashing! He provided so much information regarding the menu items and TRUSTHISRECOMMENDATIONS! And request him if you can! Decadent atmosphere and food! Will definitely return!

The place is definitely lavish looking but the service was mediocre. I had the ravioli, the Brussel sprouts and the hanger steak. The steak was ridiculously salty and gold when it got to me. The ravioli and sprouts were DRENCHED in oil. I mean oil was slipping all over and I could pour it off the plate. The menu has no variety. For the ridiculous cost of all the food it was just barely near«okay». I got the one hot cucumber drink and they forgot the lime juice. I had no heart to complain because the service was just pissing me off. We had ordered fries which never came and when we brought it up the waiter just nodded. Then he said he’d take it off the bill.(Obviously you have to? Why would pay for food you never received??) they would ask how the food was, as soon as they set the plate down — let me at least have a bite so I can complain! But the beignets were good.

My cousin came to visit from overseas so I thought it would be a nice place to take her. I made reservations and was a little late and the host made sure it was no problem which I loved. We ordered 2 rounds of the Pear and Lychee Martini for drinks they were delicious. For food we ordered the The crab cakes, sea bass, salmon, truffle fries, and Brussels sprouts. When the food came there was a long piece of hair on my food and I immediately told the waiter. He took the plate back and informed me I would get a fresh one. A couple of minutes later he returns and tells me that no one in the kitchen has blonde hair so it’s not theirs, but they are making me a fresh plate anyway. This pissed me off so much I was so close to getting up and leaving but I decided to stay and enjoy my dinner since I was getting a fresh plate. Not even 1 minute later the manager returns with my plate and goes all new. They didn’t even bother making me a new plate they just removed the hair and brought me the same plate and this aggravated me even more. I knew that plate was my old one because I had taken a small bite of the food before I realized it had hair. I decided to drop it because I didn’t want to make a scene so I just picked at my cousins plate instead. Then when the bill came they had changed me for soda which we didn’t even have. We had martinis and Pellegrino water. I informed the waiter and he goes ohh I can take care of that for you«if you want» I’m sorry but that’s not the way you handle customers especially if you have already messed up on their order. Terrible service from the waiter and extremely unacceptable behavior from the restaurant manager. If there’s hair on my food you make me a new plate and apologize not make excuses and give back the old plate. And if there’s extra charges on a bill you take care of it not say if you want I can take care of it. I just got pissed and paid my $ 200 bill including the extra charges that were not even mine and left! Never again, not worth it. This place doesn’t even deserve one star but there is no zero stars, that’s what this place deserves.

I heard good things about this restaurant, especially the chef, and was excited to eat here. Aesthetically, the interior was nice, but tired. The waiter who served us was very attentive, but didn’t seem very well trained. He forgot several items and I had to ask another waiter for bread and water. We ordered several drinks, including the Habanero margarita, which was terrible. We ordered the ravioli, the beet salad, the ribeye, the Chilean bass, the pork; and for dessert, the dacqouise, the semifreddo, and the ice cream. The ravioli was extraordinary, but the salad, the bass, and the desserts were only average. The pork and the steak were terrible. The pork was flavorless and almost raw, and the steak was so salty I could not eat it. I was told it was prepared by someone who normally doesn’t work at the restaurant, and asked that the chef supervise the cooking of the new steak. However, when it arrived it was cold, almost raw and completely without any salt. I decided to take it home and finish cooking it myself. For a restaurant of this level, with a celebrated chef, our experience was very disappointing

Came here with a group of friends. This place is quite lavish looking. The theme is great, the designs suit it so well. Definitely a lovely place. The old Indian sculptures in the wall all the way to the lighting provide quite a unique vibe. I think this place would be better off as a nice lounge. The food was severely lacking taste to me. It looks great and presentation wise you definitely get a high end vibe here, but actual taste of food was just mediocre at best. I truly mean that lol, it was medicore. I understand that not everyone has similar taste buds and some people might find the taste great, but sitting at a table with 3 other people and 3 different palates… we all felt the same, in fact my buddy said the place deserves two stars. I just appreciate the vibe and décor more than he did. Out of the food we ordered the most memorable was the sushi but was a tad bit overpriced. The hanger steak, it was above average. The worst had to be the truffle fries. Just eww, I mean I feel the word truffle was abused when it came to these fries. Never again should those fries be served unless you just love potatoes. That being said, if you are all about high end feel, you will enjoy this place visually but I just think the food was bland and not worthy of me paying this place a visit again. Tons of places that better tasting food for a fraction of the price, and there a tons of places that have just as good art and high end vibe that are less pricey with better food :) No offense to any of you fans of this place!

I want to preface by saying that I rate restaurants first and foremost on 3 main things: the food, the service and the ambiance. My friends threw me a surprise 30th intimate birthday dinner here on a Friday evening, and it was definitely a great ambiance for a classy but low key dinner experience. Our waiter was not too friendly, nor did he seem to enjoy serving our table, and we all felt that vibe throughout the dinner. We ordered some appetizers but focused mainly on the main dish and all ordered something different. The sushi for appetizers as well as the beet salad were delicious, and everyone was very pleased with their dinner as well. I believe that when you are celebrating a birthday(especially a 30th) in an establishment that is rather expensive and classy, you expect the service to match the price and quality of the meal. That was not the case for our dinner experience. Our disinterested waiter forgot to bring out the cupcakes that were made for me and given to him before dinner to place in fridge, and brought out a plate with a raspberry(let me reiterate. ONE raspberry), with a candle inside. We could not stop laughing at how mortifying and ridiculous it looked on a plate(cupcakes were brought out after my friend reminded him). The one thing that I think really stood out for me, is the fact that they charged for ICE… yes ice in the knob creek drinks the men ordered that night. It wasn’t special ice such as a whiskey ball, but plain tiny bits of ice. I’ve dined in many fine dining establishments and michelin star restaurants globally, and have never been charged for plain ice. So in summary, food 4 stars, ambiance 4 – 5 stars, service and waitstaff 2 stars

My all time FAVORITE!!! I bumped into this place back in 2009 by mistake. I was driving and my date now wife for 6 years and my step daughter were hungry. I saw this place and thought well it looks like nothing much from outside so I pulled in. To my surprise it became my favorite from first taste; I had the T. C Steak and I was gone and in love! Grass fed, aged, organic Steak. It just melts in your mouth. My wife had the fish and oh My Goodness that fish was cooked to perfection I believe it was the halibut. We only had that to eat that night but my wife and I came back try it again and sat at the bar and order all the appetizers to have with our great drinks! The Crab cake is by far one of our favorite is the best crab cake I ever had to be honest. Recently I had a 46 Ounce bone in ribeye!!! And it was Out of this world!!! I think I had the whole menu by now and I can’t say I ever anything that was bad. Even when trying things that before I would not try this place has made them my favorite. Check them out worth every penny!!!

Love this spot! If you want a great date spot with flavorful food, this is the place to be! Very romantic atmosphere and good service. I highly recommend the foie gras pizza! It was so tasty and flavorful. The texture was really nice too. They have a full bar, although I was disappointed they didn’t have any mint for mojitos. The prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for. The ambiance. The food. The service.

Rob the bartender was amazing! I’ll tell you why. He knew his shit! I was throwing recipes at him, he was throwing it right back. We spoke about different bourbons and he showed me a few from the shelves. I was so impressed. I wanted him to make me something special, something I never had. It was called the Rebel. Similar to an old fashion but the fruits were infused black cherries and a slice of orange, all smashed up with a few basil leaves! My jaw dropped when I had my first sip. The smooth oak taste with a light basil finish was something I’d never imagine. When he went on to prepare the espresso martini, requested by someone special with special instructions, he nailed it! Rob was so entertaining and friendly that I couldn’t keep him too long to ourselves since he had to take care of other customers at the bar. Nevertheless, we did enjoy hearing his funny bartending stories. Oh do I miss bartending! Because we were so into the drinks and had a light lunch earlier in the day. I pushed to order food before getting too BLITZ! It was fried calamari and chicken nuggets to share. Recommend both. And, no they are not McDonald’s chicken nuggets. Inside: tender — juicy and white. Outside– soft crisp crunch, smother with what I like to call BBQ sauce. Mmm-mmm! With the calamari, I thought it was fried perfectly. Freshness in every bite. Even the fried hot peppers were fresh. And the two sauces were SAVORY! Bottom line, Rob did a great job in providing us with festive experience. I will be back again.

Décor: 5 star; food: 2 star; service: 3 star ________________ The building really doesn’t look that attractive from the outside and you would’ve never thought there’d be a huge parking lot in the back(which was almost full when we came in at 8:45pm on Saturday night). As recommended, we sat at the bar to get a drink while waiting to be seated. Not sure what the point of that was, as the hostess came for us even before we had a chance to take a sip. Fine. We took it with us to our table. We got a corner table seat on the couch, which was awesome. The waiter was a bit standoffish and never smiled. He didn’t come by often either, so I had to ask one of the other waiters to get me another drink. First thing the waiter tells us is that«there’s no specials tonight.» We ended up ordering the marinated grilled tofu and grilled Portuguese octopus as appetizers, and the salmon medallion and chili-cinnamon glazed Chilean sea bass for dinner. All of our dishes were meh. I was utterly disappointed with how the food did not match up to the price or the overall feel of the restaurant. The salmon was a bit dry, and the dressing/sauce was a bit too salty while being a bit nauseatingly creamy. The Chilean sea bass — and fyi, we asked if the cinnamon would be a bit overpowering(to which the waiter answered no), was just pathetic. It didn’t taste fresh, and in fact, the cinnamon shouldn’t even be considered in making that dish because yes, it was overpowering. The one and only somewhat good thing was the grilled Portugese octopus. But how hard is that to make? The grilled marinated tofu was likewise unimpressive. The table next to us ordered sushi rolls and they looked like they were cut with a very old knife, with seaweed pulling off the edges of each piece. Glad we voted against it. Now, for the décor — holy cow. I was NOT expecting the beautiful atmosphere. There’s little stars on the ceiling and I loved the added touch of curtains throughout — made me feel like I was in a cabana on a starry summer night. With that said. again, the food sucked. The drinks were fine — for the price, could be better. This place is a NJ restaurant with very very low subpar food with near-NYC prices. The restaurant itself gave off an NYC feel, but nothing more.
