When I was a kid, coming here was like viewing a solar eclipse. I can literally count how many times my parents took me here when I was kid. …and it was never to buy toys. Before Babies R Us, you could purchase formula and baby stuff at Toys R Us. Imagine the tragedy of walking through a toy store just to purchase Enfamil! Yeah, my sister and I joke about it now, but back then, going to Toys R Us was one of the worst things my Dad put us through. That’s what happens when you grow up poor. This store has been here since the early 80s, maybe even longer than that. They were here when Bambergers and A&S were the anchors at Bergen Mall. Yeah, I still call it Bergen Mall, I’ll never call it Bergen Towne Center. But Toys R Us is nice I guess. There are plenty of checkstands and returns are done at a different counter. It saves on time and it makes people think twice about returning when the line is ridiculously long. It’s torture time…
