I really hate to give this place two stars, but I’m not sure why it is so highly ranked. It is a family mom and pop diner through and through… and is what you would expect from such. Home cooking menu filled with comfort food. No yuppie tendencies to be found here. Service is exceptional. You are greeted when walking into the door and multiple servers will assist. The owner will often stop by and say hi. However, the food leaves much to be desired. Overly greasy and flavorless. I have left each time feeling as if my insides were dipped into a McDonalds fryer without any pleasure to my taste buds making up for it. Disappointing, as I love family diners and home cooked food.

This place has the best home cooking! The biscuits and gravy are amazing. I always find something on the specials board to eat and have never been disappointed. It’s family run and it shows– in a good way.

If you are a member of the diner set, this place needs to become your home base. It’s probably the best breakfast in Kalamazoo– all the traditional items you want, and daily specials to whet your appetite. I alternate between the pancakes and omelettes, but they also have a delicious Eggs Benedict to rival any hotel chef. The staff is friendly, remembering your usual order and checking in with you about your family. If you haven’t found the Cornerside yet, you’d better hurry. The secret is getting out and it’s getting busy!

A great find for breakfast! The corned beef(made in-house) was phenomenal. I opted for two breakfast specials, the corned beef stacker and butterscotch oatmeal pancake, both of which were cooked perfectly, with great flavor. My breakfast companions ordered off the menu and were equally as happy with their choices. Go now! Eat up!

Exceptional in every way. Diverse menu options. Best of all, old school rolled omlettes full of fresh ingredients. Definite sustain.

So yeah. This place was awesome. Our waitress Shelley(I believe is what she said) did wonderfully. She wasn’t irritating us every two minutes, and she wasn’t awkwardly long between check ups. She was perfect, and impressive, she had like every table there at once. And the food. That was excellent. Prices were pretty good, and you got a hefty amount of food. It felt comfortable being there, and it was such a relaxed setting. Can’t wait to go back!

This is the best breakfast food in Kalamazoo. They do serve lunch too, but I have not had that. It is your typical«Ma and Pa hometown diner» to the fullest. The inside is nothing fancy, but I have come here three times for breakfast and love it more and more each time. It really does have the best food and for a very reasonable price(under $ 8 easily, and that’s if you get extra items along with your main course). There specials are always amazing and pancakes to die for, never have I had better pancakes. They are soft and moist in the inside, yet a golden, crisp taste on the outside. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is fantastic. Your food never takes very long to come out and the waitressing/waitering is flawless. They are always so kind and a great sense of humor. They are very helpful if it is your first time and if you have come more than once like me, they are very quick to remember you. I felt like a regular, when it was just my third time coming there. Just remember, they do not take credit cards, so bring cash or they do take checks(i think, one of the few restaurants to still do that). Other than that, I HIGHLY suggest this restaurant. I promise you will not be disappointed. Come hungry! :)

This place puts iHop and Denny’s and Big Boy’s and Waffle House to shame. It’s that good. In fact, I’d go as far to say that it’s the best small town breakfast restaurant I’ve ever visited. It’s so yummy! It took me years before I came across it but now that I have, I make sure to visit it every time I come home to Michigan to visit. And this is based on three separate visits ordering three different meals, so you know it’s good when every time as a treat, a delicious concoction of homemade breakfast food with a serious twist. For starters, Mel’s Potatoes is a little bit of heaven(Sausage gravy, cheddar cheese, hash browns, ham, bacon, and sausage all thrown in together to make a delicious, creamy dish). It also comes with fresh pineapple on the side and wheat/white toast. The blueberry pancakes are also killer, but watch out for variations and special takes on the classic pancake dish(I was in there yesterday and they had carrot cake pancakes with a carrot-cream-cheese spread — oh my yum-yum! It sounds weird but it wasn’t). If you don’t know where to start when you get the menu, look for what the daily specials are(you can’t go wrong here). Whether it’s a Turkey Sausage omelet(best omelet at a restaurant, ever) or their infamous homemade cinnamon rolls, these dishes come and go from time to time, so you’ll have to visit often if you want to taste these. The best thing besides the food at the Corner View Café are the prices. You can walk out with a hearty breakfast and coffee and toast for under $ 8. That’s pretty amazing if you ask me. Come prepared though in terms of currency b/c this hometown find only accepts cash/personal checks(no cards). There’s an ATM across the street at the speedway though should you be stuck here with no cash.
