We made reservations Apex for their buffet brunch after a good experience a few years ago. However, perhaps because it was not peak week, the selection was somewhat scant and in general, cooked items were dry and overdone. Apex is located in Montage and is conveniently ski-in ski-out. The staff outside manning the skis was super unhelpful in telling us how to get to the restaurant; he just laughed at us as we tried multiple doors. Once we finally got inside, poor signage meant we had to ask some guests how to reach the restaurant. The restaurant itself is a beautifully decorated, open space with high ceilings. It was quite empty while we were there, but again, it wasn’t peak week. The buffet brunch was housed in a windowless, low-ceilinged room; one wall was a salad bar, another was a trail mix station, and the other two walls housed the crêpe, hot entrées, phở, and dessert stations. I believe the center of the room had some«kids options», standard chicken finger and fries fare. First off, I tried the mushroom cheese crêpe, which was also the only savory crêpe option. The filling was creamy and delicious, though they do make the crêpe shells ahead of time so the crêpe itself was a bit crunchy and dry. The buffalo wings, mashed potatoes, and smoked mac and cheese were tasty and hearty, while the cassoulet was a watery miss. The chili had too much spice and yet still managed to feel watery and insubstantial. The salmon tasted like it has been sitting out for a bit — it had a fishy taste that not even the thick maple marinade could mask. The dessert bar, though small, was well-executed; I especially enjoyed the caramel crème and the buttermilk panna cotta. The cookies had good flavor were quite hard, again, probably because they’d been sitting out. Two members of our party opted for à la carte — the Caesar salad had a pretty cool deconstructed presentation, but the accompanying chicken was overcooked and dry. The short rib grilled cheese, on the other hand, was awesome. Service was fine — the restaurant staff were all polite and cleared our buffet plates fairly promptly. Drinks were also quite good; we splurged on some refreshing nonalcoholic spritzers($ 9 each). I’m not sure if quality of the buffet is better during peak week; I definitely remember a couple years ago, when I came for New Years, there was much better selection at the buffet and the quality of the food was much higher. Apex is still a lovely space, but for $ 35, I’d expect more selection(like maybe a full crêpe station instead of pre-made crepes and one filling option) or higher quality food. It’s understandable that with less foot traffic, buffet food does dry out, but some things, like fish, simply cannot sit out for too long. Unfortunately for Apex, they are located steps away from Deer Valley Resort’s Empire Lodge, which serves up high-quality, freshly made, and filling meals at ~$ 20. Apex wins for general ambiance — it really is a beautiful, calming space — but for food and value, I’ll just ski next door.

Our night time meal was unique and wonderful. Chef brought out some specials for us to try. Everything was mouth watering delicious. Breakfast works well for everyone. Huevos ranchero, steak and eggs and my favorite the egg white veggie skillet. Their berry mix is always fresh and sweet We haven’t had one thing on the menu we didn’t love.

Great hotel but for the price, Apex is no bargain. Food average at best. Maybe it will be better for ski season.

If give a zero star if that option was available. Our reservation request was outside seating but upon arrival they tried to sit is inside. Once outside, the chair seat on position 16(so Apex knows where I’m talking about) was filthy with food stains, napkin for one of us only, no wine list provided until requested, table cloth was filthy! They want $ 26 for a glass of an overly oaked Rombauer Chardonany that is sold for $ 30 a bottle at Total Wine! Welcome to Montage over pricing! Total disappointment. I feigned sickness so my wife could excuse us. I’d rather told them the real reason for leaving. Just terrible, never again.

Since the Montage was built i have heard rave reviews about the chicken schnitzel at the restaurant. After a nice hike at Deer Valley today(lots of wild flowers) i stopped at Montage for schnitzel. It was good but in my opinion not great. Won’t order it again. Wait staff was very attentive in a beautiful location. Also the schnitzel was one of the pricier selections on the menu at $ 29.

Stayed at the Montage for spring break. Had breakfast here everyday. Simple but delicious breakfast buffet offers breads and delicious pastries, hot foods: eggs, bacon, sausage both pork and chicken or turkey, amazing omelet bar as well as cereals, fresh fruits etc. Also dined in for dinner and was AMAZING. Staff was so friendly and food so incredibly delicious. Food is both homey and gourmet and to finish off we ordered dessert along with a trio of housemate ice creams that were to die for. Definitely recommending to anyone set to visit Park City.

Stayed here for my family’s ski trip, so free breakfast was served here(buffet). The buffet is actually pretty good. There are the typical options of carbs(bagels, toast, muffins, waffles) with rotations of different type of bread! There were cranberries, carrots, and pumpkin. There is also fresh fruit for breakfast! Lots of berries and tropical fruit. Omelette are included ofc. Lunch and dinner are just like any other American place; you’ve got the burgers and fries for lunch. Dinner consists of some pastas, steak, seafoods, etc. I’d give this place 3 star, but I’m giving it 1 because of the service. Almost all the waiters and waitresses have been incredibly rude. I don’t know what they do in the back, but they are really slow too(considering that there are not many people whenever I go). There is a lot of miscommunication between the staff as well, which results in longer service time and wrong foods/items being delivered to me. I would give a 2 star, but given the consistency of the poor service, it really deserves a 1

The breakfast was amazing! I would recommend the signature breakfast or the eggs Benedict. The whole staff was very hospitable and friendly. Our server Jessica was great!

I really enjoyed my dinner and excellent service. They custom crafted a gluten free dinner based on their wonderful menu. I had the local caught trout and smoked salmon. The restaurant is beautiful and very relaxing.

The restaurant is beautiful. Contemporary Medieval architecture, high ceilings, etc. Food is great. I had lamb and it was one of the most tender lambs I’ve eaten in my life. They are having a summer special where they offer a 3 course meal(choice of exquisitely executed salads, choice of main entrée, and dessert) for a fixed price of $ 30.00, which is a real bargain for a restaurant of this caliber. I gave it 4 and not 5 stars because although everything else is just beautifully done, the restaurant is a bit lacking in service. The waiters take a long time to approach the table initially, take a long time before they come again to take the order, and take a long time before they bring out the starting bread. We have dined twice here and both times we ordered champagne. Both times, the waiters would walk by the table, look at the table, and not refill the champagne glasses.

We’ve had breakfast here for two days in a row – because this is the only place on the property to have breakfast. We tried most of the menu, and the standouts are the pancakes(well, the syrup really), and the huevos rancheros. It’s pretty good food(albeit expensive for what you’re getting) and the deck is a nice place to sit and linger. Which you’ll do, because it takes a long time to get your food.

The Food was good but unfortunately I can’t say the same thing about the service. You ask for a coke, u get water, u ask for nachos, u get wings or u don’t get anything at all until u ask again and again…

I really enjoyed the wine and the beautiful restaurant to spend romantic time with my bf, this was something ive been searching in Park city, but it was hard to find at this hour. However the food was alright, beet salad had some sand, lobster tail was okey, a little raw inside but i never been a fan of it. At least everything was fresh. Steak is good. Apple lasagna was the best dish even though its desert Definitely try Gnocchi’s!

First let me premise this low rating by saying that I visited Apex during the busy New Year holiday weekend in a dinner party of 10, with reservations for 9:45pm, 15 minutes before their closing time. With that in mind, I did not expect anything spectacular in the way of service. And perhaps they were off their game. But that being said, this is a nice restaurant, in an upscale resort, and we did expect to enjoy at least part of our meal… Especially for the remarkable amount of money spent. The popover bread brought to our table was undercooked, and my fiancée’s was raw inside. The Caesar salads were boring and awkwardly gigantic. Each of us ended up wasting half of our plate. The menu in general is limited for those not ordering steak. So I opted for two appetizer dishes(the scallops appetizer and a gnocchi appetizer) to be my entrée, and requested such. The server mistakenly served the scallop dish first, which was awkward for the table pacing, and I was forced to just eat it then so it wouldn’t get overcooked or cold. The gnocchi dish did come out during entrees, but was tiny and unenjoyable at best. The sauce was dark, watery and flat, and the meager 4 gnocchi were fried and soggy. I ate 1 and a half, and only a taste of the clunky parsnips and soggy mushrooms before stopping. Most of our table ordered steak, and none of them liked theirs. My fiancé ordered the rib eye with lobster, shaved black truffle and foie gras(one of each of the accompaniments available.) The lobster was overcooked and hard, and the steak was unseasoned, tough, and funky-tasting. The foie was foie. Since no one else enjoyed their steaks, he opted not to ask for another dish. Which didn’t matter anyway because when he did tell the server that he didn’t enjoy it, the server remarkably only responded with«can I get you some dessert?» Um no, thanks. We didn’t bother with desserts or coffee here after that. Best part of our meal was the wine. And we brought that ourselves. On TOP of that — on leaving Apex, the Montage valet let someone double park behind our car, and couldn’t fine the car owner to move it! We waited nearly 30 minutes, watching other cars come and go, before we were handed the keys to leave… Yikes. There are so many better eateries in Park City. Choose another.

Christmas dinner was such a disappointment here. First, it was a set menu and we weren’t told of it when made the reservations. You would think they would have told us, right? Wrong. $ 125 per person… Super pricey. Everything that could go wrong went wrong: — low quality ingredients used in the food — food was cold & didn’t taste good at all — courses came out in different times. our party of 6 never got to enjoy the food together. — service was horrible all-around Sadly to say, we spent a fortune and left feeling that we were taken advantage of. I can’t think of a single reason that would make me want to return.

We had lunch at Apex this week before the ski season gets started. The service was excellent, however we were the only lunch customers. Our waiter Ron was fun, informative and flattered my 80 yr. old mom shamelessly. The burger and(real potato!) fries were delicious and should be @ $ 18. The Wild Salmon listed under the Salad section on the menu($ 22) was okay… a beautiful piece of salmon(approx. 6 oz.) sitting atop about ½ cup of greens with 3 slivers of grapefruit. Not sure I would call this a salad. The waiter inquired how the salmon and burger should be cooked when ordering, however the salmon arrived quite raw upon first bite. I like sushi, but only when ordering sushi. The salmon was returned to the kitchen for more cooking. The 2nd arrival of the salmon was cooked more around the edges but still raw in the middle. I ate the cooked parts leaving about 2 oz. of raw salmon on the plate, which was not addressed by the waiter upon clearing. :( The Raspberry Beret Handcrafted Soda($ 7) and Raspberry Meringue with Sicilian lemon sorbet and seasonal berries($ 11) were all completely delicious.

Great place! Dinner was delicious. I ordered the Moroccan Chicken and my mom had the Filet Mignon. both were delicious. The bread was great — some kind of cheddar popper. Also, the compliments of the chef was good — it was some kind of salami w/garlic and bread sticks. They also gave us some butter, pepper and black sea salt for the bread. My mom and I loved the sea salt — literally could just eat that by itself haha. For the appetizer we ordered the crab cakes. It was yummy. They definitely did not skimp on crab. For dessert we ordered two crepes — rhubarb & peach, and the dulce de leche chocolate. our waiter Christopher was great. Good customer service and very knowledgeable. The manager also came out and made sure we were doing good. The ambiance is good. We sat in the room with the fireplace — very cozy and elegant. Lighter colors and carpeted floors. There is another room where the bar is and it is a little different. Wood floors and a little darker look. There was a third room, but it was closed off — since we went during the not so busy season. I definitely will be coming back when in town!

Property, hotel, views, etc. are all 5-star perfection. This review is for the bar experience only; we did not dine in the restaurant. The bar is beautiful — dark woods, well-lit and romantic, gorgeous views, etc. That’s all built-in. The service, however was another story, in my opinion. My colleague and I came in here for after-dinner drinks one evening, and the bar wasn’t too busy. One other couple alongside us at the bar, and one high-top table behind us with a few patrons. Took bartender a while to acknowledge us; he was quick to help my colleague choose a beer from their draught selection, but when I told him I was in the mood for a digestif or something night-cap style — which should be de rigeur and not an unusual request for a place of this caliber — he was of no help. He turned around and grabbed their standard bar menu, and just put it down in front of me. I was hoping for recommendations or a special concoction, but I was faced with the«typical» list of margaritas, gin drinks, etc. I ended up choosing a $ 14 Kir Royale, which in my book is definitely not a digestif, but whatever. The bubbly-to-chambord ratio was off, the drink was too syrupy-sweet, but at least it had a few plump blackberries at the bottom. The bartender left us alone totally and didn’t ask us if we wanted another round, nor was he prompt with the handling of our bill. I will say that this experience was night and day different from all the other beyond 5-star perfect staff members and service experiences I had at this hotel during my stay.

The following is a review of the skiers buffet over ~5 visits in 2012. I cannot recommend this in good faith, as DV has other dining establishments that are significantly better(St. Regis, Stein, Royal Street Café) I have been continually disappointed in the skiers buffet. The food is nothing special, sometimes I have even taken one bite of my food and left it on my plate. The service has been sub-par, very slow. You have to flag down a server to even get a refill on water or order from the menu. For a 35 dollar lunch I would expect much, much more. The steak sandwich off the menu is quite good, though. I have never been for dinner.

Such a disappointing experience. Wonderful food, beautiful views, and dismal service. I had the shrimp tacos. Wonderful tart, citrus flavor, but they were served on a plate that was clearly too small for this messy dish. My momma had the trout which was equally delicious. Now to the down side. Our waiter brought us waters, but then the house manager took our order. Not a big deal, but after the food came out no one stopped by to check in and see if the food was up to snuff. This isn’t something that would normally bother me, but for a $ 60 lunch I expect the wait staff to be a little more attentive. The biggest offense came when the waiter brought our bill while we were still eating. I should clarify… we weren’t almost finished with our meal, we weren’t even half way finished with our meal, we had only been eating for about 10 minutes. The waiter didn’t ask how our food was, or if we would like something else(like dessert maybe!), he only said«whenever your ready.» The waiter then came back after a few minutes to see if we had put a card down, only to realize he had given us the wrong bill. He then quickly swapped out the checks without saying anything and walked away. We then felt awkwardly rushed to finished our meal and GTFO. As a somewhat recent transplant to Los Angeles I’ve had the pleasure of visiting many high rated restaurants. Sometimes the food doesn’t quite measure up, or the concept is a little too unusual for my taste, but what they all have in common is excellent service. The Apex fell completely flat in this department, and there are just too many great restaurants in Deer Valley to put up with sloppy service.
