Sadly, this place is indeed closed. But on the bright side, it seems the chef has joined up with an old colleague of his at a Sezchuan restaurant in Lomita: There are some slight differences, but the quality is all there! I tried the walnut shrimp, and it has the same perfect super-light breading. :)

I always seem to come here for special occasions with the family. Prices are more on the expensive side for solid but pretty standard Chinese food, but they’re one of the few restaurants in the 626 that do special menus for American holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’ve probably eaten more Thanksgiving dinners here than anywhere else, home included, as their version of a turkey dinner with sticky rice as the stuffing is so delicious! I’m thankful for Fu Shing for several food comas on Black Fridays the next day.

Please tell me it’s not true! I hope they will open at another location. I have been going there since freshman in high school! Please keep us updated!

I love coming to this place whether it is for grabbing a quick bite for lunch or to get some pick-up food to eat throughout the week. Their lunch specials are priced very fairly and contain a sizable portion of food. I am big fan of their Mu-Shu pork. Another thing I like about this place is the quite, relaxing atmosphere that it fosters. Yet another great thing about this place is their relatively inexpensive prices for high quality Chinese food.

I found Fu-Shing after my favorite Chinese restaurant in Pasadena closed for the same reason…“Lost our lease” that was Spring Garden on Foothill. I had been going there since the late 70s. Now another good old restaurant is gone due to greedy landlords who leave there properties vacant for long periods of time making the city landscape looking like Detroit. Have you seen what’s across the street to the west? A former Acapulco restaurant that has been vacant for about 2years. I guess unless your a over priced Panda Express you have no clout.

I drove by today and happened to see a for lease sign so after Target I pulled in to investigate with my niece, nephew and sister. I feel so sad to report that Fu Shing is closed! I couldn’t believe it after so many delicious meals I had with Ken, and my family when this place was in San Gabriel on Valley. I’m hoping they opened somewhere near my home. I’m going to miss the lunch specials!

The staff told us that they’re closing down for good this month. I can’t believe it! This was my go-to spot in Pasadena for Chinese food! Thank you wait staff and chefs for providing us with years of great food. We will miss you!

Been coming here for years and have never been let down. We were sat promptly and the wait staff was very attentive. The menu has tons of items and they have a well stocked bar. I have had many of the items on the menu over the years but some of my favs are the tea smoked ducked and the Scallops with fire roasted garlic is a must have. The three flavor sizzling rice soup is also an amazing choice. The place is clean, the service is good, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. This is a place I will continue to patronize.

The place was kind of empty for a Monday night. They definitely have a lot of take out here. I read the reviews but I am not sure what is good here so don’t count on this review to help if it is your first time here either. We ordered the sizzling rice soup, strange enough it had a hint of hot and sour broth tasks but the look of sizzling rice soup. It was good maybe 3 stars for me. Oh the free appetizers was a kim Chee like broccoli stems. It was not something we ate because it didn’t taste that good. I would have preferred cucumbers but I get they use everything you have. We ordered the sweet and pungent chicken. That was delicious and I would give that 4.5 stars it was freshly made and hot. Then the human beef came out and it was like warm to say the least. It was not spicy and tasted bland and not yummy. Beef would get one star from me. The fortune cookies even do not taste good here. But the Orange was sweet tonight. I don’t think we will be back there are so many better Chinese food out there. I hope you enjoy your meal here

Classic Chinese food. The main dining room feels like someones living room. They have a larger banquet room upstairs. Do not leave here without trying the three flavor sizzling rice soup and the walnut shrimp! Those two items are definite must haves.

The food here is FUSHING nasty. MSG, MSG, more MSG, oil, oil, oil, a dash of more MSG, and a splash of extra oil. Seriously, every single dish(and we had like twenty different ones catered) was disgusting. No flavor. Tons of oil. Meager portions. To top it off, the food gave me the worst stomach problems ever. And I’m a guy with an IRON stomach. I was pooping small, unsatisfying pellets for days.

My boyfriend and I will always make a stop here when we are in Pasadena. We love their food, service, and prices! They have a lunch special daily from 11−3pm. The lunch special comes with an entrée, a side of rice, a sweet and sour soup, and an egg roll or salad for around $ 7 – 8! Our favorite dishes are the fire garlic roasted scallops, the kung pao chicken, the string beans with ground pork, the walnut shrimp with mayo, the eggplant with garlic sauce. The fire garlic roasted scallops is a must try. The scallops are nice and toasty laid on top of angel hair pasta with some green peppers. I recommend ordering the kung pao chicken with white meat only to avoid fatty pieces. The sting beans with ground pork are very tasty. Of course if you are a vegetarian you can order just string beans. The eggplant is soo tasty and not bitter. A I recommend laying it on top of some white rice. The walnut shrimp with mayo does have a lot of mayo so you can ask for light mayo but the taste from the shrimp goes well with the walnut and mayo. A great option for lunch or family dinners :)

My family LOVES coming here, so this is where we usually end up for someone’s birthday dinner. To me, the service is so-so, and the food is not bad. My favorite dish is the scallops with noodles(not really sure what it’s called). Their duck also isn’t bad. I love how the skin tastes. CRISPY. This place is okay. I don’t really have much to say except I probably wouldn’t bring my friends here or come without my family.

If you are allergic to MSG… Don’t Come Here! I know that ALL Chinese takeout contain some MSG(no matter what they say). But this was extreme! I thought it was the spice… but I can take spice, hot spicy food is my drug of choice. Then came the tingling sensation… on the tongue, the lips… next thing I know, they were feeling swollen… after 4 bites… Seriously!!! …No Thank You!

I love coming to Fu-Shing for lunch. They have great lunch specials($ 6 – 10) and their food is one of the best in Pasadena. My regulars are the kung pao chicken(the best), sauteed string beans, zha jiang mien(dry noodle with minced meat and sliced cucumber), and the smoked tea roasted duck. The lunch special comes with white rice or fried rice, hot and sour soup, and salad or egg roll. It’s a great option for lunch if you’re in Pasadena. the restaurant itself is really big and usually there isn’t a wait. On holidays, they don’t offer lunch specials. Plentiful parking space in the lot. Fu-Shing makes it easy for the customers to go in and out!

Fu-Shing is a such an odd beast. In one sense it’s the picture of terribly Americanized Chinese food and yet there are some very unique dishes with great redeeming qualities. There are even some very standard dishes that are exquisitely cooked yet there lies inconsistencies in the cooking skill of the staff that make the quality unpredictable. HISTORY My father used to work with the original owner when the location was in Monterey park several decades ago. The restaurant is now run by the two sons of the original owner. THEGOOD The older son is an exceptional chef. His abilities with the wok make the dishes sing. Dry Sauteed String Bean come out dry and crisp, the standard meat dishes like Kung Pao Chicken , Mongolian Beef , Fire Cracker Lamb come out with a crispness to the outer parts of the meat yet tenderness. You can tell from the pictures the sauce clings to the food and there is no went mess on the plate. THEBAD The sad part is the rest of the staff is not up to par and if someone else is cooking the food comes out limp, lifeless and the stereotypical bland Americanized Chinese food that people satirize. My dad always asks that the older brother cook the food extra dry but we’ve seen inconsistent results when don’t bring up the issue. NOTSOSZECHUANBUTNOTBAD While Fu-Shing bills itself as a Szechuan restaurant one thing you’ll find lacking is the heat and spice. However, this is not entirely a bad thing. Their HOTBRAISEDSHRIMP comes out as a sweat and tangy lightly spicy dish that is actually quite palatable. You can also get this wish fillet of sole. SECRETMENUITEM add noodles to this dish and it becomes quite a massive portion for only dollars more. UNIQUEDISHES STRAWMUSHROOM and BAKEDGLUTEN Baked gluten is most well known in Shang Hai dishes as a cold marinated appetizer. This dish comes out hot braised in brown sauce topping spinach and is like no other preparation of this dish anywhere. It’s definitely worth trying SCALLOP with FIREROASTEDGARLIC This dish is really quite good. Whole breaded and fried scallop topped a garlicky, green onion and jalapeño stir fried rice noodle. Even at about $ 16 for the dish, dad still feels this is a great value and the leading reason we keep coming back. Fu-shing has some really great if not amazing things going for it. Even the staff is very courteous. I’d love to recommend this place more but am afraid the unpredictability in the quality of cooking could lead to very mixed results and that should not be the case. Try it for yourself and you be the judge.

What??? They prepare a Thanksgiving set that includes actual turkey? I’m shocked but so happy. This is a favorite local restaurant to those that live in Pasadena and San Marino. I’m a fan of their thanksgiving set. Coming from a Chinese/Taiwanese Family, being an ABC… everyone knows thanksgiving meal and xmas meal equals Chinese food haha Want to get yelled at or snickered at? Bring turkey. Best turkey I’ve almost eaten. Chinese style turkey! Its soft vs being dried, the white meat area is only a bit dried. Gravy is Chinese style, watery vs thick. Sides include steam potato and carrots. We had thanksgiving dinner with family friend. This is they’re local spot to go, and highly recommend RSVP for holidays. NYE time, they waited over 2 hours. They always order catfish(if you like maopo tofu, get it). Atmosphere: Not the nicest looking restaurant. They have a small downstairs area(I only saw one area), then there’s a larger space upstairs sectored off into over possibly over 3 sections. Parking: Free. Shared among plaza.

Went to dinner with a group of good friends at Fu-Shing. We have been there several times and the food has always been above average. Each of us ordered a dish and since my L.A. friends go pretty often the food, drinks and service is excellent. Mixed clay pot 5⁄5 stars comes very hot lot’s of different seafood, meats and glass noodles Mushroom bamboo shouts and tofu 4⁄5 stars soft tofu with lot’s of mushrooms Twice cooked pork ¾ stars just OK Scallops with fried rice noodles 5⁄5 stars always good big meaty fried scallops Plenty of parking. Full bar. Martini’s extra good.
