Lovely experience. The wines were great & the staff was friendly. They were pouring a lot of blends today. The price point was a little high for a typical Paso winery, but not too crazy.

This must be our 8th, 9th or maybe closer to our our 20th trip to Paso since we moved to California and this time round we decided that the trip had to be focused on places we’d always wanted to go and never gotten round to visiting or places we’d had bookmarked forever on Unilocal because of their great reviews. Stop one, Caliza and it set a fantastic tone for the weekend! Arriving at 12 on Friday we pretty much had the place to oursleves. Behind the bar was Pam who was super friendly and super helpful, she walked us through the various wines on the tasting list, helped us out with recommended local gems we should put on our must visit list and gave us a great history of the vineyard and wines and the wines where delicious!!! We walked out with three bottles of the Sympatico it was just that good! Definitely recommend if your in the area and I know we’ll be back as soon as we can to try some of their soon to be released vintages

Excellent wines vintage to vintage, tasting room staff is very knowledgeable and inviting! Highly recommended if you are looking for a winery with great wines and excellent customer service as displayed by Pam. She has helped us a number of times and we have always had great experiences with her and the wines.

I went on a 6 hour wine tour of many wineries all along the Central Coast. I was very impressed and blown away by Caliza. I went as a guest of a friend whom is a member. The wine is great and staff was very friendly. pretty outside area to sit.

I thought the wine was good but not great. The prices were just ok! If you skipped this winery I don’t think you would feel you missed out.

This winery was recommended by locals. The location is easy to get to and the tasting room is very quaint and beautifully decorated. Pam served us. She was extremely knowledgable and was very passionate about wine. We tasted a couple of whites, a rose and several reds. We had a tough choice picking a bottle of wine to purchase because they were all fantastic. We ended up bringing home the Primitivo. I highly recommend stoping here!

Just happened to stumble on this winery while driving around the central coast. The woman running the wine tasting was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up buying some white and red wines. Great afternoon visit.

Loved this place. Very quaint, small winery feel. The tasting room staff were so sweet, and very fun. Great whites, as well as their rosee. We picked up a few bottles, and they even gave us a recipe card for a scallop dish to have with one of their wines. Don’t mind if I do. Another spot to hit up again, because I know we will run out of our stash soon.

I liked this tasting room okay. I think there were only four wines on the list and then when asked if there were any others, she pulled one more from their sister winery. I wasn’t too wowed but I seem to recall I enjoyed their Sympatico(tempranillo, syrah, grenache) the most… though at $ 48 a bottle I wasn’t prepared to pick one up. Small pours, Dog friendly, Beautiful glass if you want for $ 9.50.

Caliza was recommended to us by some locals we met tasting at another winery. We were pleasantly surprised by this tasting room. It is the last winery(farthest from 46W) on Anderson road. Plenty of parking. The tasting room is not small but not huge either. The staff was very friendly and had no problem with our requests to revisit a couple of wines. We tasted the Vigonier, Kissin Cousins(a blend of Vigonier, Grenache Blanc and Rousanne), Pink, Syrah, and Azimuth(a GSM blend). I wasn’t really looking for whites, nothing wrong with them, just wasn’t looking for whites on that day. Of the two, I preferred the Kissin Cousins. Normally I dislike Rose wines. I even contemplated skipping their Pink; good thing I didn’t. The color is a darker hue of red than most Rose wines. I was told this is because they leave the skins on the grapes longer. It actually made for a really interesting and unique wine. It was heavier, more substantial than a typical Rose. We liked it so much we actually picked up a couple of bottles as the price was pretty reasonable($ 23). The Syrah was good, but not my favorite. The Azimuth was very good, and am not a huge fan of GSMs. This one I actually liked. I had trouble pulling the trigger at $ 48 a bottle. I really liked this place and think it is definitely worth a visit.

I was enjoying admiring the outside, that I was reminded to enter. Cute and comfortable tasting room — although the busiest of any we encountered; despite the number of people and the noise, we were quickly acknowledged and assisted by the very warm and friendly staff — including the owner, himself! Again, despite all of the people, we still enjoyed a relaxed wine tasting experience. Our tasting included 4 delightful wines(and a couple of bonus tastes). Attractively bright-and-airy room, tasty wines, nice people… Fun find!

What an amazing find!!! We went here because we had purchased the wine passport and it was listed on that and we didn’t need a reservation. When we pulled up I thought it was such a cute little place. Yellow house with some beautiful scenery all around it! I was really impressed. Its a smaller tasting room, but beautiful inside there as well. The place was kind of busy when we got there, but we were helped immediately. Our tastings were free because of the wine passport, but I believe they are normally 10 $. I didn’t like the kissing cousins, but other than that one I LOVED all of their wines. I was especially surprised that I enjoyed their pink. I typically go for bold reds, but I thought their pink wine was unique. After doing several tastings I realized how much I enjoyed their wine and decided to go ahead and join their wine club. The lady was so nice and actually gave me the first shipment right there! Which was great, I didn’t have to pay for shipping! The Pink was not included in the shipment so I decided to go ahead and buy a bottle of that as well. Obviously I would recommend giving this place a try! I cant wait to come back!

Caliza was on the spendy side but they too handed out some generous pours as well as plenty of local inside tips where to eat/drink. We didn’t buy anything here as we weren’t blown away by any of the wines and at the prices they had it wasn’t worth taking a flyer on one. Visit my Unilocal profile page for my blog and further reviews.

This was our first stop on our quick getaway to Paso. It was an auspicious start to the day. The tasting room was small but charming. The setting was lovely — picture perfect and immediately relaxing. The wines were wonderful. I enjoyed all of them. We ended up with the syrah and the white. The wines were definitely priced high but I feel, well-worth it.

First stop on day #1 of Paso. Good wine, friendly server. I like to visit wineries where the owners are present. It gives a winery a homey, non-corporate feel… My favorite was the Kissin’ Cousins(a Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne blend). It’ll make a fantastic summer patio wine! Beautiful property and easy to find.

My girl friends and I had an amazing time here. The owner and his wife guided us through the tasting, telling us stories along the way. The tasting room is very quaint and homey. We could not have asked for nicer hosts. I took home a bottle of Kissing Cousins, I don’t usually like white wines, but this one was just fantastic.

During our wine tasting stay in Paso we made a stop at Caliza. Hearing many great things about the wine we wanted to make sure had a chance to try it. Appointment wine tasting is really a better option if you want to get the best experience. It is very refreshing to enjoy the wine with the wine maker himself and hear the inspiration and story of the concept. Carl was very passionate and genuine. For the wine, we ended up taking home the Syrah(outstanding) and Azimuth; a very nice blend. They are currently planting Tempranillo and we look forward to seeing what they come up with on our next visit.

A great atmosphere for wine tasting, the grounds though small, are quite inviting and comfortable. The whole place is quite picturesque and the gradient of the surrounding hills are super steep. Along with great wine, they also sell boutique olive oil and lightly scented soaps. My girlfriend and I enjoyed all of the wines but the Syrah was a must purchase! We left with a bottle and some good memories, definitely coming back on our next trip. The woman who was helping us was either the wife of the winemaker, the winemaker or the owner, or all three. Regardless, she was quite informative about the short history of Caliza Winery and above all, extremely friendly. My girlfriend and I really liked her and I am sure the rest of you will as well.
