The wines here are just average. Nothing stands out to me as being super amazing, unfortunately. The cheese is definitely the most enjoyable part of the experience. The staff is pretty friendly. The wigs are fun, but it would be awesome if they had someone to take photos or set up a photo booth area, rather than just a random room that forces you to maneuver around tables and avoid windows. The one thing that made me really upset is that I was there for my bachelorette party, and two girls in my group were explicitly told they could not go back to the Playroom with us since they did not do tastings. I get it– they’re not spending money. But they were also the designated drivers, and you’d think that when 2 out of 11 are staying sober to drive safely, that would be rewarded. I didn’t want photos of most of us– I wanted photos of my whole crew. Seriously?! This was my second time here, and my fiancé did not taste the first time yet was still allowed in the wig room. Be consistent and don’t punish sober drivers! Most places in Paso seem down to earth and not all about money, but Clautiere was the opposite.

Clautiere is a small winery on a small road that you’d never find unless you went looking for it,-which is what my wife and I did after it was recommended to us by a server at another winery. What a pleasant surprise! Clautiere grows all of its own fruit, which is not common in this area, and they have made some bold choices in the grapes they grow. Rousanne is not a common grape in California, but the winemaker at Clautiere has figured out how to make some wonderful white wines with it. They also offer a sparkling Viognier that’s a nice blend of smooth, fruit flavors without being too sweet. But their best wine might be their Syrah. We’ve tasted dozens of Paso Syrahs, but theirs is special-with a depth and complexity that is more common in a good Cab. The wine pourer was knowledgeable and friendly, and the cheese pairings were a nice bonus.

Such tasty cheese paired with the wines! Wine should be paired with a little something to eat, otherwise you won’t know what it will be like when you have it with dinner. Also, our tasting was guided wonderfully by Lindsay, who really knows her wines and took excellent care of us!

Such a fun place! The cheese parings were amazing! Some of the best cheeses I’ve ever had! Very interesting and unique flavors of wine and the wig room is a blast! Our sweet pourer Neelee was amazing! I love the vibe here. Not hoity-toity at all. We will be back!!!

This could be the funnest winery you will visit. Super fun girl pouring and according to my friend the best White wines out of ten wineries we visited/I didn’t care for the reds but they were not bad. I wish I tried the whites/ This place is as fun as the photos people are posting. If you don’t mind dawning a colored whig or oversized party hat then come here and tap into your fun side. Afterwards I suggest you stop by Rasmussen winery which is just down the road a minute or two.

We loved this winery! Very friendly service from Tim and the atmosphere was so much fun! Of course we tried on the wigs… But most important was that we liked every wine we tasted without exception. That was a first for us. Also the cheese pairings were great! All around a great experience! We will be back!

Really enjoyed our tasting here. Tim the pourer was fun and generous with the pours and the wines were good overall. We will definitely be back its one of the better wineries on the east side of 101 in my opinion.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon with about a dozen young adults celebrating a birthday. They have some pleasant grounds to wander around. The funnest part was the wigs and hats they had to clown around in.

Very rude, they acted like we didn’t exist. No acknowledgement what so ever. I am a local and was celebrating my siblings Birthday and thought this winery would be fun for her. I don’t even like their wine, but I thought I would give them some business while having a little fun. Don’t waste your time or money going here. Not worth it.

This was one of our favorite wineries in Paso! We were not expecting to visit the winery but it came highly recommended. The atmosphere is fun and unique. Definitely a place worth visiting just to get a different experience. But, it also has amazing wines! The wines here were complex yet so drinkable. They were enhanced by the paired cheese tastings, and each cheese was delectable. I can’t wait to come back!

This review is more for the talented woman that creates the wine and cheese pairings than it is for the wine. Alone the wine is rather pedestrian, but add the magic of the selected cheese and viola the wine is instantly better.

Parking is limited. Like others mention… you feel like you walked into Alice in wonderland when you go inside. Cute, whimsical & fun! There are a ton of wigs that you can try on before, during and after wine tasting. The wine tasting fee is $ 10 and is NOT waived even if you buy a few bottles of wine. The staff member on duty did not seem amused by us and simply poored the wines for tasting without giving us too much more detail or conversation. Overall, it’s worth it to at least go once and experience it but I probably will not be returning unless I really feel the need to get dressed up in wigs during another wine tasting adventure.

Let me start by saying couple of negative things & get that out of the way… This winery opens at 12 noon. I think that’s kinda late. Parking is limited. As soon as I walked in2 this place, I felt like I wuz a part of the Alice in wonderland storybook. Cute, whimsical & fun! Especially enjoyed trying on the wigs. Since I brought my teenage daughter, she’s not old enough 2 drink but she enjoyed trying on the wigs. $ 10 wine & cheese pairing. We need more wineries like this where they have other things 2 do besides wine tasting. I bought an $ 18 sweet white port from here. Nice staff working here.

Visited the tasting room on a wine tour 7⁄13. Presented the union road wine trail voucher listing a complimentary tasting. We did not partake in the cheese pairing but were told we were responsible for a $ 10 tasting charge per person as they would not honor our«expired» vouchers. No expiration date on the voucher that was provided by our hotel(the same day) as well as the vouchers our wine tour company provided but they still refused to honor it. Because we did not participate in the cheese paring we were told they would only charge us half price and had” no authority“ to honor our vouchers. Many other alternatives with much better customer service. Our wine tour company made a note to not bring customers here again…

One of five I stopped at with a large work party wine tasting. Service was horrible. The one staff member treated us like we were invading her space. We couldn’t do the ‘fun’ stuff until we had tasted the selection and then the wigs etc were interesting but no one cared at that point. I won’t be back. Wine wasn’t anything I couldn’t get at Von’s on the bottom shelf either

Whimsical winery with excellent staff! We enjoyed our tasting here, which included cheese pairing. Of course, I could not partake, since I can’t stand the taste and smell of cheese, but my tasting partners loved it. The last wine was paired with a chocolate truffle, which was spot on. Great wines, and a fun tasting room that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

There are so many reasons to love this winery!!! It was our last stop on an anniversary weekend before heading back to Santa Barbara and I do feel that we saved the best for last!!! Of course you can love this place for the delicious wines. Or you can love it because they pair the wines with cheese!!! You can love it for the funky décor or the«overheard conversations» that are posted on the wall… very clever. Maybe it is the wig room where after a tasting you can put on wigs or funny hats and take silly pictures. But we loved it for two other reasons… Lindsay and Kirsten! Wine tastings should be FUN and these two make it FUN! On a cold, dark and rainy day our tasting at Clautiere was spot of sunshine! Oh and the neighbor’s dog really wanted to come home with us.

Whimsical, friendly, and fun! Cheese is my favorite food so I was thrilled to learn that the $ 10 tasting fee is for pairings of wines and cheese. My honey and I split one tasting and the guy pouring must have sensed my resistance to sharing the cheese part because he was nice enough to give us two bites with each pour. You get $ 5 off the tasting fee with the purchase of a bottle and we left with one of their reds. Back to the cheese. They get them from a local shop, Vivant Fine Cheese, and there were some interesting bites that I had never had before. This included one with coconut flavor and another with lavender and coffee. Sounds strange but they were all delicious. We didn’t go in the playroom but plenty of other people have talked about that part.

This is usually the last stop on our semi-annual wine tours, which includes 3 – 4 wineries. So there’s not much to say… oh PURPLE walls!
