Best winery out here. Had to become a member immediately. Me and the guy had a private wine tasting thanks to Len’s generosity and some new friends who were already members. His big reds are delicious. Thick. Chewable. If you have the opportunity to come here(he’s only open to public for wine festivals) you must go!!!

Fantastic wine!!! Len is a great hardworking personable man. Did I say the wine was Fantastic? I think it’s by far one of the best in Paso. It is the only wine club I won’t ever quit

Visited 8÷9÷14. Not much to add that has not already been reported. Awesome small family run winery. Len and Jan were great and welcoming. Emailed ahead of time and Len quickly responded with a time range in which he could accommodate us. The wines are as reported… Big Bold Reds. Currently serving the 2012 vintage across the board, minus the dessert wines. Although youthful, the current releases were drinking wonderfully. Nice bouquet. High alcohol contents but you never would have guessed. All of the above with a smooth finish. As the other Unilocalers that have come before me, we became members and walked away with a case!

Initiate«Sarcastic Review.» Don’t go here. This place is awful. The wines are too rich and full of thick, earthy, grape essence from heaven so there’s no way you’ll be able to handle it. Also, the owners are horrible people. Not friendly at all or caring and welcoming. They have a boring annual member party. Even though I’ll be a member until I’m dead and my ashes scattered by some giant sequoia, I really don’t like it.

Woohoo! As good as it gets, is right! Thank you Bob and Donna, wine club members for taking us to Gelfand Vineyards. Each tasting was better than the next. Is that possible? Leonard, you are a genius and we, Bill and Shannon are thrilled to be members as well. Cheers!

I just can’t speak highly enough about Gelfand wines. Len is a master winemaker! You’re lucky if you can join the wine club because you won’t find their wines anywhere else… and I’m not sharing!

Opened and enjoyed a bottle of 2009 Petite Sirah last night… realized I forgot to post my review for Gelfand last month. Yes, I am a wine snob. Friends and family point that out often but I wear it as a badge of honor. I did not have high expectations for this little vineyard but was asked to swing in and pick up a case for an associate. Four of us dropped by Gelfand in September on the way up to Sonoma. Just so happened Len and gang were barrel tasting and working on blending that afternoon. I had’t learned as much about wine and the process to extract red ecstasy from those little grapes from my past 10 yrs of visits to Napa and countless tours and tastings as I did in a couple hours spent with Len and his family. Truly a one of a kind experience. Ended up driving off with 3 cases and just recently joined the club so I can secure future releases. I would not recommend anyone else joining, as I would prefer to keep this little gem to myself.

As to the man from AZ I think he needs to go back into the desert with the toads and lizards. Perhaps he prefers Ripple ??? This is great wine. I recently took it to a function for the GB Packers and the wine drinkers(and they can afford any wine they want) were AMAZED by the quality and the reasonable price. As one who spends every summer in France I can say that these wines are«formidable» and if you love reds you will fall in love with them.

The next person that reviews Gelfand is going to meet my Uncle Louie and his buddy Big Tony. Don’t you people know when to keep your mouths shut? It’s lousy wine… not a single one gets a 100 score. Horrible people. Now you know why I gave it a 1 star. I gave it a 5??? Must have made a mistake. Please, don’t tell anyone I sent you. My friends Louie and Tony will never forgive me. Put this one together with Penman Springs just up the road and Uncle Louie will give you a pass. Ohh, alright, go ahead and use my name.

Gelfand is by appointment except during wine festivals in Paso and such, and it often takes a referral from a wine club member or a local B&B to get in. DOIT if you can. The vineyard is lovely, the tasting room is really a production facility, casks et. al., not a Napa slick tasting room. But the wines are knock-outs. Gelfand doesn’t aim for anything too subtle, he goes for the gusto. Think of Gelfand as a home run hitter, always swinging for the fences, and usually delivers. The Petite Sirah, regardless of year, is likely to be one of the best you have ever had. Syrah excellent, Cabernet is big and meaty. And the blends are creative, unique and always big — Cabyrah(Cab and Syrah), Petite Cab(Petite Sirah and Cab) and others. As hosts Len and Jan are welcoming, charming, in love with their wine, and have a great sense of humor, which comes through in their entire approach: Have great fun with it, and try to produce some of the biggest, take no prisoner wines you have ever tasted. Gelfand wines aren’t as inexpensive as some of the small, developing wineries that are all over the Paso area, but they are well worth it. Gelfand is a DONOTMISS if you are winetasting in Paso.
