Randomly came here after spending the day on the east end. We did a little Unilocal research before making our selection. Myself and my fiancé were very underwhelmed with out meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful with great indoor/outdoor seating. I ordered the shrimp and rice, i dont know if i just picked the wrong thing on the menu– but it was bland and unappetizing. My food arrived cold and the salad that came with my meal was literally large chunks of lettuce and one slice of cucumber. My fiancé ordered a big platter with chicken steak egg rice and beans– he also said it was rather bland. The waitress was nice, but again the food was lacking :(

Service is very good, friendly and quick(once in a while you have to wave your hand but that because its busy) and the food is fresh and exemplary of Colombian cuisine. I just wish the prices were a little more reasonable — seems a little overpriced for simply made rustic food that is minimally presented

Average at best. The food was overpriced and the taste is best as a meh. The servers were all on their phone didn’t look up when guests walked in, the server I talked was not knowledgable about the menu at all. Although, I will say the hostess and manger were very friendly. Overall I would skip out on this overpriced, mediocre food.

Great spot for drinks and solid food. Took my mom out for lunch on Saturday and had a great time. Our waitress was great, very friendly, tentative and pretty too haha. Try the mojitos and the toasted coconut breeze I believe it was called, solid drinks. The shrimp ceviche and tostones were great too!

I was introduced to Gallo back in 2012 by my former co-workers and have been going there ever since. I took my father there today for Father’s day as he loves latin cuisine. I am like my Father when it comes to eating out at a restaurant, I go to places that honor me as a customer, and I never ever forget that. I will say that each every time I have gone here it is always an amazing experience, everyone is nice and so friendly and kind. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is amazing and you get a great portion of food that’s delicious and reasonably priced. When I come to Patchogue I have a small number of places that I like to visit to eat. Gallo is at the top of my list! Just think about it, when was the last time the owner of a restaurant you’ve visited personally greeted you and other people in your party. If you haven’t had that experience, then you NEED to visit Gallo. Thanks again Dave, Jeffery, and to the wonderful staff.

Everyone is always friendly. It can get busy at times(but it’s the weekend and it’s also Patchogue) but they always keep their cool. Whenever me and my family crave Colombian food we come here. Recommended: Camper’s Platter! Very filling and usually able to take half home for lunch the next day and also inexpensive. Also, try Mora con leche… you won’t regret it.

I really wanted to like Gallo, I’ve heard mostly good comments about it. However… I was a bit disappointed. Service — I read reviews that included comments about poor service, but I figured they were possibly exaggerating. They weren’t. Don’t expect good service. Pleasant staff, but slooow. We started with the mini empanadas — for $ 2 how can you go wrong? Add the green sauce from the table and you have a quite a tasty appetizer. I ordered rotisserie chicken with a side of steamed veggies — which I never got despite several assurances they were coming and then had to request it be removed from the bill. The chicken was okay, pretty dry — but again that green sauce can save anything. Tried both the sweet and green plantains — my boyfriend enjoyed both, I didn’t care for either but that could just be my tastebuds. He had a couple margaritas which were good — but pricy for the small size. All in all… not impressed.

Its sad when you have to give a low rating, especially when you know that the place could be really fantastic. As a welcome to NY dinner, friends & I stopped by this Latin Bistro last night at about 8:15. The wait for 5, wasn’t too bad for a Saturday, about 30 mins. Service seemed friendly, but slow. However remember, its a Saturday night so they are BUSY. Plus there was a Party Upstairs. First issue… we ordered the pork nachos… they were out of pork. Ok, no biggie, who doesn’t like steak? They were a decent size to share with 5 for an app. And it was ok. I mean nothing to scream and have a foodgasm over, but ok. Its now that I got a chance to really soak in the atmosphere. Maybe its Patchogue’s style… but 90’s grunge pop music just didn’t scream Latin restaurant. And it was so loud!!! Dinner conversation was screeched across the 6-top. 20 min into the app, he took our order, a bit slow, but remember… its Saturday night. Now about 9:15 — 9:30. And here is where the problem ensued. The — knock them down 3 stars and never go back problem… We all ordered. 10 min later the waiter says, they were out of yellow rice(which we all got as a side) and asked would we like to wait 15 – 20 min or have white rice. We said, we would wait, just don’t cook our steaks now… I mean duh, they would be cold by then. 40 mins later… yes 40 min… our food arrived with most delish yellow rice ever(hence the 2 stars), with completely cold, tough, now completely well done steaks. Every last steak at the table. The beans were actually room temp. Our plates had sat… cooked, waiting for the rice. Bad bad bad mistake. At this point, the food wasn’t even health dept temp to serve. But, I tried it. It was ok, I could tell it might have been good hot. And the guys who ordered rare steaks and got mid-well, theirs were the same… you could tell it would have been good. So the server came by and we explained, he nodded, he DID offer to send it all back, but by now we were like …its almost 11pm. Like its ok, this sh@t happens. We honestly weren’t mad. A little disappointed but would have come back. Until… the manager came by and apologized and said… he would«take care of us», we thought«oh how nice», assuming somthing would be comped off the bill. But was there… nope, not a thing. Not a drink, not a soda, not our apps, nothing. That’s why I won’t go back. Because… he said he would do something to compensate for 5 dinners completely inedible except for the 2 rice. And he didn’t. So… you can go and listen to Matchbox 20 and scream over SemiSonic, and probably have a excellent meal… just Never ever ever wait on rice.

Last night I had the pleasure(for the most part), of eating at Gallo. I dined with my girlfriend and her family for dinner so we were a larger party, but there were no problems with seating or space(it was a Monday night so you’d hope not). There was a wide array of items chosen to eat, but I’ll focus on my meal. Well, before we ordered we learned they were out of ground beef due to a busy weekend(understandable with Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day having just passed though it changed some of what some people wanted to order) and also received a little bit of an attitude from the waitress when we asked some questions about the menu. Beyond that I ordered the chorizo sausage for an appetizer which was juicy and crispy with a nice grilled and slightly smokey flavor. Fried calamari(large relatively tender pieces) was also shared amongst the table. My girlfriend and I shared chicken nachos and steak fajitas. The portions were very large(which is nice as the prices were a tick above average) and more importantly both dishes were very tasty. The bed of peppers and onions around the steak were sautéed beautifully and the steak itself was tender and succulent. As for the nachos, we had asked for avocado on them when ordered, but didn’t receive it until we re-asked the waitress. Once obtained, the avocado was a nice touch on top, as was the green sauce( Unilocalers said to ask for it) which was a great compliment to just about everything we devoured. Overall I can’t say I was entirely happy with the service(apparently my girlfriend’s sister had a tough time with their waiter on a previous night they came), but the food made up for this by far and boosted a possible three-star review to four. I’d be tentative about the service next time, but the food will bring me back here again.

Gallo is great if you order the right things! Margaritas being your first key thing, everything after that should go smoothly. What really bothered me on my last visit however was how the menu says arepas but you wind up with tostones… Uhhhh hello? They were good, not the best, but slather everything you get with the heavenly green sauce and you can’t go wrong. They’ll charge you 4 bux for half an avocado, their mini empanadas/tacos are definitely awesome but basically just freezer section bull-crap. The shrimp ceviche was good, but I’ve had way better. The chorizo was great as well. The rice and beans were good… –it’s become a Spanish night club which is only good for the fact I really really like looking at Latin women, however the food is hit or miss… but the margs ohhhhh the margs… . Get the fajitas, nachos, and margaritas. But really make sure you try the green sauce. If I could go and drink green sauce and margaritas all day I would, otherwise skip it, there’s better Colombian cuisine around(this hurts to say as Gallo holds a small place in my heart but they need to step it up.

I wouldn’t recommend comming on a busy Friday or Saturday night. There’s a $ 5 cover fee, and the bouncers outside are extremely rude. Walking in it felt like I was in a sauna, it was so hot I had trouble breathing. The drinks are ridiculously priced. Purchased 2 Coronas and gave the bartender a $ 20, she didn’t give me change back. When I asked her if I had any change she laughed in my face. The music is blaring and you can’t move because there are so many people packed into such a tiny place. The DJ was mediocre, not to mention the fact that he yelled at everyone inside the place over the mic about bringing your coat to the coat check when you come in(I guess because the place was so crowded, but it’s not necessary to yell). This place attracts an older, much older demographic. Overall I wasn’t impressed and I will not be returning.

2nd time here, Food is good, drinks are decent. Went here for lunch on a weekday, was super slow so we got really attentive service. Is it always like that? I am not sure — server(Jose) was really nice though, so that is a plus. I wished the menu was a little more diverse though, I wanted a fish dish, but there wasn’t much to choose from, like one entrée and maybe a shrimp wrap, I was hoping for more fish options. Son and husband both loved what they got and we really have no complaints. I guess coming from the option of getting rice and beans, and seasoned meat any time any where on LI — we wanted a more authentic Colombian food. Maybe what we had WAS that way and we are just looking for something that doesn’t exist, haha — but all in all, we would go back, 1st choice in Patchogue? No… but not bad overall. Try it out! :)

My family and I came here for my moms birthday. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the food took a little to come but it was well worth the wait, and we got appetizers which came out quick so it was no big deal. But when the food came out it was apparent why it took so long. It was fresh and delicious, and even my mom who is the pickiest of eaters thought it was good. And to the previous reviews how are you going to compare their food to actual food in Columbia come on -.- For the people who have never been to Columbia it is very good food. My family and I enjoyed it very much and our waitress Stephanie was the sweetest girl in the whole world and no one in my family even said anything and they still came and sang my mom happy birthday ! Which was very nice, since we never asked lol. Definitely going to come here with my boyfriend and will recommend to people.

What a disaster of a family dinner we experienced… We ordered 2 arroz con pollo, 1 churrasco and 1 Bandeja Criolla. We also asked for 2 glasses of water with lemon. We got 28oz glasses of water, with 2 slices of lemon, so 1 slice for each. Things didn’t see too well. It took us 30 min to receive the arroz, another 5 min to get the«churrasco»(grilled meat tasting like pepper and salt, no chimichurri), and 10 more minutes to get the Bandeja Criolla which chicken was bad, it was sour(according to the manager, it’s because they rinse it with vinegar, which I do too and my meats never taste like that) it was just. Bad. The chicken was probably out of the freezer for too long. The meat was sour as well, and the cherry on top was finding two fish’s bones in my white rice. We ordered a side of tostones. And when the side arrived. It was 2 tostones. Yup. 2!!! Should I mention I’m pregnant? I was looking forward to eating! We were the most disappointed people in the world. Obviously not going back. I left the place hungry, pissed, ripped off and annoyed. So did my family. On a side note– we, of course, did not pay for my food. I didn’t get to eat anything!

I really do like Gallo– its such a relaxed kind of atmosphere on main street smack in the middle of this new gorgeous redone Patchogue village. Its not that their food is so out of the ordinary great its just very good, cooked the way is should be-every time. Its a bar grill setting with columbian food(I think its columbian) I like the laid back décor and the way they open the front out into main street during nice weather. We have only gone in for lunch these few times and I have to say the lunch menu is SOINEXPENSIVE! I mean… most of it under $ 7 and they are not cheap with the food at all. My husband likes the Carne Asada and I always get a steak quesadilla. Trust me when I tell you they make some insane pico de gallo! I make that stuff myself and I love the one they make as much as my own. I get the quesadilla to just serve as a vehicle to shovel Pico de gallo into my face basically. They never complain or charge me extra they just chuckle and bring more. It is just an easy great place to have lunch and people watch on busy main street. One thing– parking is tricky, If you park on main street they have city style tolls on each corner with a satellite monitoring system for each space on that block so make sure you don’t learn the hard way like I did last week…$ 25 ticket; enjoyed my lunch regardless!

Beautiful Colombian restaurant. From the Botero replicas, to the cute coffee mugs, to the al fresco dining and the pretty flowers adorning it. The hubby and I are huge fans of their home made flan! This place has gone through many positive changes over the years and now is a chic and delicious alternative in an the ever growing Main Street of Patchogue. Keep it up Dave! P.S must add guacamole to serve with your quesadillas!

The atmosphere is great — pretty big and during the warm season, opens up the front like the other restaurants on Main. I’ve had the skirt steak and the Cuban sandwich which were both delicious. The Cuban I enjoyed more because of the amazing flavor that burst in my mouth when I ate it. So great that I ordered another one to go. The wait staff is friendly but we’re pretty slow in getting refills even though there were only two other tables and no one at the bar.

Thanks to Taco Bell, I’m not a fan of Mexican Food; too many near death experiences! But my friends wanted to go, and figured I’d give it a try. I can’t really comment on wait time or anything as we went during a very busy street fair, so things were a bit hectic. While waiting for a table, we hit up Happy Hour. Drinks were definitely reasonably priced, and the bartenders definitely went out of their way to help. It was a bit interesting they crushed their ice with a metal baseball bat, but if it works, it works! As far as dinner, we were seated near an open wall that allowed for fresh air. Definitely a first for me — it was great! Our waiter was great, and even talked us out of getting meals we didn’t realize were absolutely too big for one person. I ended up with a Cheese Quesadilla and Yellow Rice. At a combine total of $ 8, I was very very happy. Food was delicious. I would absolutely go back. No more processed tacos for me!

Went clubbing here on a Friday night and it was alright. This place is probably the most popular place in the city(seemed so packed compared to every other place). Popular it may be, but it was also hella crowded. Like I don’t think the space was designed to fit as many people that there were. You could barely move around. Music was good — mix of rap and Latino music.

This place is mostly authentic columbian mixed with standard Latin American fare; like quesadillas and fajitas. That being said, it’s a cool place with an authentic vibe. It’s nice when they open up the front in the summer, though late night can get a little wild. Drinks are a bit too sugary, and the nachos were totally disappointing… tons liquid cheese slopped on; is this Taco Bell or an actual restaurant? Their redeeming qualities include their green sauce(put it on everything) and their arroz con pollo is my JAM. Also their prices are super reasonable, and portions are very large. I come here from time to time when I’m craving some interesting people watching. You’ll probably spot the owner, he’s usually dancing!

Food was great, but if you’re hungry go somewhere else. Waited an hour to be seated for a party of 4 on a Sunday at dinner time. Then waited near an hour for the food once it was ordered. They try to push drinks while your waiting. Don’t they know I came in hungry? If I just wanted to drink, I would have went to the bar. Sylvester knows best!

Completely unimpressed. We had been out all day and my friends mentioned how good the food at Gallo was. So, dinner at Gallo it was — and what a disappointment it turned out to be. I expected the prices to be as high as they were, considering the area, but the food left much to be desired. We started with the tropical nacho platter. It was nothing special(chips, cheese, beans) and tasted like nachos I would get anywhere else. For $ 7, I didn’t feel like the price was justified. For dinner, my friend and I shared the sampler platter. There were small slices of steak, chicken breast, plantains, and yucca fries. Everything was SODRY. Most of what we ate lacked flavor, and did I mention how DRY it was? Thank goodness I had a $ 22 half pitcher of sangria to wash it down, but even that tasted like it barely had any alcohol in it. I really do not know how so many people think the food here is good. Either they haven’t been to better«Latin/Colombian/fusion» restaurants, or I just went there on a really off night. Never again for me.

Wow after all the times I’ve been in Patchogue I regret never even giving Gallo a chance. Now next time I’m in Patchogue and jonesin’ for something other than a burger from Perabell I will be here. Enter Gallo. My best friend and I were out dress shopping for her wedding. I am her MOH(Maid of Honor) and it’s come to that time where we need to start looking for the bridal party outfits. Yes if you really must know she has said yes to her dress! So back to the review… we were out and about and wanted to go to Paradise Bridal to see if they had the dress we have in mind. Paradise Bridal is in Patchogue. We initially agree we’ll hit up Public House as we walk past Gallo it smelt delicious but we went on our way to the bridal store. Having to walk back we were passing Gallo again and still smelt delicious. Upon looking at the menu we both said let’s eat here! Man oh man am I glad we did! For what we had… it was awesome! What we ordered: Strawberry Mojito: delicious and so refreshing. That was my bevy. Passion fruit Margarita sans Salt: again another delicious drink. Her bevy. Nachos with Cheese, Jalapeño, and Pico de Gallo(we also asked for no sour cream but got it anyway): So this was pretty good. We were just disappointed we didn’t get real shredded cheese on top of our nachos. The Jalapeños kicked the both of us hard a few times since they just diced it up and didn’t take the ribs and seeds out. Vegetable Quesadilla with Sliced Avocado(again asked for no sour cream but got it anyway): this Quesadilla… I hate to sound so original so boring and by no means the foodie that I am it was just so delicious. It wasn’t greasy it was just… Perfect! I want to go back specifically for this dang quesadilla with their special green sauce and more mojitos. So will I be back?! Heck yes!!! Should you go?! Absolutely!!!

Was waiting to try this place out, finally did and was pretty pleased. LOCATION: main street in patchogue. DECOR: not too big of a place, but has a decent sized bar area and also a small dining room area as well. FOOD: ordered a cherry cosmo with poprocks on the rim, very tasty. My only complaint was that the poprocks kept sliding down the glass and it was very messy. My hands were covered in sticky candy juice everytime i grabbed the glass. For food I got the Steak Quesadilla, about $ 10. Pretty big and the steak in it was delicious. But way too many red onions inside. I probably should have said no onions because I’m not that big of a fan of them. But I didn’t realize there would be that large of an amount in the quesdailla. No big deal though. Friend ordered the steak fajitas and those looked really good. More expensive though for that. But next time I visit I may go with that meal instead of quesadilla. SERVICE: very friendly staff, waitress was nice and efficient.
